Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2512: Chapter 2513: Feeding

”They say it’s a group of pirates coming from the sea, absolutely audacious. It’s been many years since pirates dared to steal ships at the pier. Both the Emperor and Chisong have received the news, and they are furious,” Mo Beishan said.

”It’s Boss Hei and his gang!” Bai Ruozhu exclaimed.

Mo Beishan was startled, ”What? Weren’t they dead?”

The others were also in disbelief. They were trapped in that mysterious place on the island; could they have managed to escape?

”I just learned from talking to the astrologer that the island traps people for ten days. When the time is up, those trapped will automatically come out, and they don’t suffer from hunger or thirst during those days,” Bai Ruozhu explained.

”That’s just too arrogant!” Yizi’s small face flushed with anger. ”Are they picking a fight in such a blatant way?”

Bai Ruozhu smirked angrily, ”That’s because their master isn’t faring well, like a dog driven into a corner.”

”I’ll take some people to inventory what was lost, and later we’ll settle accounts with them,” Jiang Yichun said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Jianqi, fetch me the medicine box. I also want to check on the injured ship workers.”

”Yes,” Jianqi replied.

When Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun reached the sea ship, they found more than one person injured, including Teng Ya’s father, Teng Liu.

”Master, please save Teng Ya’s father. His arm can’t be crippled!” Teng Ya’s mother cried, kneeling in front of Bai Ruozhu. This woman, who seemed different from regular boatwomen, was now completely flustered, losing all her usual composure.

Bai Ruozhu quickly supported her, ”I’ll take a look right away.”

She rushed into the ship cabin, heading straight to Teng Liu’s side.

Teng Liu’s injury was severe, with his arm covered in blood, and the bed was stained with large patches. The wound had been hastily wrapped with some cloth, handled in a very rushed manner.

Bai Ruozhu quickly removed the cloth, revealing the deep wound that reached the bone.

The wound was a knife cut, very deep, obviously inflicted with a blade technique using inner strength, even causing cracks in the bone. Any deeper, and probably half the arm would have been severed.

”Don’t worry, there’s still a way,” Bai Ruozhu said quickly, beginning to stop Teng Liu’s bleeding. At this point, it wasn’t about saving his arm; if the bleeding continued, his life would be in danger.

Jianqi, seeing Teng Ya’s mother crying heavily, stopped her outside the room, ”Calm down and prepare some hot water so the master can focus on saving people.”

He had seen Bai Ruozhu treating people many times, so he roughly knew what she might need.

Bai Ruozhu, without turning her head, said, ”Ask Mo Beishan to arrange for someone to bring Teng Ya over. Let her stay on the boat and take care of her father for the time being.”

Jianqi went to handle it immediately. Teng Ya’s mother had just dried her eyes and told herself to be strong, but hearing how thoughtful Bai Ruozhu was for them, she started crying again, moved.

By the time Teng Ya was brought over, Bai Ruozhu had finished treating Teng Liu, stopped the bleeding, sutured the wounds where needed, and prepared blood replenishing medicine. The next step was to watch overnight to ensure he didn’t develop a fever.

Seeing her father in this state, Teng Ya’s face turned as pale as paper, almost breaking into tears.

Fortunately, Bai Ruozhu gave her a glare and said, ”Don’t rush to cry; you’ve studied medical skills with me for a while. If nothing else, you can at least take care of your father. Monitor his condition over the next few days, use physical cooling if he has a fever, and have someone notify me if his condition worsens.”

”Yes,” Teng Ya said, forcing her tears back; this was not the time for her to cry.

Bai Ruozhu then stood up, ”I’ll go check on the others.”

”Master!” Teng Ya called out to Bai Ruozhu, suddenly dropping to her knees with a thud, ”Thank you, Master, for saving my father. Teng Ya will never forget this kindness.”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”What are you saying, child? Don’t delay me from treating the other injuries.”

Hearing this, Teng Ya quickly got up from the floor.

Jiang Yichun and Mo Beishan gathered some more information before Mo Beishan took people to the city to gather news, to see where Boss Hei’s gang was hiding.

According to what they learned, Boss Hei’s crew swam from the sea to the ship. Their vessel didn’t come close to the pier, so after stealing some goods, they escaped into the city with them. The situation was chaotic then, so no one knew where they fled.

Bai Ruozhu kept busy treating the injured, and by the time she was done, it was already dark outside.

”Madam, you haven’t eaten yet. I brought some food,” Teng Ya’s mother brought some food over.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t feel it when she was busy, but now she could hear her stomach growling, so she accepted the chopsticks and started eating without refusing.

Not long after, Jiang Yichun returned. Seeing her eating, he sat next to her and said, ”Why are you eating so late? I understand you want to save people, but you must take care of yourself.”

Bai Ruozhu turned to him with a smile, ”You haven’t eaten, have you?”

Jiang Yichun paused, then mumbled an affirmative response.

”Hah, and you were scolding me. You’re the same.” Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Teng Ya’s mom, is there more food?”

”Yes, yes, I’ll get it,” Teng Ya’s mother replied quickly, hurrying out of the room to the kitchen below for more food.

Jiang Yichun reached over, took Bai Ruozhu’s chopsticks, and put a piece of fish into his mouth.

”Those are my used chopsticks!” Bai Ruozhu exclaimed.

”Then I’ll feed you,” Jiang Yichun grinned, offering some green veggies to her mouth.

Bai Ruozhu blushed, ”I can eat by myself. Is this the time for such nonsense?”

”I’m worried about you, how is that nonsense?” Jiang Yichun said, smiling as he offered another piece of fish to her mouth.

Bai Ruozhu frowned lightly. She wasn’t really fond of fish, having grown tired of it, but given the limited supplies on the boat, fish and some veggies were all there was.

Jiang Yichun noticed her displeasure and refrained from giving her more fish, murmuring, ”We’ll have something else when we get back to the posthouse.”

”Mm,” Bai Ruozhu replied casually, her mind occupied with the day’s events, not paying attention as Jiang Yichun fed her. She subconsciously opened her mouth to eat.

Teng Ya’s mother returned with more food, stopping at the door as she saw the scene. She paused, a look of envy in her eyes. Mr. Jiang and Madam Bai seemed to have such a deep relationship; she wondered if her Teng Ya could find a man who truly loved her. But then she shook her head. Her Teng Ya was still young. It was too early to think about this.

Moreover, with their status as criminals, how could they dare to hope for such a fine marriage?

Jiang Yichun had already noticed Teng Ya’s mother; he said nonchalantly, ”Put down the food and go along with your work.”

Teng Ya’s mother quickly set down the food, bowed, and retreated. Her movements were exceptionally precise, resembling those of a stewardess from among the aristocrats.
