Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2531: Chapter 2532: Screwed Over by a Useless Teammate

Bai Ruozhu and her companions couldn’t help but laugh, and Fo Lanying added, ”Even Qiu Zhi, this clueless guy, seems to have come around, and now he knows how to care for his wife.”

”Right, just act like you don’t know anything. Shanhu said her sect forbids disciples from marrying, and Qiu Zhi’s Mount Longhu also doesn’t allow Daoists to have wives, so...” Bai Ruozhu shook her head and couldn’t help but sigh, she really thought well of these two.

”They’ve already slept together, who cares about the rules,” Yuan Licheng said disapprovingly. He could even not return to his clan for Fo Lanying, but Qiu Zhi is different. With his determination to save money for Mount Longhu, even refusing to use his seasickness medicine, it’s hard for him to break the sect rules.

Moreover, there’s Shanhu.

When morning came, there weren’t many people at the Inn, so Bai Ruozhu briefly recounted the previous day’s events. After listening, Jianqi frowned and said, ”Master, I’d better protect your safety in the future, otherwise how will I explain things to my brother-in-law when we return?”

Bai Ruozhu laughed dryly twice, ”It’s not that dangerous, just worried we might not be able to save people and leave; Zhitian and Shanhu are the ones in more danger.”

”Speaking of which, it was my fault for being captured,” Zhitian said apologetically.

”By the way, how exactly were you captured yesterday?” Bai Ruozhu quickly asked.

”I was hiding in the Fushan Family, didn’t want to be seen, but then a cat made of talisman paper dashed over, with quite a few people following saying they were catching demons. At that moment, I sensed Qiu Zhi’s qi on that cat and followed it, only to stumble upon that Yard, where an old Yin Yang Master tricked me.” He sighed, ”Ultimately, it was because of my lack of experience.”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, ”It’s not your fault, you were just hurt by a foolish teammate.”

Fo Lanying couldn’t help but burst into laughter, catching the attention of a busy young attendant nearby, so she restrained herself a bit.

”It was absolutely Qiu Zhi who hurt you.” She added.

After eating some good food, the group returned to the Room for a meeting. Bai Ruozhu discussed the plan: since the Fushan Family invited quite a few Yin Yang Masters, they should thoroughly investigate.

Besides, Shanhu might know something, she should be one of the Yin Yang Masters invited by the Fushan Family, right?

Just then, Qiu Zhi returned, somewhat nervously saying, ”Master, Shanhu wants to meet you.”

Bai Ruozhu stood up, ”You all discuss among yourselves first, I’ll go take a look.”

She then stepped out the door to the neighboring Room, with Qiu Zhi following closely behind, appearing somewhat uneasy.

Bai Ruozhu secretly pouted; this truly was like throwing water onto a married daughter. Qiu Zhi had a master-servant contract with her, so he was practically her ”daughter.”

The Room was tidied up a bit, and the window opened for ventilation, but Bai Ruozhu’s keen sense of smell still caught a hint of an ambiguous scent, making her smile more.

Shanhu quickly got up and bowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Madam, I owe you a great debt, from now on if there’s anywhere you need Shanhu’s help, just let me know.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled warmly, ”Don’t worry, I won’t be polite; I happen to have something to ask you.”

”Master!” Qiu Zhi exclaimed anxiously. Bai Ruozhu shot him a glare, ”People always say girls tend to lean outward, you’re not a girl, so why...”

Her voice drew out deliberately, and Qiu Zhi’s face turned instantly red to his neck, even Shanhu flushed, glaring at him angrily to signal him to stop interrupting.

Qiu Zhi shut his mouth obediently, and Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh again. Despite Qiu Zhi’s cowardice, he truly knew how to care for people.

”Madam Bai, please speak.” Shanhu said.

”I’m investigating the Fushan Family’s matter. You should be one of the Yin Yang Masters invited to catch demons, aren’t you? What do you know about these things? Can you tell me?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Shanhu paused, she initially thought Bai Ruozhu needed her to do something specific, but it turned out to be just a question?

”I was passing by, saw a notice posted on the street saying they were recruiting Yin Yang Masters capable of catching demons, with generous rewards. I thought catching demons was my duty, and I could earn some money, so I went directly.” Shanhu began to explain.

”I went along with several Yin Yang Masters, some were quite skilled, others were weak and just pretended. The Fushan Family didn’t pick anyone specifically, just let us stay, treating us very hospitably and politely.”

”I waited for half a day, suddenly a manager came saying that an astrologer Yin Yang Master from Kyoto arrived, so I wouldn’t need to act anymore. I felt a bit angry but the manager politely offered me one hundred taels of silver and hoped I’d stay for a few more days in case of any changes. Since I accepted the money, I decided to stay; unexpectedly, the Fushan Patriarch suddenly died!”

”Rumors spread in the Residence, claiming two demons came to kill him, one was caught by a Yin Yang Master, while the other female demon escaped. I thought it was strange, with so many Yin Yang Masters around, how powerful must the demons be to kill the Patriarch? Curiosity led me to investigate, unexpectedly discovering that the current Patriarch and a Yin Yang Master colluded in this matter.”

Shanhu’s face turned grim, ”It’s not that he schemed against me, making me say this, but I indeed overheard it. In the backyard, the Yin Yang Master asked him for money, he said he’d already given it, but the other threatened him a few times, he then reluctantly handed over a wad of silver banknotes, which satisfied the Yin Yang Master who then left. I originally didn’t intend to meddle in the Fushan Family’s affairs, but whether he discovered me eavesdropping or valued my cultivation, bringing harm to me, I won’t let him get away with it!”

Bai Ruozhu inhaled deeply, ”So Fushan was disappointed with the two demons only teaching his father a lesson a few times, not killing him outright, hence deployed this ruse. Poor demon caught may not even know how they came to kill the old Patriarch. By the way, have you seen a Yin Yang Master wearing a metal mask?”

Shanhu shook her head, ”There weren’t such people when I went, everyone didn’t wear masks, perhaps someone arrived after I did.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a bit disappointed, seems she can’t find information about that person after all.

”Don’t rush into revenge, the Fushan Family now harbors hidden talent, and the Crown Prince is there, going is akin to courting death. I don’t want to take the risk to rescue you only for you to throw yourself into danger again.” Bai Ruozhu added.

Shanhu quickly nodded, ”Madam Bai, don’t worry, I’m impulsive, I will wait until I recover my health and cultivation before planning revenge. A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years!”

Beside her, Qiu Zhi said with a blush, ”I, I can help you, I’ve gained half your cultivation, unsure how to repay you.”

Talking about this made Shanhu’s face turn red, she said angrily, ”Who needs your gratitude, don’t mention it again!”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head secretly, thinking Qiu Zhi was too tactless in picking the timing to say this, he should’ve waited till she left, saying it like this surely embarrasses the young lady?
