Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2542: Chapter 2543: He Who Brings Trouble Upon Himself Cannot Escape

By this time, if everyone still doesn’t know what’s going on, then they’re truly foolish.

Though some still couldn’t understand why Hui Zi, having an affair with Watanabe, would bring Fangzi over. What was her intention?

Could it be that she wanted Fangzi to see it and give up on Watanabe? Or perhaps that maid wasn’t Hui Zi’s but someone who discovered this matter and wanted to warn Fangzi?

Many things couldn’t be kept secret in Kyoto, especially now that Watanabe had been subtly hinting around about discussing marriage with Fangzi’s family for the past few days. So more people looked at Fangzi with sympathy, and only a few who knew about Fangzi’s second brother’s affair with Hui Zi secretly glanced at Yi Teng.

Yi Teng didn’t step forward; he flicked his sleeves and turned to leave, his friend hurriedly chased after him.

”Don’t be angry, after all, you didn’t really like that girl. With this situation, her family can’t cling to you either,” his friend whispered.

Yi Teng let out a muffled snort, suddenly feeling somewhat grateful that this matter had occurred, so he didn’t end up marrying such a woman.

Someone had already rushed over and certainly saw two naked bodies entwined together, and the two even made crisp sounds as they bumped against each other. That scene was stunning.

The unmarried ladies who attended the poetry conference quickly avoided it, blushing. However, some braver ones sneaked a peek.

”It seems like something major happened, let’s return to our seats,” Bai Ruozhu said to Fangzi, who listened beside her with cold sweat pooling, wondering how, even with such explosive events, she claimed it wasn’t a big deal.

However, more people thought that Bai Ruozhu was trying to ease Fangzi’s embarrassment and thus improved their impression of her.

The shy girls in such a situation did not want to stay either, so they followed Bai Ruozhu and others back to their seats.

After sitting down, Fo Lanying, seeing no one around, lowered her voice and said, ”Do you know what I heard?”

Fangzi’s face went pale, ”She set me up?”

Fo Lanying nodded, ”It wasn’t me who tricked you, nor Watanabe, but Hui Zi who sent someone to invite you out. She said once the rice is cooked, Fangzi couldn’t help but marry Watanabe. She even advised Watanabe to be decisive, saying Fangzi could only accept if force was used.”

Bai Ruozhu snorted, ”I really underestimated her.”

”And Watanabe isn’t a good person either; he pretended to hesitate, claiming it was inappropriate, but his eyes were filled with wicked desires, eager to proceed,” Fo Lanying patted Fangzi’s shoulder, whispering, ”It seems the heavens are helping you by letting Ruozhu accompany you here, otherwise it’s hard to imagine!”

Fangzi’s face became even paler, ”Thank you both.”

”But Hui Zi is a first-timer. Even if drugged, would she let go so easily?” Bai Ruozhu was a bit suspicious and looked at Fangzi, saying, ”I never make such poisons; I went all out for you.”

Fo Lanying laughed mischievously, ”With my vast experience, she is definitely not a first-timer—it didn’t hurt her a bit, and she was so relaxed, only a ghost would believe she’s a first-timer.”

Bai Ruozhu’s forehead showed three black lines, ”Vast experience? Does your family’s Xiaoyuan know?”

”Hey, I was talking about what I’ve seen, not what I’ve done, don’t tease me, Ruozhu, I have at least put in a lot of effort!” Fo Lanying blushed and almost shouted.

Fangzi was initially feeling down, but seeing Fo Lanying like this, she couldn’t help but laugh, and her mood improved.

”Alright, alright, I was just joking. I’ll give you a string of pearls later!” Bai Ruozhu generously said, making Fo Lanying’s eyes sparkle with delight, ”Ruozhu is the cutest!”

While they were chatting and laughing, many people had already returned, and it wasn’t appropriate to say anything more.

”I didn’t expect Hui Zi to be such a person. Look at her shameless look, I bet it wasn’t her first time.” Someone whispered to their companion.

”Me neither, she seemed especially proper usually, you couldn’t tell at all.”

”And Watanabe isn’t good either, meeting in private like this is disgusting.”

”We’re competing in poetry in the front, and they’re having a tryst in the back, isn’t it just perfect for them to go unnoticed?”

”Then what about the maid who came looking for Fangzi earlier?”

”...”

Everyone was chattering away, their whispers growing louder until the Crown Prince on the judges’ seat coughed twice, reminding everyone of his presence.

”Everyone please stop gossiping, perhaps someone meddled. Let the Poetry Competition continue,” he said, glancing over at Bai Ruozhu, who returned his look calmly. Oh, was he provoking her?

Yaxi didn’t have a good expression and had to urge everyone to continue with the second round. Today’s event had become quite a debacle, and her heart felt somewhat uneasy. Initially, she thought just a few people had gone to search for Hui Zi, not realizing so many had.

She felt guilty, not knowing it was Hui Zi’s self-inflicted misfortune.

If Hui Zi hadn’t sent the maid to deceive Fangzi, no one would have gone searching for her, and so many wouldn’t have witnessed it.

Bai Ruozhu initially wanted to lead just a few of Hui Zi’s acquaintances to find her, but discovering Hui Zi’s malicious scheme against Fangzi, she became even more unconcerned, thinking it was better this way, preventing Fangzi from feeling self-blame.

Afterwards, the poetry conference went smoothly, and the Crown Prince didn’t cause any more trouble. He left early before the conference concluded.

After the poetry conference ended, Bai Ruozhu asked Fo Lanying to escort Fangzi home, as she wanted to talk to Yaxi.

However, Fangzi’s second brother specially came over, bowed to them, and said, ”Thank you both for taking care of my sister, I will take Fangzi home now and will thank you again another day.”

”Please.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a bit more fond of Fangzi’s second brother. Most people would have shamefully left by now, ignoring their sister, but Fangzi’s second brother thought of his sister’s feelings and braved the pressure to wait for her until the end. He’s truly a good brother.

This saved Fo Lanying from having to run an errand, and she accompanied Bai Ruozhu to find Yaxi instead.

”Bai, isn’t this a bit excessive?” Yaxi asked softly, seeing no one around.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Fo Lanying, ”Explain it to her.”

Fo Lanying briefly explained Hui Zi’s plan, which left Yaxi dumbfounded. She covered her mouth, saying, ”How could she incite Watanabe to use force on Fangzi?”

”Anyway, I was going to scheme against her, I’ve acknowledged it to you now, so there’s no need to spread rumors. That maid has already been sent to the Government Office; send someone to investigate, and you’ll know the truth,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Yaxi shook her head, ”No need to investigate, I believe you. She truly brought this on herself.”

”Fortunately, you kept your distance from her, you don’t know she wasn’t a first-timer. Such indecent behavior could damage your reputation,” Fo Lanying said excitedly.
