Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 796: 795, can you take me?

After lunchtime, the restaurant was not crowded and even the main hall was very quiet.

Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran chose a window seat. A waiter brought the menu over, Mo Xiuchen took it and handed it to Wen Ran, saying with a smile: “Ranran, please order.”

Wen Ran slightly furrowed her brows, “I already had lunch.”

“It’s not for you, it’s for me.” Mo Xiuchen paused slightly before explaining: “As you know, I lost my memory and I don’t know what I like to eat anymore.”

“Alright.”

Wen Ran felt a bit irritated, but she had to surrender whenever she saw his expression.

...
Seeing her consent, Mo Xiuchen raised the corner of his mouth in satisfaction.

Wen Ran knew what he used to like. The food arrived quickly. Mo Xiuchen looked at the dishes on the table with a creased smile and softly said, “Ranran, have some too.”

“No thanks, I’m full from lunch. You go ahead.” Wen Ran held her water glass and comfortably leaned back in her chair, with a faint smile appearing on her face, that made onlookers feel at ease.

Mo Xiuchen didn’t insist, he picked up his chopsticks, tasted the closest dish, and said with satisfaction: “It’s delicious.”

Wen Ran smiled, but didn’t speak.

Mo Xiuchen tasted all four dishes and had a sip of soup before starting talking about today’s matters.

After hearing him, Wen Ran looked at the handsome man across from her with a surprised expression and asked softly, “Did Mo Zixuan tell you anything else?”

Mo Xiuchen swallowed his food, curved his lips into a smile, “No, he just told me that Haochen owns my share.”

Originally, before he came to City C yesterday, Mo Zixuan had told him that Haochen was his own company. There was no need for additional words, as clever as Mo Xiuchen, he could guess the rest.

Therefore, this morning at LD, he had a short chat with Qin Mu and explained all necessary things.

Finally, Haochen signed a contract with LD.

“Oh.”

Wen Ran just replied with a single character and said nothing more.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze narrowed a little and he didn’t further initiate a conversation, instead, he lowered his head and focused on his meal.

For a moment, the atmosphere quietened. One consumed their meal while the other watched. There was no verbal exchange, but it wasn’t awkward. Instead, it gave off a warm and cozy feeling.

Mo Xiuchen put down his chopsticks, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and then lifted his gaze to look at Wen Ran, speaking at a relaxed pace: “Ranran, I am going to head back to G City soon.”

Initially, Wen Ran was stunned but quickly smiled, “Have a safe trip.”

Mo Xiuchen’s lips slightly pursed. His deep gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before he calmly said, “City C and G City are not far from each other. I can come over anytime and you can go back on weekends. ”

The moment when Wen Ran’s mug was about to fall, all you could hear was a soft thud as it returned to the table. The remaining water in the mug was spilled onto the tablecloth.

“Ranran, are you burnt?”

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze slightly changed, and instinctively, he stood up and examined her.

The water in the jug was boiling and it was too hot.

After she had finished her glass of water earlier, she saw Mo Xiuchen staring at her intensely. So, she tried to avoid his gaze by pretending to pour herself a glass of water.

Unexpectedly…

Before Wen Ran could react, her small hand was grasped by Mo Xiuchen’s warm grip. The warmth from his palm surged through her body like an electric current, straight to her heart.

After Wen Ran’s heart skipped a beat, it started pounding uncontrollably.

When she lifted her eyes, she was met with his gaze- long, deep, full of care and worry. Even without the expressions of passionate love from the past, his gaze still felt like a storm that was breaking into her peaceful heart.

What he had just said were the very words she had uttered a few months ago.

Back then, he was hiding his health condition from her and she let him go to City C alone.

People around her asked why she didn’t follow Mo Xiuchen to City C. She responded by saying that City C and G City were not far apart, they could visit each other anytime they started to miss each other.

Today, hearing those same words from him, she couldn’t hide her surprise.

At this moment, Mo Xiuchen was half-bent over with his handsome face only inches away from hers. All the air around her seemed to have been invaded by his presence; she felt a bit dizzy. For a moment, she even forgot to withdraw her hand gripping his tightly. She was just staring at him in a daze.

Perhaps, deep inside, she was aware – she just couldn’t bear to let go.

Craving for this moment’s warmth.

Mo Xiuchen examined her hand carefully to ensure she wasn’t burnt. His eyes slightly lifted to meet hers. A small flutter in his heart made his adam’s apple bob slightly, and his gaze landed on her pink lips.

In the air, subtle sparks of romance were kindling.

In an instant, it spread out like a web, enveloping both of them, isolating every other person and thing from their world. In that web, there was only room for each other.

“Ranran, let’s go.”

In the end, Mo Xiuchen didn’t lean in to kiss her.

As much as he wanted to kiss those tender lips, he restrained himself. He gently let go of her hand, stood up, got his emotions in check, and looked at her with a smile.

Perhaps he was lingering on the sensation of holding her hand. When they left the restaurant and crossed the road, Mo Xiuchen instinctively held her hand again.

Wen Ran tried to pull her hand free, but when he tightened his grip, she couldn’t pull away.

“Watch out for cars.”

Mo Xiuchen found a perfect excuse. In fact, the drivers followed traffic rules and the cars stopping on both sides of the road didn’t run any red lights.

Seeing Wen Ran no longer struggling, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curved upwards. He purposely slowed his pace, finally releasing her hand when they crossed the road.

The moment Mo Xiuchen let go of her hand, Wen Ran instinctively clenched her fist.

She wanted to hold on to the warmth of his hand.

Mo Xiuchen casually glanced at her slightly clenched fingers, a touch of depth flashed in his eyes. He softly added, “Ranran, I need to go to the airport so I won’t escort you into your office.”

“Do you need me to arrange for someone to drive you?”

Wen Ran blinked her eyes, asking hesitantly.

Mo Xiuchen’s smile deepened. Without any hesitation, he nodded: “Great, you can drive me there.”

“I meant for a driver to take you.” Wen Ran explained, she didn’t mean that she would personally drive him.

“In that case, never mind. I’ll take a cab to the airport.”

Mo Xiuchen’s disappointment was quite obvious, or rather, he purposely exaggerated his disappointment in an attempt to persuade Wen Ran to drive him to the airport and spend more time with him.

After saying this, he turned to leave.

Wen Ran watched his retreating silhouette and somehow, felt a sense of loneliness emanating from him. A pang of discomfort struck her heart; unconsciously, she pursed her lips as if scared that the words “I’ll take you to the airport” would slip out.

Mo Xiuchen opened the taxi door. Before he got in, he turned back, softly spoke to her “Ranran, you can go back to your office. I’m leaving.”, and then he bent down and got into the car.
