Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 797: 796 I will go with you

Wen Ran nodded, but didn’t move.

She stood there, watching the taxi disappear in a cloud of dust. Her hands by her side clenched into fists, and only when the taxi disappeared from sight in the flow of traffic did she turn around and walk towards the office.

Wen Ran returned to her workstation absentmindedly, finding Qin Mu waiting there.

Seeing her return, Qin Mu rose and opened with a smile, “Ranran, has Mo Xiuchen gone?”

Just now, he had been standing by the floor-to-ceiling window and even though their floor was high, he still had a clear view of the two standing outside.

Wen Ran nodded and forced a smile, “He’s returning to G City today.”

...
Seeing her unease, Qin Mu felt a tug at his heart. “Ranran, even though Mo Xiuchen can’t recall the past, he and Cheng Jia have ended their relationship. Don’t be overly pessimistic and make yourself miserable.”

Wen Ran’s smile was strained, but she tried hard to maintain it. “I’m not being pessimistic, Qin Mu. I’m fine.”

The internal conflict left her at a loss for words and actions.

Wen Ran felt she would break down if things continued as they were. But she couldn’t help herself. She couldn’t convince herself to accept Mo Xiuchen, nor could she ignore him.

Unless she couldn’t see him.

Perhaps…

“That’s good. Our contract with LD has been signed and we’ll be busy for a while. Mo Xiuchen may not have his previous memories, but he knows he once had a share in Haochen. He won’t side with Mo Jingteng against us anymore. This morning, we ran out of time without discussing the details and formulating specific plans, but with Ah Feng in G City, Mo Xiuchen will surely seek his help.”

Qin Mu hesitated, then spoke softly.

Mo Jingteng’s attempt to sabotage them wouldn’t be a piece of cake.

Initially, Mo Xiuchen unknowingly made Qin Mu and Luo Haofeng frantic with his actions but now, aware of the real situation, he would not repeat his blunders.

Despite the loss of his memory, Mo Xiuchen, being a long-time friend, still trusted Qin Mu’s words.

While dining with Mo Xiuchen earlier, Qin Mu had explained everything to him. Wen Ran heard this and didn’t feel surprised, she simply nodded lightly.

For the following half a month, everyone at Haochen worked with no respite, Wen Ran being no exception.

However, she was not obligated to work overtime. She was merely trying to distract herself from other thoughts with work.

Having urged her twice to avoid overworking, An Lin spoke again today, “Ranran, we’re not understaffed. You don’t need to work so hard. Why don’t you visit G City this weekend?”

It had been almost three weeks since she last visited G City.

Wen Ran paused her typing briefly and then continued with her work. She glanced casually at An Lin, “After this busy period, maybe.”

An Lin frowned, “At the rate you’re working, when will this period end? Besides, you don’t need to work on weekends…”

Just as An Lin finished speaking, Wen Ran’s phone started to ring.

Closing her document, she took the phone call.

“Ranran, you heartless girl, should I take it that if I don’t call you, you would never call me?”

The moment Wen Ran answered the call, the aggrieved voice of Bai Xiaoxiao came through. With a light furrow of her brows, Wen Ran held the phone away from her ears. After Bai Xiaoxiao was done talking, she brought the phone closer and laughed. “Xiaoxiao, aren’t there any handsome guys in the Maldives? Why are you so angry?”

Half a month ago, the night Mo Xiuchen returned from City C, Wen Ran got a call from Bai Xiaoxiao who shared that she was going on vacation and invited Wen Ran to accompany her.

Wen Ran declined Bai Xiaoxiao’s invitation.

Haochen was extremely busy and since she came to work here, she felt responsible to do her job. More importantly, she didn’t dare to go. Any trip would remind her of the times she spent with Mo Xiuchen. Aside from work that kept her occupied from these thoughts, she found no other way to prevent herself from sinking into this internal struggle.

“You guessed it. All handsome guys are taken. Ranran, I’m giving you half an hour to pick me up from the airport.”

Bai Xiaoxiao issued her commanding order in a less than feminine manner. Startled, Wen Ran asked, “You’re in City C?”

“Yes, I don’t want to wait too long. With my beauty that attracts everyone, too many people would approach me for conversation. I fear that I might be molested by a taxi driver…”

“Pfft”

Wen Ran couldn’t help but laugh.

Standing near the desk, An Lin saw Wen Ran’s laughter, a moment of curiosity flickered in her eyes as she looked at Wen Ran.

Wen Ran caught her gaze and replied, feigning helplessness, “Well, you, miss, just stay there and wait, I’ll come to pick you up now. But take note, there might be a traffic jam.”

“I know, hurry up.”

“Ranran, who are you going to pick up? Is it Bai Xiaoxiao, the one Ah Feng likes?”

An Lin had never met Bai Xiaoxiao and simply heard them discussing her.

Wen Ran picked up her car keys, walked out from behind her desk, and smiled in response, “Yes, Xiaoxiao went to the Maldives for a vacation. I didn’t expect her to return so quickly. An Lin, I’m going to the airport to pick up Xiaoxiao.”

“Should I ask Ah Feng to accompany you?”

An Lin tilted her head, subtly suggesting.

Luo Haofeng barely lingered in G City as Bai Xiaoxiao was in the Maldives, returning to work at Haochen ten days before.

He would be thrilled to learn that Bai Xiaoxiao had arrived in City C.

“Never mind that. Luo Haofeng and Xiaoxiao have broken up. It wouldn’t be good for either of them to be entangled again. It’s enough for me to pick her up.”

An Lin nodded and reminded, “Then drive carefully.”

Of course, Wen Ran knew that Luo Haofeng had not forgotten Xiaoxiao. These days, he often indirectly inquired about Bai Xiaoxiao. Each time he heard Wen Ran say she hadn’t called Bai Xiaoxiao, his eyes would dim slightly.

The complex entanglement of gratitude and grudges shared between Qiao Ah Jiao and Luo Haofeng’s parents made their chances slim, not much better than Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen’s. She knew from experience that it was best for Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao to part ways and live separately.

As Wen Ran rode the elevator down, the elevator halted one floor below. The elevator door opened to reveal Qin Mu standing outside.

“Ranran, where are you off to?”

Qin Mu glanced at her car keys with a hint of surprise on his handsome face.

Since Wen Ran was the only one in the elevator, Qin Mu stepped in. Spotting the sample in Qin Mu’s hand, Wen Ran responded gently, “Xiaoxiao called asking me to pick her up from the airport.”

“Going to the airport to pick up Bai Xiaoxiao? Didn’t she go to the Maldives? She’s back so soon?”

Qin Mu subtly arched his eyebrows, looking at her with soft eyes.

“Yeah, it’s been half a month. It’s not that soon.” As the elevator stopped at the ground floor, Qin Mu let Wen Ran walk out first before following her. “Ranran, wait for me in the parking lot. I’ll accompany you to the airport.”
