Chapter 2503: Chapter 2504: Tampering with the Corpses

”Lord Bai, your facechanging technique is truly remarkable!” Sa Tian couldn’t help but praise.

Bai Ruozhu touched her face, ”This isn’t my skill, let’s not talk about these, hurry up.”

She wore a human skin mask, which was given by Gao Zhou. Each of them had one, though others were rougher, hers was exquisitely crafted. Gao Zhou said that in case of big trouble, they could all hide wearing the human skin masks.

”Alright, I’ll first take a few Buddhist scriptures. The guard Sir loves Buddhist scriptures. If I gift him Buddhist scriptures, he surely won’t refuse.” Sa Tian said.

”Then hurry up.”

Jianqi was following them secretly. Bai Ruozhu accompanied Sa Tian back home to fetch the Buddhist scriptures and went straight to the government office guarding the corpses.

”Governor, I’m sorry to visit abruptly.” Sa Tian spoke in Fusang Language, Bai Ruozhu followed him silently, dressed as Sa Tian’s attendant.

”Lord Sa Tian, you’re too polite. It’s been a while since we last met. I’m still reminiscing about your talk on Buddhist scriptures; it was truly enlightening.” The Governor said happily.

Sa Tian quickly took out two Buddhist scriptures, ”Sir is a lover of Buddha, these two Buddhist scriptures were transcribed by me in Zhaoti Temple, and gifting them to such a knowledgeable person like you is most fitting.”

The Governor’s face showed undisguised joy. He quickly took the scriptures, carefully opened them, then bowed to Sa Tian, ”Lord Sa Tian, I truly don’t know how to thank you.”

Sa Tian showed a difficult expression, ”Actually, I’m here today to ask a favor from you.”

”Oh?” The Governor’s smile faded, seeming to have guessed Sa Tian’s difficult request.

”It’s like this, before entering Zhaoti Temple, my elder brother was captured to become a ninja. For years, I’ve been trying to find him. But last night...” Sa Tian paused, showing a mournful look, ”I dreamed of my brother saying he has passed on but is disturbed and cannot rest in peace. So when I heard several ninja corpses were unearthed this morning, I wondered if my brother might be among them.”

Bai Ruozhu secretly observed Sa Tian’s expression, his pain wasn’t feigned; he was using his brother as an excuse, even mourning him.

His hand was tightly clenched in his sleeve, slightly trembling, tears swirling in his eyes.

”How, how could this be.” The Governor wanted to refuse, but seeing his expression, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse directly.

”I also hope the dream is opposite, I just want to recognize. If my brother isn’t among them, I’ll be relieved. If it’s really him...” Sa Tian’s tears already fell, ”Then I’ll beg the General to bury him properly, not wasting our brotherhood.”

”But these corpses were sent by the General, there can be no error. I truly have no authority over them.” The Governor said.

Sa Tian looked at Bai Ruozhu, Bai Ruozhu quietly signaled him.

”I just want to look, and won’t linger. You can accompany me and watch from the side, how about it?” Sa Tian said.

”This...” Words had come this far, the Governor couldn’t refuse anymore.

”But this mustn’t reach the General, even if you find your brother, you can’t mention seeing it here when you ask the General.” The Governor emphasized.

Sa Tian quickly bowed, ”Yes, I understand, thank you, Sir.”

The Governor helped him up, ”Then hurry, the examiner will be here soon, it’ll be bad if you run into him.”

Sa Tian quickly followed the Governor; unexpectedly, the Governor glanced at Bai Ruozhu, ”Let this attendant wait outside.”

”Sir, he’s my cousin, my brother took care of him when young, he wants to see. If it’s my brother, we’ll want to pay respects.” Sa Tian quickly thought of an excuse.

The Governor suddenly stared at Bai Ruozhu, as if trying to discern something, ”Your cousin is shy, doesn’t speak.”

Bai Ruozhu secretly took a deep breath, lowered her voice and said in Fusang Language, ”Thank you, Sir.”

Sa Tian heard her speak Fusang Language, his eyes widened, but seeing the Governor didn’t notice him, he quickly concealed his surprise, slightly nodded to Bai Ruozhu.

Only then did the Governor feel reassured, leading them inward.

Bai Ruozhu’s palms sweated nervously; she’s quick at learning, after staying in Fusang for some time, she could understand part of the language, speak simply, but she’s a Zhongyuan native, the pronunciation differs from Fusang Language, saying wrong could expose her.

Luckily, she performed steadily just now, with no issues.

The trio walked inside, the Governor said, ”Those corpses are all rotten, whether they can be identified, whether you can recognize them, sigh.”

Bai Ruozhu took advantage of his inattention to quietly place a spiritual deer from Space into the back room.

It’s truly a pity for her to give up a spiritual deer; Xiaohei drooled, looking unwilling.

Finally reaching the room with corpses, the smell hit instantly. The Governor didn’t want to go near, after thinking he said, ”Inside the room, you can go see, I’ll wait at the door.”

”Thank you, Sir.” Sa Tian bowed, Bai Ruozhu followed, also bowing, saying ”Thank you, Sir” once more in Fusang Language.

Bai Ruozhu took advantage of having her back to the Governor, took out herbal medicine, stuffing it in her nose, then gave some to Sa Tian. These rotting corpses carry too many germs; without medicine, their bodies would suffer for days afterward.

”How is it? Can you recognize?” The Governor asked.

”My brother once had his leg slashed by a sickle, by checking the corpses’ legs, I’ll know.” Sa Tian quickly said.

His body blocked the Governor’s view, Bai Ruozhu quickly moved forward, soon finding the corpse replaced to disguise.

Seeing this, Bai Ruozhu almost cursed; Xinye is too unreliable by having a corpse with no martial arts pretending, making it easily discovered!

Sa Tian noticed Bai Ruozhu’s expression was off, quickly mouthed words, ”What’s wrong?”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t tell him anything, she could only think of a solution herself.

At this moment, the prison guard’s voice sounded outside, ”Sir, the examiner has arrived!”

”Damn, why did he come so soon, have you checked?” The Governor asked urgently.

”Only one corpse checked, please delay, later we’ll hide in the next room.” Sa Tian quickly said.

”This...” The Governor was unwilling; if it goes wrong he’d bear the responsibility.

Sa Tian was anxious, almost kneeling to the Governor. Fortunately, at this moment the room behind suddenly made a fluttering sound, the guard outside shouted, ”What sound!”

”Something’s wrong in the other room, I’ll check, hurry up, ensure you’re not seen!” The Governor said and hurriedly ran outside.

Sa Tian turned and asked in a low voice, ”How is it?”

Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth, ”The corpse has no martial arts, how to disguise?”
