Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2370: Chapter 2369: He’s the Mastermind Behind the Scenes

Of course, to avoid any irreversible accidents, Bai Ruozhu still instructed Yuan Licheng to be cautious. The array only targets people with certain inner strength and won’t harm ordinary people. Furthermore, for their convenience, Yuan Licheng placed array stones on their bodies, allowing them to enter the array without being attacked.

At this moment, Wa Shu’s expression suddenly changed drastically, and he said in panic, ”Where is the Witch Doctor? Why hasn’t the Witch Doctor come?”

Bai Ruozhu quickly looked around; everyone else was there, but the Witch Doctor was not!

Since everyone else had family present, it was easy to identify who was missing, but the Witch Doctor lived alone and was thus easily overlooked. Besides, she often took the lead in many situations earlier, so no one expected that she wouldn’t come.

”What do we do now? The Witch Doctor has been acting strangely these days. Hopefully, nothing has happened to her!” Wa Shu said anxiously.

Bai Ruozhu thought about the situation within the array and the hidden hand behind it, feeling a sinking sensation in her heart.

”Village Chief, don’t worry, I’ll go check it out and make sure to bring her here.” After speaking, Bai Ruozhu strode outside. Wa Wei caught up and said, ”Master Bai, I will go with you.”

Bai Ruozhu turned to look at her, ”You stay here; it’s dangerous outside.”

One Witch Doctor who doesn’t know martial arts is troublesome enough. Adding another would only increase the danger.

Wa Shu pulled Wa Wei back. ”Stop adding to the chaos!”

Wa Wei pouted and obediently retreated.

After leaving the Holy Land, Bai Ruozhu hurriedly sought out Jiang Yichun and told him, ”Everyone else has gone in, but the Witch Doctor hasn’t.”

Jiang Yichun frowned, ”What’s with that Shaman again? She’s always causing trouble!”

”Let’s hurry and take a look.” Bai Ruozhu pulled on Jiang Yichun’s hand and set off. Previously, she had wronged the Witch Doctor, even poisoning her, causing temporary madness, which probably affected the Witch Doctor as well. Bai Ruozhu felt somewhat guilty about it.

The two quickly ran towards the Witch Doctor’s house, only to hear a scream before they arrived.

”That’s not the Witch Doctor’s voice; it’s that person!” Bai Ruozhu exclaimed, quickening her pace.

Jiang Yichun grabbed Bai Ruozhu, ”The array is working! He was caught off-guard by the array’s attack. But doesn’t that voice sound familiar to you?”

Bai Ruozhu stopped, her face turning grim, ”How could it be him!”

Both grew more vigilant as they carefully moved forward, finding a secluded spot to hide.

Sure enough, they saw the black-clad mastermind, his face pale, grabbing the Witch Doctor by the collar, angrily demanding, ”Quick, tell me how to get out of this array!”

The Witch Doctor’s face twisted in fear, ”What array? How would I know?”

”Stop playing dumb. If you don’t know, why isn’t the array attacking you?” the black-clad man shouted angrily. Blood dripped from his left shoulder, leaving a trail on the ground.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances. It really was him!

They dared not act rashly since the Witch Doctor was in his hands. Though they didn’t like her, if she died now, they couldn’t explain it to the people back on Luili Island, especially since they were the ones who attracted this fiend here.

”I really don’t know! Let me go! I’m the Witch Doctor here, and if you dare harm me, Lady Nüwa won’t forgive you!” The Witch Doctor shouted in anger, feeling humiliated that these outsiders didn’t fear her.

The black-clad man’s face twisted in rage, ”If you know nothing, then you’ll die!”

His hand tightened around the Witch Doctor’s neck. She struggled in agony, on the verge of suffocation.

”Furball!” Bai Ruozhu secretly commanded. Furball turned into a white light, darting towards the man and biting his hand. The man, in pain, let go of the Witch Doctor.

Jiang Yichun darted forward like a gust of wind, swiftly pulling the stunned Witch Doctor aside.

”So you knew all along!” he gritted his teeth, rapidly applying pressure to a few points on his body. He realized he was poisoned.

”Du Zhongshu, why can’t you just leave us alone?” Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth, asking, ”How deep is your hatred for me, or are you just too bored to follow us onto the boat?”

Indeed, the mastermind was Du Zhongshu!

He threw his head back and laughed until tears streamed down his face, ”I hate you so much, hated being discarded by this man!”

Jiang Yichun coldly looked at him, ”I will never abandon her. You should give up on that thought.”

Du Zhongshu couldn’t withstand Furball’s poison, black blood dripping from his mouth. He laughed, wiping the blood from his mouth with a look uglier than crying, ”I wasn’t careful enough today, letting you gain the upper hand. But one day, I will kill you both!”

”There won’t be any ’one day’, you will die here today!” A cold light shot from Jiang Yichun’s eyes. In the Capital, it was inconvenient to kill him, but no one knew he came here. If not now, when?

Despair flashed in Du Zhongshu’s eyes, ”Even as a ghost, I won’t let you go!”

Jiang Yichun was ready to strike, but Bai Ruozhu stopped him, saying, ”One last question. How did your martial arts improve so much? Where did you learn to use poison?”

”What’s in it for me if I answer? Would you let me go?” Du Zhongshu retorted with a sarcastic smile, tears streaming down from his eyes.

”No.” Bai Ruozhu replied firmly.

Du Zhongshu laughed up to the sky, ”Then why should I tell you?”

Unable to bear it, Jiang Yichun moved, but suddenly Du Zhongshu shot forward, running towards the beach. He was so fast even Bai Ruozhu didn’t expect his agility, explaining why he always managed to evade Jiang Yichun’s pursuit.

Jiang Yichun and Bai Ruozhu hurriedly followed, only to see Du Zhongshu rush to the sea and quickly dive into the water.

”Wait here for me!” Jiang Yichun said to Bai Ruozhu, then jumped into the sea, searching everywhere and using his water control ability, but failed to find any trace of Du Zhongshu, as if he had vanished entirely.

A while later, Jiang Yichun emerged from the water, shouting to Bai Ruozhu on the shore, ”He’s gone.”

”Come up, no need to search further. If he found a way to escape, searching is pointless. But even if he escaped, we have nothing to fear. Let’s see if he can endure the poisonous insect poison.” Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth.

Jiang Yichun returned from the sea. He wanted to tell Bai Ruozhu that Du Zhongshu’s relentless pursuit was because he had feelings for her. If Bai Ruozhu couldn’t tell, how could he not?

But thinking of all Du Zhongshu did, Jiang Yichun decided not to mention it to Ruozhu, fearing it would make her feel awkward.
