Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2520: Chapter 2521: Approaching Song Yi

The speaker is Gao Zhou, who called out and then walked into the room with a smile, saying, ”I’ve been quite idle recently, and my hands are itching from not treating anyone for a long time. If this continues, I won’t be able to hold on to the title of Medical Saint.”

He glanced at Xinye and said, ”It’s just a fracture. I can take a look at it.”

Bai Ruozhu withdrew her hand, as she wasn’t insistent on being the one to examine Xinye.

”But...” Xinye hesitated, ”Isn’t it said that it’s not good to change doctors halfway through a treatment?”

”It’s just a check on your bone condition. Do you think I, a renowned Medical Saint of Zhongyuan, would end up crippling you?” Gao Zhou widened his eyes, ”I don’t care about your leg, but I do care about my reputation.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, took off her gloves, and said, ”Then you go ahead and check him. I’m a bit hungry, so I’ll head to the Kitchen to make some dimsum.”

With that, Bai Ruozhu left without looking back, leaving Xinye watching her go with an unmistakable look of disappointment in his eyes. Gao Zhou noticed this and snorted heavily. No wonder his unfilial son specially asked him to come over; it’s not like he usually shows such enthusiasm towards him. Apparently, someone has their eyes on his daughter-in-law.

Gao Zhou rolled up his sleeves and began examining Xinye. He wasn’t as gentle as Bai Ruozhu, and besides, he didn’t want to be any softer.

Soon, Xinye let out a muffled groan, clearly in pain.

”Whining over such a little pain? Aren’t you a samurai? Can’t even take a bit of injury, what kind of man are you?” Gao Zhou’s sharp tongue was no worse than his son’s.

He showed a look of disdain, ”You’ve never been on the battlefield, have you? All your skills are just for show?”

Xinye felt angry but couldn’t express it, so he had to grit his teeth and endure until Gao Zhou finished his examination, by which time a layer of fine sweat had appeared on his back.

”It’s alright. There’s no issue. Ruozhu set the bone correctly. If you bump into things and the bone gets misaligned again, that’s deliberately tarnishing her reputation, so stay at home properly. We doctors hate patients who don’t listen.” Gao Zhou said unceremoniously.

”Every word from you is like a thorn. Have I ever offended you?” Xinye finally couldn’t hold back and asked angrily.

Gao Zhou sneered, ”That’s for you to reflect on. Little Bai is my adopted daughter as well as my daughter-in-law, what do you think?”

Xinye was a bit confused; he actually hadn’t figured out his own feelings until now, just couldn’t help but want to come and see.

Seeing that the atmosphere wasn’t good, Sa Tian persuaded Xinye to leave, and on the way, seeing Xinye distracted, he couldn’t help but sigh.

As an orphan, he matured earlier than other children, so he had seen through Xinye’s situation.

”General Chisong doesn’t like us having much contact with Mr. Bai and them, so let’s visit less often for the time being.” Sa Tian felt that Xinye might not have completely figured it out, so it was better not to point it out.

Xinye nodded absentmindedly, ”Okay.”

Once they reached Xinye’s home, Sa Tian, along with the servants, helped Xinye back into the room. Suddenly, Xinye asked, ”Do you think Zhongyuan is good? If Fusang wants to trade with Zhongyuan, will they send some people to go to Zhongyuan?”

Sa Tian’s heart skipped a beat. He had long wanted to follow Mr. Bai and others, but was too embarrassed to bring it up, thinking he was of no use, neither proficient in literature nor martial arts, just capable of doing some translation. But what use would a Fusang translator be in Zhongyuan?

Yet he yearned for the land across the sea, which he imagined to be a beautiful country.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yichun was in high spirits, taking Bai Ruozhu’s hand and saying, ”There’s nothing much to do today. Let’s go out for tea.”

”Okay.” Bai Ruozhu chuckled secretly, clearly amused. Was he in such a good mood because he dealt with a rival?

The two of them left the posthouse, hand in hand, headed to the market, and soon found an elegantly set tea house to sit down in.

Nowadays, Bai Ruozhu could speak a few sentences of the Fusang Language easily enough to order tea and dimsum. The two of them sat in an inconspicuous spot, sipping tea, chatting, and observing the street conditions.

”Look at that person!” Jiang Yichun suddenly lowered his voice, giving Bai Ruozhu a direction with his eyes.

Bai Ruozhu looked over and couldn’t help but reveal a look of surprise in her eyes, asking in a low voice, ”Is that person Song Yi?”

Jiang Yichun nodded slightly, and Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but remark, ”He indeed looks alike, but you can tell he’s a few years younger than Wu Yunfeng.”

”I recently looked into him but found nothing special. He just seems like an ordinary Fusang official, going about his duties during the day and afterwards coming out for tea or heading to Kabukicho.” Jiang Yichun said.

”Didn’t expect to run into him here. He probably likes tea, right?” Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, ”Do you think we should find an opportunity to approach him? He’s been away from Zhongyuan for so long, he definitely wouldn’t recognize you.”

Jiang Yichun hesitated, worried that Wu Yunfeng might have sent a message to Song Yi.

”Don’t worry, it’s hard to send messages across the sea. Even if he got one, he might not know what you look like.” Bai Ruozhu said, ”But we are all from Zhongyuan, recently making some waves in Kyoto; as officials, it’s impossible he doesn’t know us, so it’s better not to disguise and be straightforward.”

Jiang Yichun nodded, ”Don’t startle the snake.”

Once Song Yi sat down, Bai Ruozhu called the waiter over and asked in Chinese, ”Do you have tea with osmanthus? Are there any lighter dimsum?”

The waiter, just a lower-level laborer, didn’t have many opportunities to learn Chinese and could only shake his head blankly, indicating he didn’t understand.

Bai Ruozhu appeared a bit anxious, repeating her request word by word and gesturing as she spoke.

Unfortunately, words like ”osmanthus” and ”light” are not easy to gesture, so even though they sat in a secluded spot, they had already attracted quite a bit of attention.

Song Yi was with his colleague, who wasn’t proficient in Chinese and had only learned some because of their friendship with Song Yi.

”Jingshang, aren’t those two envoys from Zhongyuan? They seem to be having a language barrier. Why don’t you go over and help communicate with the waiter?”

”Mr. Jingshang, wouldn’t that be too forward?” Song Yi hesitated, knowing these people weren’t sent by his elder brother, otherwise, they would have contacted him with a token already. So, he was already hesitant about whether it would be safe to approach them.

”Don’t you know they just treated the Second Prince? That’s our future Emperor. If His Majesty and the Second Prince find out you were there but didn’t help, they would surely blame you.” Jingshang reminded him.

Song Yi couldn’t delay any longer and got up with Jingshang, heading towards Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun.

”Gentlemen, I happen to know some Chinese and can help communicate with the waiter.” Song Yi bowed to Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun.

Jiang Yichun returned the bow, ”Thank you very much, sir.”

Song Yi quickly communicated with the waiter in the Fusang Language, and the waiter, suddenly realizing, quickly said yes and hurried off.

Bai Ruozhu bowed to Song Yi, ”Thank you very much, sir. May I ask how to address you? Are you also from Zhongyuan?”
