Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2361: Chapter 2360: Luili Island

”Wow, that’s great, there’s finally an island!” Fo Lanying was the first to shout. She was, after all, a young girl who had been cooped up on the boat for too long, and she cried out upon seeing the island.

Her cheerful voice infected the sailors and ship workers on the deck, and everyone joined in with cheers.

This wasn’t the first time they had encountered an island at sea, but it was the most relaxed time on this ship because the evil demon Zheng Xin was no longer around.

Yuan Licheng quietly ran to find Bai Ruozhu and asked in a low voice, ”Madam, what should we do with the living dead?”

”Hide him well, under no circumstances should he be caught by others,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Yuan Licheng was a bit worried, ”Will he really not die if he doesn’t eat or drink?”

Bai Ruozhu smiled with a bit of evil aura, ”Did I administer my poison casually?”

This poison was something she found in the ”Poison Classic” and was a very difficult poison to prepare. It’s also deadly, making a person appear dead and then enabling them to live on minimal bodily functions without eating or drinking, making them experience something worse than death.

Bai Ruozhu occasionally fed him a red pill to supplement his Qi Blood, which kept him from dying and made him a mere living dead.

Yuan Licheng shrank his neck, ”I think I’ll set up another array.”

He wasn’t afraid of Zheng Xin being discovered but rather of the fearsome Bai Ruozhu.

The Shipping Department’s officials had already cleared their suspicions. As soon as the ship docked, they and Mo Beishan left the ship to meet the island officials. Fortunately, Danliang’s ships frequently visited Luili Island, so the procedures were easily handled, and Bai Ruozhu and her group disembarked, finally feeling ”grounded.”

The people of Luili Island were all natives, and every time a Danliang ship came, they would crowd around out of curiosity. This time was no exception, and many children laughed and gathered around.

Bai Ruozhu asked Yizi to give them some candy, and the children were even happier, looking at Bai Ruozhu with both joy and longing.

”These children long for the world outside,” Bai Ruozhu murmured softly.

Shipping Department’s Li Jin laughed and said, ”Every year, some people from Luili Island go to our Danliang. As long as they complete the procedures, our official ship will take them there.”

Bai Ruozhu pondered this, suspecting it was a channel for the wealthy, as the average family couldn’t complete such procedures, and could only satisfy their curiosity by looking at these mainland visitors.

At this moment, an old man with white hair and beard brought a little girl over, respectfully saluting them, and said, ”This old man is the village chief of Luili Island, Wa Shu, and this is my granddaughter Wa Wei. She will serve Lord Bai for the next few days.”

It seemed that Li Jin had already introduced their identities to the village chief and explained Bai Ruozhu’s importance.

The little girl showed reluctance, and Wa Shu secretly pinched her. Reluctantly, she performed a courtesy, saying, ”Wa Wei greets Lord Bai.”

Bai Ruozhu didn’t intend to have someone serve her, but at that moment, it was not appropriate to decline the village chief’s kindness.

She smiled and said, ”All right, these days, I’ll have to trouble the village chief and Miss Wa.”

Wa Wei looked up at her with some surprise, perhaps not understanding why Bai Ruozhu didn’t get angry or snub Wa Wei.

Wa Shu was delighted, the wrinkles on his face deepened with his smile, ”Master Jiang and Master Bai must be tired, the accommodations have been arranged for you all, although the island’s conditions are simple, we ask for your understanding.”

”No problem, we will adapt to local customs,” Jiang Yichun said.

Upon hearing his voice, Wa Wei looked at Jiang Yichun, stunned for a moment. Bai Ruozhu secretly thought that Achun was indeed a persuasive figure, attracting women’s attention wherever he went.

Soon, Wa Wei stopped looking at Jiang Yichun, lowered her head, and followed behind, her mood seemingly a bit downcast.

”It’s the first time you esteemed ones have visited our Luili Island, how about this old man tells you a legend?” Wa Shu said with a chuckle.

Nearby, Li Jin said, ”Old Wa loves to tell stories when he sees guests.”

Bai Ruozhu was interested, ”Sure, please go ahead, Old Wa.”

Wa Shu chuckled and said, ”Do you know why our island is called Luili Island? You probably noticed while at sea that from a distance, the island looks emerald green as if a bead is embedded in the sea.”

Wa Shu led the way and continued, ”Legend has it that when the goddess Nuwa mended the heavens with five-colored stones, one of these stones fell into the sea, forming our Luili Island. So even though our island is small, it is rich in resources, and the islanders are self-sufficient, working at sunrise and resting at sunset—living a carefree life.”

He laughed at his own words, while a child watching for fun muttered, ”Every day is the same sun, the same island, what’s interesting about that?”

Wa Shu pretended not to hear and continued, ”That’s why people say this is a blessed place. If you esteemed ones are not busy, you could stay for a while.”

”Thank you, Old Wa. Unfortunately, we have important tasks to attend to and can’t stay for many days,” Bai Ruozhu replied with a smile.

Wa Shu laughed and said no more, soon arriving at their accommodations. The houses here were somewhat like the Diaojiao Buildings of the Jiuli Clan, with legs underneath but different roofs.

The houses were cleaned very well, all vacant, seemingly reserved for receiving guests like them.

”You all rest first, tonight the island is hosting a Bonfire Banquet to welcome you,” Wa Shu said and then bid farewell.

Jiang Yichun made a simple arrangement, and everyone returned to their respective rooms.

Ding Lao was helped off the boat by Fang Luo and Qiu Zhi, his face full of excitement because he hadn’t been off the boat for many years due to being imprisoned.

Bai Ruozhu quickly tidied up a bit and then took Jiang Yichun for a stroll around the island. They hadn’t walked far before they saw Wa Wei talking to a dark-skinned girl.

”Can’t you see my grandpa’s intention? He wants those esteemed ones to take me to Danliang, but I don’t want to leave the island one bit,” Wa Wei said angrily, ”Didn’t you want to see the world outside? So why don’t you go instead of me?”

”I wouldn’t dare, if your grandpa found out, he’d scold me to death.” The dark-skinned girl shrank her neck, ”The outside world is so fun, why don’t you want to go?”

Wa Wei’s expression changed slightly, lowering her head as she said, ”Don’t you know? My grandpa wants me to find my brother and bring him back. Since he doesn’t want to return, what good is it for me to look for him? I’m good here on the island and don’t want to go so far away.”

Bai Ruozhu pulled Jiang Yichun to take another path. Being caught eavesdropping on two little girls would not be appropriate.

She initially thought that Wa Wei was being difficult and didn’t want to serve others, only to realize she didn’t want to leave Luili Island. However, aren’t girls her age all curious about the world outside?

The two didn’t walk far before encountering some mist, the sound of flowing water resonating in the distance, creating an almost fairyland-like atmosphere.
