Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 766: Don’t even mention that she is my fiancee, even if….

A spark flickered in the depths of Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, not missing the subtle shift in Wen Ran’s expression reflected in the corner of his peripheral vision.

One of his eyebrows elevated slightly, the corner of his mouth tugged into a smile that was not quite a smile, “Ah Kai, Cheng Jia is no longer my fiancée.”

In truth, Mo Xiuchen didn’t know the nature of his relationship with Gu Kai. His opening address was not “Mr. Gu” or “Gu Kai”, but rather the endearing “Ah Kai”, and he wanted to see Gu Kai’s reaction.

As expected, Gu Kai was stunned, but whether that was due to his appearance, or his informal address, Mo Xiuchen did not know.

At this moment, Gu Kai showed that shocked expression again, looking at Mo Xiuchen in disbelief, “Mo Xiuchen, you are joking, right?”

If Cheng Jia wasn’t his fiancée, then what was she, his wife?

If Mo Xiuchen dared to say that Cheng Jia was his wife, Gu Kai didn’t know if he could control himself from hitting him.

Standing next to him, Wen Ran’s heart fluttered anxiously. She did not dare to look directly at Mo Xiuchen, afraid that he might see a tell-tale sign.

She cast her eyes downward, her gaze unintentionally focusing on the tip of her own toes.

The curve of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth slipped into a slight coolness as he responded arrogantly, “What’s there to joke about? I don’t remember Cheng Jia. Whether she’s my fiancée or my wife, I’ve already forgotten.”

Gu Kai twitched at the corner of his mouth, “So, you’ve broken up with Cheng Jia?”

“It seems so.”

Mo Xiuchen did not attempt to hide this, as if he wished that the entire world knew that he and Cheng Jia were no longer together.

He cast a seemingly casual glance at Wen Ran standing beside him, her eyes downcast and lost in thoughts, and his voice softened slightly, “Cheng Jia has gone back to China.”

“Bro, let’s go back.”

Wen Ran, who’d been keeping her eyes lowered, suddenly lifted her head, uttering these words softly to Gu Kai.

She was afraid that if she stayed any longer, she would be unable to control her feelings for Xiuchen.

She knew how shrewd Xiuchen was, and now with his amnesia, he was likely to be even sharper.

She hoped that Xiuchen would remember the past as soon as possible, but those cues couldn’t come from her.

Moreover, there was a secretary trailing behind Xiuchen.

She recognized her. This woman had worked at MS Group a while back and was likely a transfer from China.

Gu Kai gave a faint smile, “Xiuchen, Wen Ran and I are going back. Goodbye.”

“Sure!”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t try to hold them back, but simply smiled at Wen Ran.

Wen Ran returned his smile politely and left, pulling Gu Kai by the hand.

Behind them, Mo Xiuchen watched their retreating figures, and leisurely pulled out his phone.

His long fingers pressed the quick dial button, causing Wen Ran, who had already walked a few meters away, to stiffen slightly.

“President, let’s head back.”

Secretary Wu withdrew her gaze from the retreating figures of Wen Ran and Gu Kai, took a step forward, and gently reminded Mo Xiuchen.

The dim street lamp cast a light on his tall figure projecting a thin, lonely shadow.

She tilted her head up to look at his sharp profile and slightly pursed lips and a wave of pity welled up within her.

It seemed Mo Xiuchen didn’t hear her reminder, standing erect, watching as Gu Kai and Wen Ran entered the hotel and disappeared from sight.

With a soft sigh in his heart, he finally turned to Secretary Wu and asked, “Do you know them?”

Secretary Wu was taken aback, her brain whirled for a couple of seconds before responding, “President, Dr. Gu is a well-known young talent in G City. Everyone knows him.”

If she were to say she didn’t know him, it would be clear she was lying to him.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed and a cryptic smile emerged, “Is that so? And what about Wen Ran? Gu Kai said they were siblings, so why don’t they have the same surname?”

Upon hearing this statement, cold sweat began to form in Secretary Wu’s palms.

She inwardly lamented.

Why was it that the president, despite his amnesia, still felt something different towards Wen Ran?

He had followed her all the way without a word and even got out of his car to approach her.

If he had doubts in his heart, why didn’t he ask Gu Kai and Wen Ran directly, instead of making things difficult for his subordinate?

Seeing her troubled expression, Mo Xiuchen laughed and said, “Never mind. You probably wouldn’t know anyway. Let’s go.”

Without giving another glance at Secretary Wu, who was caught off guard by his remark, Mo Xiuchen turned around and walked away.

**

Upon entering the hotel, Wen Ran realized that both her palms were damp with sweat.

She took a deep breath, her fair face showed a hint of confusion.

Standing next to her, Gu Kai looked at her bewildered expression, and gently asked, “Ranran, haven’t you noticed that Mo Xiuchen was following you the entire time?”

Wen Ran looked at Gu Kai in bewildered, unable to control the frantic beating of her heart, her brows lightly furrowed, “Brother, I have no idea.”

She tried hard to recall the scenes when she was shopping just now. She could not remember ever seeing a car following her.

When she arrived, she never thought that she would encounter Mo Xiuchen so soon.

She always thought that in this unfamiliar city, it would be hard for her to meet him.

Gu Kai gave her a gentle smile, “I am sure, Mo Xiuchen was following you from the beginning.”

Perhaps the moment he saw Gu Kai appear, Mo Xiuchen had stopped the car.

He sat in the car and watched as Gu Kai approached Wen Ran before opening the car door to get out.

“He does not recognize me.”

Wen Ran’s voice wavered slightly due to the emotion stirring in her, and upon hearing this, Gu Kai felt a minor tinge in his heart.

When Ranran had first noticed Mo Xiuchen, her eyes had quickly welled up with tears.

He had seen it.

He didn’t know whether Mo Xiuchen, who has a few meters away, had also detected it.

Seeing Ranran being captivated by Mo Xiuchen and forgetting her surroundings, Gu Kai felt a pang in his heart and reached out to hold her hand, softly reminding her.

That secretary following him, Gu Kai didn’t know her, but instinctively, he knew she had been assigned by Mo Jingteng to monitor Mo Xiuchen.

Maybe Mo Jingteng and Cheng Jia would soon know about their coincidental encounter with Mo Xiuchen tonight.

It was not that he feared Mo Jingteng and Cheng Jia, he just didn’t want Cheng Jia to upset Ranran by bringing up the promise she’d made in the past.

Moreover, Mo Xiuchen had followed her without knowing who she was.

This meant he didn’t need anyone to jog his memory. Mo Xiuchen would himself recall the past soon, or if not, there was a chance he would fall in love with Ranran again.

Gu Kai chuckled lightly, gazing at Wen Ran’s clear eyes and said joyfully, “Ranran, it doesn’t matter whether Mo Xiuchen recognizes you or not. What’s important is, he does treat you differently. The way he was looking at you earlier, it was warm.”

Gu Kai had seen Mo Xiuchen after his surgery, and at that time, his eyes didn’t possess the warmth they had when looking at Ranran.

Given his arrogant personality, the only action he deemed suitable was to send Cheng Jia back to China, as for being gentle and kind to others, that was impossible.

Remembering Mo Xiuchen’s words “I don’t remember Cheng Jia. Whether she’s my fiancée, or my wife, I’ve already forgotten,” Gu Kai couldn’t help the upturn of his lips into a smile.
