Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: The Beginning of the Scandal

What kind of person is Chen Fusi?

From his appearance, he looks handsome, dresses appropriately, and is a man whose quality of life can be perceived through the details, free from material concerns.

Strictly speaking, in his interactions, he has never been overly aggressive or coerced others.

But Zhou Yun still felt uncomfortable, and this discomfort did not diminish with her growing acquaintance with Chen Fusi, but rather increased.

This discomfort was more like an intuition.

”I heard about the show you were recording in Hainan, it ended up not being filmed,” Chen Fusi brought up the show but did not mention the script change he did for her, ”What exactly happened?”

Zhou Yun said, ”The director suddenly had to be hospitalized, so the filming was postponed.”

Chen Fusi responded, ”That’s really unfortunate.”

”Yeah, stayed over for one night and then came back,” Zhou Yun said, laughing, her eyes curving into crescents when she smiled.

”I read in the news that you had lunch in Hainan with that celebrity... Song Chi.”

”Ah? Mr. Chen, you follow entertainment news too?” Zhou Yun helplessly waved her hand and said, ”It just so happened that he was also in Hainan, so we came together for a meal to clarify some rumors, you might know, there were heated rumors before, we issued clarifications but they didn’t believe us.”

”Isn’t it more necessary to avoid such appearances during such times?” Chen Fusi expressed his confusion.

”Absolutely not,” Zhou Yun shook her head, ”If we avoid it, the rumors might die down, but if photos like those from our last unexpected encounter get taken again, people will say, see, these two definitely have something going on, still denying it, they must be secretly dating. So, it’s better to be open, it’s all baseless anyway, let the media write what they want, eventually the audience will get tired—aren’t they saying they are dating? How come after all this time there’s not even a picture of them holding hands?”

In the end, Zhou Yun was imitating the media’s frantic questioning, making Chen Fusi laugh.

”You have a point.”

Zheng Xiaowen said, ”I was actually wondering, Song Chi had rumors with many people before but never interacted with them, you’re the first.”

Zhou Yun replied, ”Because of the airport incident.”

”Huh?” Zheng Xiaowen looked at her in surprise.

Zhou Yun explained, ”At the airport, someone pretending to be his fan splashed tomato juice on me, he was slandered online, and I helped clarify things for him, he returned the favor by clarifying things on Weibo while making his fans think we are good friends, so then his fans wouldn’t attack me anymore.”

”Oh, right, I forgot about that incident, Xiao Yun, was the person at the airport caught?” Zheng Xiaowen asked.

”Yes, they have been reprimanded by the police.”

”That’s good, such crazy fans should really be taught a lesson,” Zheng Xiaowen said indignantly, ”When I was abroad, I also interacted with some celebrities and they often encounter these haters, even some who send dead rats to their private apartments, really outrageous.”

At this moment, Chen Fusi suddenly said, ”If you need, I can arrange a bodyguard for you.”

Zhou Yun quickly waved her hands and said, ”No need, Mr. Chen, the company has already arranged one for me.”

After the airport incident, Zhou Lan had already become cautious and asked the company to arrange for a bodyguard.

It’s quite normal to prepare accompanying security for celebrities, it’s just that previously there wasn’t a need due to Zhou Yun’s lower profile.

Chen Fusi said, ”Okay, but if you ever need in the future, you can contact me, my bodyguard company is the top in the industry.”

Zhou Yun felt a slight sink in her heart.

”Bodyguard company?” Zheng Xiaowen looked at Chen Fusi surprised, ”You also started a bodyguard company?”

Chen Fusi curved his lips and said, ”The bodyguard companies in the country are not very professional, I had no choice but to do it myself.”

After lunch, true to her word, Zhou Yun received a call from Zhou Lan, and apologetically said, ”I have to go now, sorry.”

Chen Fusi stood up and buttoned up, ”Let me walk you to the door.”

Walking along the corridor, the club was exceptionally quiet, not as noisy as the outside restaurants.

Their shoes on the thick carpet made not a sound.

”Miss Zhou, you seem a bit nervous when you see me,” Chen Fusi suddenly spoke up.

Zhou Yun subconsciously wanted to deny, but turning her head, seeing Chen Fusi’s eyes looking at her, those pupils seemed to have the power to see through people’s hearts, instantly penetrated her disguise, her lips parted slightly, but the words of denial couldn’t come out.

”Mr. Chen, please understand.”

Chen Fusi remained silent for a while, then said, ”If my behavior has made you feel nervous, I apologize.”

This attitude made Zhou Yun relax a bit.

”Mr. Chen, you don’t have to do this, it’s my own issue,” Zhou Yun shook her head, barely smiling, but the bitterness was unmistakable, ”I get nervous around strangers, especially... strangers like you.”

”Strangers like me... what kind do you mean?” Chen Fusi asked.

Zhou Yun’s fingers almost squeezed blood from her palms.

”Sorry, Mr. Chen, it’s my problem, please forgive me,” Zhou Yun braced herself, standing tall, her eyes were clear and bright, filled with a resolute power reminiscent of alpine plants, especially striking in the dimly lit corridor, ”It has nothing to do with you, I should be the one apologizing.”

Chen Fusi froze for two seconds, then relieved, smiled.

”I’m relieved you could say that to me, no worries, we’ll talk another time,” Chen Fusi’s gaze warmed up at that moment, ”Let’s go, I’ll walk you to the door, hasn’t your agent arrived?”

Zhou Yun was escorted by Chen Fusi to the car.

”Thank you.”

”If you need anything, contact me, you know, I’m always willing to help you solve any problems,” Chen Fusi helped Zhou Yun close the car door.

Zhou Lan sat motionless in the co-driver’s seat, sizing up the unfamiliar yet gentle man outside.

After the car drove far, Zhou Lan turned his head to look at Zhou Yun, ”What happened?”

But Zhou Yun could not hear.

Zhou Yun closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled.

The dark water slowly crept over her mouth, her nose, her head...

Her childhood dreams were fragmented, when the drunken father opened the door, when that smartly-dressed man walked into that sweltering afternoon, when everything ended in the form of a nightmare, she watched her hands covered in blood, panicked, heard angry curses, roaring, her mind went blank, she dropped the sharp instrument in her hand and escaped from that home.

She never went back.
