Chapter 2506: Chapter 2507: Taking You as My Master

Before, Xinye had the people taken away, saying only that they were safe. He suggested checking after some time to decide whether to arrange for them to go to Bai Ruozhu’s place. However, since Bai Ruozhu and the others temporarily moved into the palace for safety reasons, Xinye hid them for the time being.

”I hope he’s not that stupid, right?” Fo Lanying covered her forehead, wondering why she felt a bit guilty about asking that; she suspected that Xinye might actually be that stupid.

Otherwise, he shouldn’t have disguised a dead body as a Shadow Ninja, especially one without any inner strength.

”Let’s wait and see for now,” Bai Ruozhu sighed. It’s better to adapt to changes without making any of their own. If they alert General Chisong, even if Xinye hasn’t been proven guilty, General Chisong won’t let him go.

”But what if someone finds them out?” Sa Tian asked worriedly.

Jiang Yichun said with a stern face, ”Those ninjas aren’t fools. They’ve been Shadow Ninjas for so long; surely they know how to hide? If they really get caught, it’s just their bad luck. As for Xinye, he can always claim he’s been framed; otherwise, even a fool wouldn’t leave such dangerous evidence at their own home.”

Yuan Licheng couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Jiang Yichun’s words weren’t just about explaining the situation; he was outright calling Xinye an idiot.

Bai Ruozhu was both amused and exasperated, finding that Xinye didn’t think things through enough — perhaps it’s just the straightforwardness of a warrior.

”Then, I’ll go outside to listen for news. If something really happens, I’ll find a way to plead for him,” Sa Tian said, feeling ashamed. He felt that Xinye acted that way also because he was trying to help him.

”Wait a moment!” Bai Ruozhu suddenly stopped Sa Tian, staring intently at him, ”Whatever happens, don’t step forward. I understand how you feel, but if you do, it’ll only add fuel to the fire, complicating things further. We won’t be able to save anyone then.”

Sa Tian was momentarily stunned before saying, ”Yes, Master Bai, I understand.”

After Sa Tian left, the people in the room began discussing the situation. However, everyone felt that Xinye wouldn’t be in much trouble, given that he had the first samurai Luzhi protecting him, unless Xinye himself left unwitting evidence.

Since they were moving out of the palace the next day, everyone chatted for a moment before starting to pack up.

Yuan Licheng was murmuring to Fo Lanying, ”You say Bai Ruozhu has so many herbal medicines, yet she doesn’t seem to find moving house troublesome at all. Look at all the stuff I have for setting up arrays!”

Fo Lanying glared at him, ”Are you comparing yourself to Ruozhu? You don’t even know how many secret methods their Astrology Tower has. Be careful not to say too much or Jiang Yichun will beat you up.”

Remembering Jiang Yichun beating up Xinye, Yuan Licheng instinctively shrank his neck and decided not to mention it again.

Meanwhile, in another room, Bai Ruozhu was also pondering over the matter. Since she wouldn’t be taking many belongings when leaving, wouldn’t that arouse suspicion? It seemed She Zongyi thought she had a similar system, unaware of her ability to hide in Space. It was evident from when the two of them had previously sparred, and Bai Ruozhu hid in the Space, leaving She Zongyi baffled.

Luckily, his system was not omniscient.

With this thought, Bai Ruozhu took out the medical box, placed some herbal medicine and medicine bottles in it, and organized the herbal medicine she had taken from Fusang’s Medicine Storage, intending to place them in the horse carriage when leaving.

And so, the next day arrived quickly. The Emperor invited them to a meal, saying they could leave the palace after dining together.

The second prince, having recovered considerably, attended the banquet with assistance. He even toasted Bai Ruozhu and the others with water instead of wine, making it a joyful meal.

The second prince was also moving; since Bai Ruozhu and the others were leaving, it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to continue staying in Empress Shangzi’s Linzhi Palace. Additionally, the secret passage in his original yard had been filled. The Emperor had it checked inside and out dozens of times, and finally, he could return to his place.

”Master Bai, I...” The second prince was speaking haltingly before parting.

”What’s the matter? I’ll return every few days to give you a follow-up examination; don’t worry. Look at Master Puru of Zhaoti Temple; despite being seriously injured, I offered him follow-up examinations every three days, and he recovered early and returned to his temple for solitary cultivation. You just need another month or two of rest to recover, and it won’t be too late to ascend to the throne then,” Bai Ruozhu said patiently. After all, she was a good doctor.

The second prince’s face flushed slightly, and he appeared somewhat uneasy, struggling to express himself.

Seeing this, Jiang Yichun frowned. What’s going on here? Isn’t this guy trying to confess and feeling embarrassed about it?

Jiang Yichun’s internal alarm bells were ringing. Although the guy wasn’t particularly good-looking, his pitiful appearance might easily garner sympathy. If he confessed, considering his health, Ruozhu might not reject him too harshly either.

With this in mind, Jiang Yichun spoke up, ”Alright, let’s prepare to set off. We’ll need to tidy up when we get back, and let’s not wait until nightfall when we can’t rest properly.”

”Okay.” Bai Ruozhu nodded and was about to head outside when the second prince anxiously rose, but his legs weren’t strong yet. Just as he stood, he stumbled forward.

Before Bai Ruozhu could reach out to support him, Jiang Yichun rushed over like a gust of wind and caught the falling second prince. Bai Ruozhu stood stunned. The scene was somewhat eye-watering.

Jiang Yichun’s hurried embrace ended up wrapping around the second prince’s waist. The picture of a handsome man holding another handsome man was quite striking, especially since one of them was a sickly pretty boy.

Bai Ruozhu suddenly thought that the second prince looked much better in his sickly state than when he was scowling.

Jiang Yichun, cold-faced, plopped the second prince back onto his chair without any gentleness, and his expression was as cold as ice.

The second prince quickly expressed his gratitude, ”Thank you, Lord Jiang, for my impatience.”

”No need,” Jiang Yichun replied icily. You were so eager for my lady’s attention; after I helped you, how can you be so brazen?

”Master Bai, actually, actually...” The second prince stammered again, ”I want to be your apprentice!”

He finally got those last words out with courage after holding them back for a long time.

Bai Ruozhu was momentarily stunned before smiling. This second prince was prideful, with a bit of a childish heart. He wanted to ask her to be his mentor but felt embarrassed, possibly because she was a woman.

Before Bai Ruozhu could respond, Jiang Yichun declared with a stern face, ”We’re soon returning to Zhongyuan, so there won’t be time to teach you anything. Ruozhu doesn’t intend to take on students.”

Bai Ruozhu quickly glanced at Jiang Yichun. Wasn’t that refusal a bit too harsh?

Jiang Yichun was even more displeased. Back when Chu Hai persistently begged to be a disciple, he knew the second prince’s intentions weren’t pure. The kid stumbling earlier was just a ruse to get Ruozhu to help him, and now saying he wants to be her apprentice was just an excuse to get close to her.

This he absolutely wouldn’t allow!
