Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 The Beginning of the Scandal: 09

Su Yan sat to the right of Lew Qingqing and Zhou Yun. She leaned forward, full of curiosity, and asked, ”Did you guys know each other before?”

Lew Qingqing immediately replied, ”We met for the first time today. Did you know Xiao Yun before?”

”Of course, it’s also my first time meeting her,” said Su Yan. ”But I was quite startled when I saw the trending topic this morning.”

Zhou Yun said innocently, ”The paparazzi are just making things up.”

”I remember you’re currently filming with Song Chi, right?” Lew Qingqing countered Su Yan. ”You should know best whether Zhou Yun is Song Chi’s girlfriend or not.”

Hearing this, the look in Su Yan’s eyes flickered for a moment, she chuckled twice and said, ”Although I’m shooting in the same crew with him, how would they let me in on such matters?”

At first hearing, this statement seemed fine, but it was actually rather evasive. Lew Qingqing’s earlier remark was meant to prompt Su Yan to become a witness, to clarify the rumor. However, Su Yan merely skirted the issue, giving the impression that even if Song Chi and Zhou Yun were dating, she wouldn’t know about it.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to stress again, ”I don’t know Teacher Song Chi at all.”

Lew Qingqing patted the back of Zhou Yun’s hand and said, ”Don’t worry, now the fans are all very smart. They won’t be led by the nose by the paparazzi, no need to worry.”

Zhou Yun showed a grateful smile to Lew Qingqing.

Su Yan then took out sunglasses from her bag and put them on herself.

Chen Quanying, who was chatting with others, asked straightforwardly, ”Su Yan, why are you still wearing sunglasses now that the sun has set? Trying to be cool?”

With that remark, Su Yan nearly lost her composure.

Zhou Yun keenly observed Su Yan’s mouth twitch.

She had long heard that Chen Quanying was straightforward, and there were quite a few rumors in the circle about her roasting others. Witnessing it today, it really was... unique. At least, it was the first time Zhou Yun, who had been in the industry for so long, saw someone expose others so directly.

Not to mention the conflicts that already existed between Lew Qingqing and Su Yan.

Su Yan took off her sunglasses, pouting and said with a slight grievance, ”Aww, Sister Ying, I’m tired and wanted to sleep in the car for a while.”

Even Su Yan didn’t dare to confront Chen Quanying head-on.

Lew Qingqing wouldn’t miss this chance to kick her arch-enemy when she was down and said, ”Then let’s switch seats. I just want to chat with Sister Ying. I’ve loved Sister Ying’s songs since I was in school, and I even went to her concert with friends.”

Instantly, Su Yan’s glares shot over.

Chen Quanying excitedly turned to Lew Qingqing, ”You’ve attended my concert?”

”Yes, five years ago, at the Beijing Workers’ Stadium,” Lew Qingqing said. ”Do you remember?”

”Of course, I remember my concert.” Chen Quanying then turned to Su Yan and said, ”You wanted to sleep for a while, didn’t you? Since Lew Qing wants to switch with you, hurry up and switch.”

Su Yan looked a bit embarrassed, as if she had been placed on a fire and couldn’t step down.

She was being driven away.

Swallowing her pride, Su Yan had no choice but to switch seats with Lew Qing, despite the bitter taste.

Cameras were still rolling, and Zhou Yun smiled, calling out to Sister Yanyan.

Su Yan, with a stoic face, nodded slightly and put her sunglasses back on, and it was unclear whether she actually fell asleep or not.

Only then did Zhou Yun take out her phone, slightly turning her body to prevent Su Yan from seeing her screen, and messaged Zhou Lan: Did you see what happened this afternoon?

Zhou Lan: What?

Zhou Yun said: Su Yan kicked me.

Zhou Lan: What? During the game? She didn’t do it on purpose, did she?

Zhou Yun: No, she did it on purpose. Because I didn’t stand with her in unity, instead, my relationship with Lew Qingqing seemed close.

Zhou Lan: Are those two really at odds?

Zhou Yun: They fell out during the wardrobe change.

Zhou Lan: Then don’t be impulsive now, finish the recording first, and remember the image you need to show on camera.

Zhou Yun: I know, but remember to get a backup of the video.

Zhou Lan: Leave it to me, don’t worry.

Having clarified matters, Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief, only then turning to glance at Su Yan.

Suddenly, Su Yan spoke out with an indifferent voice, ”Is there something?”

As expected, she wasn’t asleep.

Zhou Yun looked baffled, ”Huh? Sister Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

Su Yan snickered, didn’t say anything more, and fell silent again.

With a resigned smile, Zhou Yun turned her head to gaze out the window, the smile in her eyes finally fading.

When they arrived at the place for dinner, a big table was set, and after everyone took their seats, the director and cameramen were also ready. The space in front of the dinner table was filled with people, but the ones in the camera frame were only the artists.

Su Yan had an expression that was enticed by the food, saying, ”I’m so hungry, I think I can eat a whole cow right now!”

Lew Qingqing immediately said, ”Same here, really starving, Director, there aren’t any tasks left, right? We can just have dinner?”

Both girls were looking at the camera with eager eyes and a pleading look.

Pretty girls making such faces always tend to soften people’s hearts.

But how could the director’s heart be softened?

”Of course... there’s a task.”

Su Yan and Lew Qingqing both let out a sigh at the same time, but didn’t argue.

A few men behind them also started to complain.

”Director, where’s the love? Where’s the love for us?”

”I’m not going to record anymore, I declare this episode will be my last recording.”

”This is too much!”

...

It’s all acting, all for show, all for the effect on screen.

Zhou Yun wasn’t the protagonist, she just needed to smile with resignation.

Smile beautifully, be a pretty vase.

”Xiao Yun, come sit next to me.” After taking her seat, Lew Qingqing called out proactively, ”Come here.”

Zhou Yun then moved over to sit next to her.

”Lew Qingqing, are you doing this on purpose!” Zhang Haichen suddenly glared, ”I already said I wanted to sit with Xiao Yun tonight!”

Zhou Yun was startled, looking at Zhang Haichen not knowing what to do.

Only to see Lew Qingqing smiling triumphantly, saying, ”Hmph, stop bewitching our innocent Xiao Yun, she’s so pure!”

Zhou Yun was utterly bewildered.

Zhang Haichen sighed and faced the camera with a morose expression.

Zhou Yun realized, it was another variety show trick.

She hugged Lew Qingqing’s arm with a giggly smile.

Seeing this scene, Su Yan’s expression looked somewhat unpleasant, even her gaze toward Zhou Yun carried a hint of disgust.

Of course, this hint of disgust avoided the camera.

Initially, Zhou Yun didn’t want to get involved in the rivalry between Su Yan and Lew Qingqing, but Su Yan’s kick in the afternoon had left Zhou Yun feeling inflamed.

Regardless of how much of Lew Qingqing’s warmth and closeness in front of the camera was an act, at least Lew Qingqing hadn’t done that to her.

Zhou Yun was more than happy to act close like sisters with Lew Qingqing, just to infuriate Su Yan.

During the following shoot, Zhou Yun was even more affectionate with Lew Qingqing, frequently linking arms or hugging Lew Qingqing.

Their intimacy was like that of best friends who had grown up together.
