Chapter 2363: Chapter 2362: Making Amends

In Space, Bai Ruozhu was anxiously stamping her feet, ”What should we do? What if your father and Jianqi have a conflict with the islanders?”

Jiang Yichun was also worried, but if they went out now, it would only make the situation worse.

”It shouldn’t happen; at most, my father and the others will go back to the boat first. Once they leave, let’s hurry out and find a solution.” He said.

Watching the crowd leave with anger, the Village Chief could only follow along. Bai Ruozhu watched their backs and slowly calmed down.

Maybe, as they said, the Holy Spring truly has spirit, which is why it chose to enter her Space. Instead of blaming herself endlessly, she should think of ways to solve the problem at hand.

”From what they mentioned earlier, it seems that this place isn’t usually used freely; only when someone on the island is ill is it brought here.” Bai Ruozhu analyzed, ”The Hot Spring is rich in minerals, which indeed have antibacterial properties and help recover from typhoid, and even treat skin diseases. But the spring isn’t all-powerful; there are certainly severe illnesses it can’t cure, but it helps with common diseases, which makes the islanders regard it as a Holy Spring.”

”This Hot Spring Water is also unique.” Jiang Yichun added.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Since I’ve received their Holy Spring, I must take some responsibility. I’ll leave them some medicine and medical books so that the island has a doctor and the ability to treat themselves. Even without the Holy Spring, they wouldn’t fear illness.”

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”You have such a kind heart; others would’ve run away long ago.”

Bai Ruozhu glared at him, ”Am I that kind of person? Things are settled outside, let’s go.”

The two left Space, carefully circled back, and indeed saw Gao Zhou and others confronting the islanders.

”Foster father, what’s going on?” Bai Ruozhu pretended to be unaware and approached.

The bearded man glared at Bai Ruozhu, ”Where did you go? Did you do something to anger the Goddess Nuwa?”

Jiang Yichun stepped forward to shield Bai Ruozhu, and faced the bearded man, saying, ”What did we do? We’ve been on the island for less than two hours, unaware of what happened. What do you mean by this?”

”You...”

”Enough, stop arguing!” Wa Shu hurriedly stood between them, bitterly explaining, ”The island’s Holy Spring suddenly dried up. That spring protected our Luili Island for a thousand years, curing illnesses on this island. Now that it’s suddenly gone, what should we do in the future?”

”Your Holy Spring wouldn’t dry up overnight, right? We’ve been on the island for less than two hours and haven’t seen the spring you mentioned; it couldn’t dry that fast, could it?” Gao Zhou shouted.

”It must be your presence that angered the Goddess Nuwa, and she took back the Holy Spring. Get off our Luili Island, leave!” The bearded man shouted, clearly resenting outsiders.

Others joined in shouting, making Bai Ruozhu and her companions’ situation quite awkward. Gao Zhou’s expression grew darker, and he said to Li Jin, ”Forget it, let’s leave!”

Li Jin’s expression was also awkward, angrily telling Wa Shu, ”Is this how you treat guests? Wa Ling would never have done this!”

Wa Shu’s face turned instantly pale, ”Wa Ling is dead!”

He almost yelled it with all his strength, quieting the scene again. Bai Ruozhu was startled, glancing at him. It was the second time he said this today.

Li Jin paused, then sighed, ”Let’s leave.”

”Wait!” Bai Ruozhu said, the bearded man glaring at her, ”What do you want now?”

Bai Ruozhu ignored him and spoke to Wa Shu, ”Old Wa, I just heard that your island’s Holy Spring, relied on for healing, has dried up. I can understand your feelings, but leaving won’t change this fact. Shouldn’t the top priority be solving the islanders’ medical issues?”

Wa Shu, as the Village Chief, quickly calmed down, looked at Bai Ruozhu, and asked, ”Does Lord Bai have any good ideas?”

”Isn’t there a doctor on the island?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”There’s a Witch Doctor.” Wa Shu replied.

After all, it’s a small island, very backward in terms of medical care.

”I noticed the island has many herbal medicines that you haven’t utilized.” Bai Ruozhu took out a badge and said, ”I’m the Chief Doctor appointed by the Danliang Emperor, and my foster father is the Emperor’s proclaimed Saint Doctor. If Old Wa doesn’t oppose, we can teach you some basic medical skills. In the future, if you encounter headaches or fever, you’ll have treatment methods.”

Perhaps due to the reliance on the Holy Spring, the islanders didn’t seem overly happy upon hearing this. Wa Shu sighed, saying, ”This is all we can do.”

Bai Ruozhu clicked her tongue inwardly, wondering what is meant by ”all we can do.” There should have been a doctor on this island; the Hot Spring can only treat simple illnesses. They are too superstitious about the spring.

The bearded man unwillingly said, ”Chief, if you let them stay longer, who knows what will happen...”

At this moment, a domineering voice interrupted him, ”The Holy Spring is already dry; what more could go wrong? I think learning medicine is sensible; if you don’t learn, I will.”

The speaker was, of course, Wa Shu’s granddaughter, Wa Wei. This time, she respectfully saluted Bai Ruozhu, ”Lord Bai, I am willing to learn medical skills from you. I hope Lord Bai doesn’t despise this girl’s ignorance.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded inwardly, appreciating Wa Wei’s straightforwardness, whether liking or disliking, she was quite open.

”Good, anyone willing to learn can come; we can start now.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Wa Wei called out, ”Wait a moment! I’ll get paper and pen to take notes and avoid forgetting.”

Saying that, she dashed off in a hurry, clearly determined.

Wa Shu thoughtfully watched his granddaughter’s back, then turned to Bai Ruozhu and greeted, ”Lord Bai, thank you.”

”No need to be polite, Chief; since we are staying on the island, it’s best to help.” Bai Ruozhu replied courteously.

Gao Zhou was unpleasantly solemn, annoyed at being involved. Given Bai Ruozhu’s character, she must be linked to this; otherwise, why is she so enthusiastic?

Soon, Wa Wei returned with paper and pen, along with a small bottle of ink. She was well-prepared.

Her forehead was dotted with fine beads of sweat, and she said breathlessly, ”I’m ready; we can start.”

Seeing her resolution to learn medicine, with such a devoted student, Bai Ruozhu’s confidence in teaching increased.

She first briefly explained the symptoms of cold and flu and then led everyone to a plant, saying, ”This is called Perilla, it helps expel cold. Cook it with ginger to induce sweating, very effective.”

”It turns out it has this effect; we usually just let it grow wild.” Wa Wei commented.
