Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2544: Chapter 2545: Perseverance and Resolve

Due to the commotion caused by the Poetry Competition, the next day Kui Shou went to Hui Zi’s house to propose, and many people in Kyoto secretly laughed for quite some time. Hui Zi didn’t go out for a long time afterward, and some even spread rumors that she was pregnant.

On the other hand, Fangzi’s family soon invited Bai Ruozhu over as a guest. Fangzi’s parents personally thanked Bai Ruozhu, saying that if Bai Ruozhu hadn’t stopped Fangzi that day, Fangzi would have been tricked by Hui Zi’s maid into going to such a place, which would have been troublesome.

”Who knows what that scoundrel would have done,” Fangzi’s mother couldn’t help but curse, but in her agitation began to cough again.

Fangzi’s father quickly soothed her and gently said, ”Don’t be angry, it’s not worth it for such people. Fortunately, we saw through it early, didn’t let her in the door, and didn’t let our Fangzi marry Watanabe.”

Fangzi’s parents are very loving; their family has no concubines. Her father has such a good temper that he even seems like a nice guy but is definitely a good husband.

At this time, the aristocrats in Fusang were also quite fashionable in marrying concubines.

”Madam is unwell, why don’t you let me take a look?” Bai Ruozhu said.

Fangzi appeared excited, ”How did I forget Sister Ruozhu, your medical skills are superb. Thank you so much.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled at her and reached out to take Fangzi’s mother’s pulse.

As she had expected, it was Tuberculosis.

In modern times, Tuberculosis is also called Tuberculosis. If severe, it can cause coughing up blood, but many hospitals have the ability to cure Tuberculosis. In Ancient Times, due to limited medical conditions, once ordinary people caught Tuberculosis, it was almost hopeless.

Moreover, Tuberculosis is contagious, possibly even spreading to family members.

However, this doesn’t mean Fangzi’s mother is beyond help; she’s not yet in the late stage of Tuberculosis.

In her past life, Bai Ruozhu also contracted Tuberculosis as a child. Her mother was anxious to take her to the hospital but was stopped by Grandpa, who said traditional Chinese medicine could cure it.

Though the process was quite painful, having to drink bitter herbal medicine that made her cry bitterly, a few months later, she was cured.

So, she can be considered experienced in treating Tuberculosis.

”Madam, it’s Tuberculosis.” As soon as Bai Ruozhu spoke, the color of Fangzi’s family’s faces changed dramatically, and Fangzi’s mother looked disappointed and paler.

Bai Ruozhu quickly continued, ”But you don’t need to worry; Tuberculosis is not incurable. As long as you actively accept treatment and keep a joyful mood, you can recover in a few months.”

Fangzi excitedly grabbed Bai Ruozhu’s hand, ”Sister Ruozhu, is what you said true?”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”I am a doctor, how could I lie?”

She asked Fangzi to bring pen and ink and started writing a Formula, ”Start with this prescription, and after some time, we’ll look at the situation and change the medicine.”

”Is it just that simple?” Fangzi’s mother couldn’t quite believe it. She had seen several doctors before and had taken a lot of medicines without improvement; could it really be cured just by taking these?

Upon hearing this, Fangzi quickly said, ”Mother, Sister Ruozhu could even save the poisoned Second Prince; you won’t go wrong by listening to her.”

She said this while carefully looking at Bai Ruozhu, fearing that her mother might have unwittingly offended Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu laughed; she could understand a patient’s feelings at the moment. If she got angry about this, wouldn’t that mean she lacked tolerance?

”Of course, it’s not just these medicines. Treating Tuberculosis is crucial to change prescriptions according to different stages, so the medicine will be changed in a few days.” Bai Ruozhu also added, ”Additionally, Tuberculosis is contagious, so your family should also take some. Also, if Madam has phlegm, be sure to spit it into a jar with lime powder; phlegm is the biggest transmission medium, so take care.”

”Alright, alright, I’ll be careful,” Fangzi’s mother nodded earnestly.

”Moreover, do some moderate exercise every day. You’re weak now, and walking may make you short of breath and cause cold sweats, but you must persist in some activities daily. Change into dry clothes after sweating, which is beneficial for treatment. Don’t just lie in bed all day, as it affects the effectiveness of the medication.” Bai Ruozhu continued.

”I’ll be supporting my mother for walks every day,” Fangzi said immediately.

Bai Ruozhu really liked the atmosphere of Fangzi’s family, similar to her own family, so she was also willing to help them.

After chatting for a while, she got up to take her leave. Fangzi personally saw her to the door, and as they approached the exit, Fangzi’s second brother happened to return from outside.

Upon seeing Bai Ruozhu, he immediately stepped forward and bowed deeply.

”I’ve heard from my little sister, thank you white master for helping my little sister,” he said respectfully.

Bai Ruozhu quickly glanced at Fangzi, who secretly signaled to her, indicating she hadn’t said much.

”I just happened to be there, you don’t need to worry about it,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”I didn’t realize those two had such thoughts. Although my sister was lucky and saved by the Madam, I’ll keep this account and won’t let them off in the future!” Yi Teng said solemnly.

There was no ferocity in his eyes, just a resolve to fight back after being wronged. Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”It’s good to think that way; without fighting back, you’ll only be manipulated by others. You need to hit back hard for the other person to know fear and avoid provoking you again. But remember to act according to ability and consider your family more.”

”Master Bai’s teaching is true, I’ve noted it,” Yi Teng said with gratitude.

Subsequently, Bai Ruozhu bid farewell to him, and Fangzi sent Bai Ruozhu onto the horse carriage.

”Sister Ruozhu, I regret telling my brother those things; I’m really afraid he’ll get into trouble. Hui Zi’s family is of a higher status than mine, and Kui Shou is currently quite prominent.” Fangzi said with some regret.

Bai Ruozhu patted her hand and smiled, ”Don’t worry, your brother knows his limits. Always remember, your brother has something better than them—persistence and determination. I believe your brother can do it.”

She couldn’t help but think of her own second brother, who stood up to protect her when they were cornered by Uncle and the old mansion, even using his Scholar status as a guarantee to the elder. That year, her brother was only eighteen, and how many Scholars were there at such a young age?

But where there is will, there is success, and her brother’s persistence and determination to protect family guided him step by step to fulfill his goals.

When she returned to the Posthouse, she found the Astrologer exchanging skills with Qiu Zhi. Even Shanhu, who usually stayed indoors, came out to watch the excitement.

It was unclear whether it was because she was also a Yin Yang Master and wanted to see a Competition between Yin Yang Master and Daoist, or because she was concerned about Qiu Zhi, wanting to cheer him on.

Bai Ruozhu stood next to Shanhu with a smile, asking, ”Do you think Qiu Zhi will win?”

Shanhu nodded, ”He can win; otherwise, wasn’t half my effort wasted?”

Bai Ruozhu snickered, thinking Shanhu had become quite generous, but Qiu Zhi’s pressure had increased.

Finally, Qiu Zhi and the Astrologer ended in a draw, with the Astrologer saying, ”No need to compete further, your strength has greatly increased, and I cannot defeat you.”
