Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Beginning of the Scandal: 05

Before arriving at the shooting site of the program, Zhou Yun’s company had issued a statement.

Zhou Lan checked the situation of Song Chi’s company, studio, and his personal social media accounts the first thing, and there was no movement at all.

”How could this be so strange?” Zhou Lan frowned and said, ”There hasn’t been any reaction from Song Chi’s side up until now.”

For a top celebrity like Song Chi, there would definitely be a specialized PR team to deal with scandalous events like this immediately. Even if they were slow to respond, they shouldn’t be slower than Zhou Yun, a third-tier little celebrity. A whole morning had passed.

Song Chi’s name was still at the top of the trending searches list.

Zhou Yun said, ”If they have no action, they have no action. It’s fine as long as we’ve issued the statement.”

”If you two were really in a relationship, that would be great,” Zhou Lan suddenly said.

Zhou Yun was at a loss for words.

”Sister Lan, can you please not daydream?”

”You don’t know how many people came to ask me about you this morning and talked about collaborations,” Zhou Lan said. ”I don’t like to talk with numbers, but the industry now likes to talk with numbers, what can I do? Before this, have you ever been on trending searches? Did people know your name?”

Zhou Yun didn’t want to listen to Zhou Lan’s nagging.

”Alright, alright, I get it. But I really am not in a relationship with Song Chi, so stop nagging,” Zhou Yun said. ”I will work hard at acting and do my job well, aiming to become famous as soon as possible so that you can also make big money soon.”

Talking like this, they arrived at the program’s filming site.

”But the timing of this incident is quite coincidental. Previously, to get you on this show, it took several meals to settle, and they’re just reaping the benefits now.”

Zhou Lan held an umbrella for Zhou Yun to block the sun, escorting him in.

”They’re lucky.”

The program Zhou Yun was going to record is called ”What a Nice Weather,” a popular outdoor variety game show.

The variety show crew seemed almost as large as a small drama production team.

Zhou Lan took Zhou Yun to meet the director, immediately changing her expression to a brilliant smile, and shouted, ”Director Wang!”

Director Wang Ken, a middle-aged man in his forties wearing a fisherman’s hat, turned towards them with a smile and said, ”Oh, Xiao Lan is here.”

”Xiao Yun, this is Wang Ken, the director. It’s all thanks to the director that you got on this show, so thank him for his support,” Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun smiled sweetly and softly, calling out, ”Director Wang.”

Wang Ken raised his right hand and patted Zhou Yun on the shoulder, saying with a smile, ”You’re even more beautiful in person than on camera.”

Zhou Yun smiled even more brightly, saying, ”For you to say I’m beautiful after having seen so many gorgeous people means I really must be pretty.”

The smile on Zhou Yun’s face was full of confidence, radiating a bright charm.

Wang Ken’s gaze became a bit more profound as he turned to Zhou Lan and said, ”You’ve got quite the eye.”

Zhou Lan playfully patted Wang Ken’s body with her hand and said, ”Do I even have to say it?!”

”But, I heard you and Song Chi are dating?” Wang Ken turned towards Zhou Yun again. ”I heard a lot of people talking about it when I woke up this morning.”

Zhou Yun didn’t speak.

Zhou Lan rolled her eyes playfully and said, ”Come on, Director Wang, others might believe that nonsense from the paparazzi, but don’t make fun of us. We wouldn’t dare to aim so high. Just this morning, we’ve been cursed like nobody’s business. It just so happened we stayed at the same hotel last night, and the paparazzi snapped a few ambiguous photos. Nowadays, it doesn’t cost anything to spread rumors, it’s infuriating.”

Hearing this, Wang Ken seemed a little disappointed, ”So it was just the paparazzi creating rumors? Someone really should deal with these troublemakers.”

Once the small talk was over, Wang Ken said, ”Go get ready first. I still have some segments to confirm. What time is it now? Let me see, two o’clock. It’s about time. We will start recording the show in an hour, and someone will call you then.”

”Sure, you go ahead with your work.”

Zhou Lan led Zhou Yun towards the rest area prepared by the program team.

Popular shows are indeed popular; every guest, no matter their celebrity tier, gets an individual rest room.

Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan entered the rest room, and Zhou Lan said, ”Rest for a while. Today’s recording might not finish until after midnight, and later we still have to take promotional photos.”

”Are you going to stay with me the whole time?” Zhou Yun asked.

”I wasn’t planning to stay the whole time, but given the situation today, I have to stay with you,” Zhou Lan said. ”You rest, I still have some work to deal with, and there are many messages I haven’t replied to.”

”Okay,” Zhou Yun nodded.

She sat down on the couch, ready to check her phone when suddenly someone knocked on the door.
