Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 774: 773 was scared to faint

“Hey, Mo Xiuchen.”

Cheng Jia called out happily, sitting up from the bed as she spoke.

“Open the door.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through the phone, deep and magnetic. Hearing it, Cheng Jia’s heart started to race. She threw off the light blanket and climbed out of bed, “Mo Xiuchen, you… Are you back?”

“Yeah.”

A single, neutral syllable, revealing no emotion.

“Wait a moment, Xiuchen, I’ll open the door for you right away,” Cheng Jia said, forgetting about her painful foot. As she stepped down, she yelped in pain. On the other end of the phone, a cold smirk angle formed at the corner of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth as he heard her cry, then he hung up the call.

Cheng Jia hopped to the door on one foot and opened it, only to find that the person standing at the door was not Mo Xiuchen. Instead, she was greeted by a white-dressed, long-haired woman with bloody eyes. Her eyes widened in terror, and she let out a scream, before fainting and collapsing at the doorway.

“How boring.”

Wen Ran muttered as she watched the unconscious Cheng Jia in front of her, her words lacking enthusiasm.

Hearing her voice, Wen Jin and Gu Kai entered from the safety gate, reaching Wen Ran’s side and carefully asking, “Ranran, did your prank scare her into fainting?”

Wen Ran raised her eyes, looking at Wen Jin innocently. Wen Jin’s eyes glittered as she looked at her mischievous expression.

Gu Kai went forward, crouched down, and reached out to check Cheng Jia’s pulse, laughing as he said, “She’s not dead, just fainted. Ranran, do we keep playing?”

“Of course we continue, quickly get her inside,” Bai Xiaoxiao said excitedly. After all their hard work, Cheng Jia simply passed out from shock. How weak she was to be scared!

Behind them, Qing Feng and Qing Yang came over, working together to carry Cheng Jia into the living room. Wen Jin glanced at Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao, then said with a smile, “Ranran, Xiaoxiao, you two should wash your faces first. It’s really uncomfortable looking at you like this.”

“No problem.”

Wen Ran nodded eagerly. They had dressed up like this just to frighten Cheng Jia. Now that she had already fainted, there was no need to keep up the make-up.

“Maybe we should do Cheng Jia’s make-up first. If she wakes up later, it won’t be good,” Luo Haofeng said worriedly. He didn’t know how long Cheng Jia would stay unconscious.

Cheng Jia was carried into the bedroom by Qing Feng and Qing Yang. Gu Kai deleted the call history between her and Mo Xiuchen and put her mobile phone on the table.

Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao stepped forward and pulled out their makeup bags. They started to put make-up on Cheng Jia’s unconscious face.

“Won’t Cheng Jia call the police when she wakes up?” This was Qing Feng’s and Qing Yang’s whisper when they stepped back two paces and watched in amusement as Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran proceeded to turn Cheng Jia into a ghost.

Luo Haofeng glanced at them, his eyes then locking onto Bai Xiaoxiao. He answered in a confident tone, “Don’t worry. Even if Cheng Jia knows it’s us, she wouldn’t dare to call the police. She cares about Mo Xiuchen the most now.”

Wen Jin chuckled and casually added, “Yeah, Cheng Jia will only hold a grudge, she won’t call the police. However, she will never comprehend how Mo Xiuchen rampantly chases her all the time.”

“Maybe she’ll be too terrified to think and end up doing something else that would make Mo Xiuchen hate her even more,” Gu Kai added leisurely.

Qing Feng frowned, worrying out loud, “Cheng Jia would resort to anything to get what she wants. She won’t stoop so low as to drug Young Master Mo, would she?”

“Drug him?” Gu Kai laughed coldly, his eyes filled with disdain as he looked over Cheng Jia. He said lightly, “Mo Xiuchen is a beast, for some unknown reason, those kinds of medications don’t work on him. Cheng Jia once put drugs in both her and Mo Xiuchen’s soup, and she ended up soaking in cold water all night.”

Bai Xiaoxiao worked quickly, and after a few minutes, she finished turning Cheng Jia into a truly horrifying ghost. Qing Feng and Qing Yang then moved her onto the bed before everyone left.

“Ranran, should you send Xiuchen a message to let him know?”

On the way back, Wen Ran asked Qing Feng and Qing Yang to accompany Bai Xiaoxiao home. Luo Haofeng got into Wen Jin’s car, and she and Gu Kai were heading back to the Gu family home.

After hearing Gu Kai’s words, Wen Ran finally pulled out her mobile phone and sent a message to Mo Xiuchen.

Less than half a minute after the message was sent, her phone rang. It seemed that he had been waiting for her message, calling her as soon as he received it.

Gu Kai glanced at Wen Ran and smiled warmly. “Ranran, answer the call.”

Wen Ran looked at the name displayed on the screen. She had answered him before, so it wouldn’t matter to answer him one more time. She was almost certain that in the future, Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t just send her messages. He would definitely call her.

She gathered her thoughts, hit the answer button, and greeted softly, “Hello.”

“Ranran, did you have fun just now?”

Mo Xiuchen’s words always caught Wen Ran by surprise and stirred ripples in her heart. His deep and magnetic voice, carrying a hint of laughter, didn’t sound like someone she had just met. Once again, Wen Ran had the feeling that he had not really lost his memory.

She smiled unconsciously, her voice filled with a lightness and joy she hadn’t even noticed herself, “Yes, it was okay, but Cheng Jia is easily scared. She fainted as soon as she saw me.”

“Hehe!”

The sound of Mo Xiuchen’s laughter was deep and alluring.

Wen Ran’s mood lightened at the sound of his laughter, “This is all thanks to you.”

She avoided calling him ‘Xiuchen’ over the phone, afraid that the name would reveal her feelings. She tried her best to treat him as a stranger, or perhaps, just an ordinary friend.

“You’re welcome. It’s late, are you not home yet?”

Wen Ran looked out the window and replied softly, “I’m almost home.”

“Then you should get some rest soon. Good night.” Mo Xiuchen’s concern was evident in his voice. After hanging up the phone, the smile on his face deepened. He stared at the call history on his phone, the image of Wen Ran’s fair and delicate face appeared in his mind.

They had only met once, but the impression was etched deep into his heart.

These two days, he was able to recall her at any moment. This feeling was something he had never experienced since losing his memory.

Over the phone earlier, hearing her soft and joyful voice made his heart soften. He was glad that her attitude towards him was slowly changing, and was no longer outright denial like their first phone call.

At least now, she was willing to talk to him on the phone and even accepted his offer to help. All of this was progress. He didn’t mind waiting. After all, the only path forward for him, having lost his memories, was to gradually get closer to her and strive to regain his memory.

Thinking to this point, a hint of unease surfaced in Mo Xiuchen’s heart. The way Ranran acted made him uncertain as to whether or not he had hurt her before he lost his memory, causing her to avoid him.

If that was the case…
