Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: The Beginning of the Scandal

Zhou Yun was nicknamed ”Xiao Wei Like Snow” the moment she entered the company.

The reason was simple; she bore a three-point resemblance to Wei Ru Xue in her youth, stunningly beautiful, and the signing of her contract was driven by this appearance.

Originally, the company had planned for her to debut under the name ”Xiao Wei Like Snow.”

But later on, something happened, and the plan was quietly dropped.

Those agents who initially fought for Zhou Yun lost their enthusiasm, except for Zhou Lan, who insisted on picking her.

At that time, Zhou Yun was just a newcomer who had just signed up and didn’t know anyone in the company or have access to any information. It took her a long time to realize that whether the company signed her or later shelved her, it was all because of Wei Ru Xue.

How could Wei Ru Xue, in the critical period of her career development, allow the emergence of a ”Xiao Wei Like Snow” in the company? This was an overt threat to her.

Wei Ru Xue’s tough stance finally led the company to compromise and stall Zhou Yun’s career plan.

But Wei Ru Xue’s suppression of Zhou Yun did not end there; any major production or resources being prepared by the company were unrelated to Zhou Yun.

With such a colossus in front, many things that should have been smooth sailing turned into difficulties.

Like with this ”Spring Cold.”

Such a huge production, yet not even a whisper had reached Zhou Yun.

Because Wei Ru Xue was the female lead, her presence meant that ”Xiao Wei Like Snow” wouldn’t be allowed.

Zhou Lan didn’t want to burden Zhou Yun with these troubles, but Zhou Yun could guess them herself.

”If it continues like this, I might as well switch to another agency,” Zhou Yun said, almost spitting the words out in frustration.

Zhou Lan felt distressed upon hearing this.

Zhou Yun was more trouble-free than most newcomers; she was smart, sensible, didn’t throw tantrums, wasn’t vain or closed off to criticism. She rarely acted out angrily, so it was evident how upset she must have been.

”Xiao Yun, actually, you would also be quite suitable for sweet, pet-themed dramas. As long as the production is good, there are numerous actresses who have become famous through such dramas.”

Zhou Lan herself felt a bit guilty saying this.

Because everyone knew that one hugely successful ”Spring Cold” was worth ten of those sweet pet-themed dramas.

No pet-themed drama could become a classic; it was just a fast-moving consumer good in the TV drama market.

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, if it really comes to it, just take it.”

In the end, one can only compromise.

With her current level of debut, securing a female lead role without backing or sponsors was already a head start.

She was simply reluctant in the face of potentially better options.

Zhou Lan sighed.

This feeling of helplessness was uncomfortable for anyone.

But work must continue, and one must keep their spirits up.

Her only reliance now was the current popularity and the work opportunities it brought.

”Sister Lan, didn’t a lot of scripts come looking for me? Help me pick some. If it really comes down to it, I’ll do the Yuehai Network sweet pet drama; it’s not that I can’t.” Zhou Yun didn’t want her mood to affect Zhou Lan. She smiled slightly and said, ”You’re right, even if it’s a sweet pet drama, I can still do a good job.”

”Didn’t Yin Zishi also bring some scripts last time? I’ll take whatever I can. I don’t have the luxury of being picky now, Sister Lan. You arrange the schedule. As long as I can film, help me take on all the jobs.”

If she couldn’t film high-quality works, then she would work hard.

There isn’t just one path to success in this world; if one doesn’t work out, try another.
