Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 795: 794 Ranran, are you scared of me?

That night, Wen Ran was again suffering from sleeplessness.

She lay in bed, tossing and turning but couldn’t sleep. The words Mo Xiuchen said on the phone during the day echoed in her ears over and over again.

At midnight, she got up for a glass of water and, in an effort to fall asleep, did dozens of sit-ups until she, panting heavily, took a bath.

This time, she finally fell asleep.

She didn’t attend the bidding the next day.

She stayed at the Company all morning feeling restless.

...
Because MS Group was participating in the bidding, Mo Jingteng had used despicable means to arrange everything, just waiting to defeat them today and also put the blame of obtaining the base price by bribing internal staff of LD on Haochen.

They, on the other hand, were planning on turning the tables on him.

Yesterday, Mo Xiuchen told her that he would participate in the bidding this time. As such, either Haochen would be wronged, or Mo Xiuchen would make a fool of himself.

At noon, she had her meal in the cafeteria. Since she had only fallen asleep in the middle of the night, she rested on her office desk after lunch.

At three in the afternoon, not only did Qin Mu bring back the good news of having already signed a contract with LD, but he also brought back Mo Xiuchen.

Qin Mu took Mo Xiuchen to her office and after telling her the good news at the door, he left, leaving Mo Xiuchen’s tall figure blocking most of the door.

Within the distance of several meters, their gazes met.

The air seemed to freeze in that moment, Wen Ran looked at the man at the door. He had only come back to City C yesterday, but today, he appeared before her again.

Recalling what he said on the phone yesterday, her heartbeat uncontrollably sped up and her expression became unnatural.

Mo Xiuchen sighed lightly, walked into the office, closed the door behind him, approached her desk, and called softly, “Ranran!”

Wen Ran purse her lips, her mind a mess, unsure of how to face him.

Mo Xiuchen walked around her desk and stood in front of her chair. His towering figure cast a shadow, his deep eyes deeply gazing at her. Seeing her panic in his eyes, his heart was both soft and sympathetic.

“Ranran, congratulations on your victory.”

His lips curved into a pleasant shape, his deep, magnetic voice sounding over her head. There was no hint of disappointment or depression over being defeated by his opponent.

Wen Ran stared at him in a daze. Mo Xiuchen swiftly understood her worry from her gaze. The smile deepened on his face, as he gently said, “Ranran, wouldn’t you like to hear about what happened today?”

“…”

Wen Ran frowned. Could it be that there were things she was not aware of?

“Ranran, you can’t possibly expect me to stand and tell you, can you? I’m somewhat thirsty, could I trouble you to pour me a glass of water?”

Mo Xiuchen asked with a smile, his gaze kindly looking at Wen Ran, unfazed by her discomfort in facing him. He knew it was because he already knew about their relationship.

She could no longer treat him as a stranger, or just an ordinary friend.

While Wen Ran did not respond to his words, when he mentioned being thirsty, there was a hint of concern in her eyes. But before she could open her mouth, Mo Xiuchen leaned over and took her cup from the table, “Ranran, I’m really thirsty; you wouldn’t mind me using your glass, would you?”

Before Wen Ran could interject, he had already drunk half the glass of water in one gulp.

Wen Ran opened her mouth slightly, her eyes wide with surprise as they fixed on him.

Mo Xiuchen finished the half glass of water, his lips curling up in satisfaction. He handed her the glass, “Ranran, thanks for the water.”

Wen Ran felt as if something was stuck in her throat, inhibiting her from speaking.

The man actually didn’t wait for her to speak and drank from her glass.

He truly did not treat himself as an outsider.

She remembered how he had bought breakfast and came to her apartment yesterday morning, entered the house, and made himself at home, so drinking her water now didn’t seem out of place.

She stretched her hand out to take the cup, her fingertips unintentionally brushing against his hand. Instantly, as if she received an electric shock, she pulled her hand back and placed the cup back onto the table.

It had been far too long since she had any physical contact with him. This encounter caused Wen Ran’s heart to beat faster than normal.

Mo Xiuchen saw her reaction, his gaze darkening slightly. His low and magnetic voice became even more gentle than before, “Ranran, I didn’t have lunch. Would you accompany me to the restaurant across the street to eat something? I will tell you in detail what happened.”

His request was not up for debate, rather, it was a domineering demand.

Wen Ran wanted to reject the proposal, but Mo Xiuchen did not give her a chance to refuse. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her along as he walked.

Wen Ran’s gaze widened with surprise as he dragged her along, she quickly blurted out, “Xiuchen, let go, I can walk on my own.”

The sound of her anxious ‘Xiuchen’ brought satisfaction to Mo Xiuchen’s face. He turned to look at her, his deep gaze observing her, as he leaned in whispering into her ear, his warm breath tickling her, “Okay!”

The familiar, warm masculine aroma caused Wen Ran’s body to tremble slightly. As soon as Mo Xiuchen let go of her hand, she instantly stepped away, keeping a safe distance from him.

“Ranran, are you really scared of me?”

Mo Xiuchen looked at her amusingly. Just before, he had intentionally let his breath brush over her ear. At the moment, watching the lovely blush creeping up her formerly pale and exquisite face, his heart was delightfully stirred. An urge to get closer to her flashed through his heart.

In an instant, he suppressed the urge.

It seemed that Ranran was really scared of him, so much that she rejected his approach. He couldn’t scare her away all of a sudden.

Wen Ran pursed her lips, steadied herself, raised her eyes to meet Mo Xiuchen’s gaze and calmly said, “Let’s go!”

“Hmm.” Mo Xiuchen chuckled, turned around, and walked towards the door. Wen Ran followed him from behind. They left the office, walking one after the other, reaching the elevator. Mo Xiuchen raised his hand to press the button,

The elevator was empty. As soon as they entered the elevator, the enclosed small space made Wen Ran feel uneasy.

She stood slightly angled in comparison to the elevator wall. Mo Xiuchen’s towering figure stood next to her, his gaze landing on her softly. His gaze was not scorching, but the depth was like an age-old ancient pond. One look into them could sweep away her soul, hence she dared not meet his eyes.

Thankfully, the time in the elevator was short, and they quickly reached the first floor.

With a ding, the elevator door opened. As Wen Ran stepped out of the elevator, she let out a long breath.

Behind her, Mo Xiuchen followed. Walking side by side with her, he gently asked, “Ranran, how long have you been in City C?”

Wen Ran raised her eyes to look at him and softly said, “A month.”

“Before I lost my memory, did I work at Haochen?”

His words made Wen Ran pause. An emotion he couldn’t understand flashed in those clear eyes. She pursed her lips, remaining silent.
