Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2509: Chapter 2510: Let’s See Who Kills Whom First

”Tell me what happened,” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Sa Tian began to speak, ”The informant is a distant relative of a warrior family. It was nothing much until a samurai from that family, who was close to him, was whipped and nearly died. In a moment of impulse, the warrior went to trouble Xinye. Normally, he wouldn’t have been able to defeat Xinye, but Xinye had drunk a few more cups during lunch and was staggering. Caught off guard by the sudden attack, he ended up breaking a leg.”

Sa Tian explained succinctly, and Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”Drinking really leads to trouble. If you can’t handle your liquor, don’t drink. Now he can’t even protect himself and doesn’t even have anyone by his side.”

”Xinye’s parents died early, and he’s a loner, never bringing servants around,” Sa Tian explained.

Jiang Yichun, however, was in high spirits, ”I said he wasn’t well-trained. Otherwise, how could he get his leg broken?”

”I’ll go see him again,” Sa Tian planned to leave since Bai Ruozhu wouldn’t join him.

”Wait, I’ll go with you,” Bai Ruozhu called out to Sa Tian. Sa Tian was pleased when Bai Ruozhu agreed to go.

”What’s there to see? Breaking a leg isn’t fatal,” Jiang Yichun said stubbornly.

Bai Ruozhu replied as she walked out, ”I’ll disguise myself, so others won’t know I’m visiting him. I have questions to ask him.”

Of course, she intended to ask about the coroner’s matters.

”I’ll accompany you,” Jiang Yichun, though displeased, decided to join his lady.

”Too many people will draw attention. I’ll disguise as a doctor instead,” Bai Ruozhu said, glaring at Jiang Yichun to hint not to mess around. He understood her concerns.

Jiang Yichun snorted but didn’t stop her, knowing that if the matter wasn’t clarified, his woman would surely be upset, possibly even turn against him.

Bai Ruozhu returned to her room for a disguise, still using that human skin mask, changing her attire and applying makeup to appear older.

”Let’s go.”

Sa Tian led the way, and Bai Ruozhu rode the horse carriage with him. Soon, they arrived at Xinye’s residence. As they entered the yard, they heard Xinye talking to someone.

”You needn’t worry about this; I’ll get you justice,” a cold voice resonated— it was the voice of the first warrior, Lord Luzhi. Although Xinye was a subordinate of General Chisong, he was also one of Luzhi’s men. If he harbored a Shadow Ninja, Luzhi would deal with him, but if he had been beaten and disabled, it would be a blow to Luzhi’s prestige.

”No need to trouble you, my lord. Once I’m healed, I’ll make that bastard regret it!” Xinye’s voice was strong, indicating that apart from his leg, his body was fine.

”Once you’re healed, the General will have handled him already. You won’t have a chance,” Luzhi coldly said.

Bai Ruozhu mouthed to Sa Tian that Luzhi was inside, suggesting she wouldn’t enter.

For some reason, she vaguely felt that Luzhi was much more formidable than Xinye, possibly capable of seeing through her disguise.

Xinye seemed concerned and quickly nodded, not wanting Luzhi’s voice to intrude further, raising his voice, ”Since you’re here, come inside.”

Having said that, leaving wouldn’t be appropriate. Bai Ruozhu was pondering whether Luzhi only sensed Sa Tian when Luzhi once again spoke.

”Don’t dawdle outside. It looks suspicious,”

Sa Tian glanced at Bai Ruozhu, and seeing her nod, he entered the yard first.

The yard was small, with a hall visible upfront. Sa Tian hurried over to salute, saying, ”Greetings, Lord Luzhi. I’ve brought a doctor to check on Lord Xinye’s injuries.”

”You’re considerate,” Luzhi said indifferently, ”Since when did you become so close?”

Xinye cast a dissatisfied glance at Sa Tian, saying, ”I’ve had a doctor look at it already. No need to bother Mr. Sa Tian.”

Sa Tian felt embarrassed and quietly glanced at Bai Ruozhu, who stood with her head down, thinking she would leave.

”Well, since we’re here, let’s have a look,” Luzhi suddenly changed his attitude.

Bai Ruozhu had no choice but to bow to the two, speaking in a hushed voice in Fusang Language, ”Greetings, my lords.”

Luzhi continued to emit a cold aura, while Bai Ruozhu went to check on Xinye’s leg. He looked impatient, clearly not recognizing her.

When it was time to discuss the medical condition, although Bai Ruozhu spoke basic Fusang Language, speaking at length would reveal her non-Fusang origin through her accent.

”How long does Lord Bai intend to maintain this act?” Luzhi’s voice suddenly sounded, startling Bai Ruozhu into looking up, meeting Luzhi’s eyes.

”So it is Lord Bai,” Luzhi coldly laughed, seemingly amused, but his expression was chilling. ”What might Lord Bai mean by such a disguise? Is there something unspeakable?”

Bai Ruozhu paused, glaring at Luzhi fiercely, ”Watch your words, Lord Luzhi. Don’t push my limits!”

”Do not misunderstand, Lord Luzhi,” Sa Tian hurriedly intervened, explaining, ”I asked Lord Bai to examine Lord Xinye’s injuries, fearing that the General might misinterpret their closeness, hence requesting Lord Bai to disguise.”

Luzhi snorted, ”Who are you to ask her a favor, making her willingly help you?”

”I...,” Sa Tian’s face turned red down to his neck, realizing he had no status.

Bai Ruozhu grew even more impatient with Luzhi, thinking he was out of line, just like Xinye earlier.

”Why disdain him, my lord? Sa Tian has been helping me with translations and teaching me Fusang Language. We Zhongyuan people dislike owing favors, so I agreed to his request. This doesn’t relate to status. The lord enjoys privilege and may not value anyone else?” Bai Ruozhu spoke more harshly, feeling no need to show Luzhi respect.

”Woman, do you really think I won’t dare fight you?” Luzhi barked lowly.

Bai Ruozhu instantly revealed her dagger, ”Come on, fight! Let’s see who kills whom first!”

Sa Tian anxiously stammered, ”D-don’t be impulsive. Let’s talk calmly.”

As Luzhi, the first warrior, nobody dared draw a weapon on him usually, making him even angrier. With a clang, his samurai sword was unsheathed, its tip directed at Bai Ruozhu.

”Don’t think beating Xinye makes you able to defeat me. If capable, defeat me openly,” Luzhi stated.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled disdainfully, ”I’m no samurai with your spirit. There’s no fair fighting; deception is valid. Could you command your enemy to duel?”

Luzhi narrowed his eyes, ”What’s that supposed to mean? What have you done?”

”Why don’t you find out yourself?” Bai Ruozhu’s lips curled slightly. She wasn’t one to boast; facing the first warrior made her prepare thoroughly.
