Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2350: Chapter 2349: Bloody Darkroom

”Don’t be impulsive, lest our inexperience makes things worse,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Qiu Zhi hurriedly nodded, glad he hadn’t acted impulsively.

The boat looked chaotic at the moment, but upon closer inspection, the sailors and ship workers were busy, yet each had their duty, clearly having encountered such situations countless times before.

Someone was giving commands in front, some sailors were controlling the sails, and on either side of the deck, some were shooting arrows, or throwing harpoons with ropes into the water, then pulling the ropes back to retrieve the harpoons.

Bai Ruozhu looked at Tang Feng, ”Do you think it might be a whale?”

People rarely ventured out to sea at this time and knew very little about the conditions in the ocean; facing a gigantic whale, calling it a midnight demon was also possible.

In her previous life, she hadn’t paid much attention to marine life, so she didn’t know how much Tang Feng knew.

”From what I know, whales are quite intelligent and typically don’t attack humans proactively. They can clearly distinguish their prey,” Tang Feng said.

”Let’s go have a look.” Bai Ruozhu walked toward the edge of the boat, Jiang Yichun followed nervously, then held her hand, fearing the boat’s rocking might make her accidentally fall.

The sea was pitch black, making it hard to see anything. However, under the moonlight, Bai Ruozhu saw a gigantic back, and then a thud as the back collided with the ship’s side.

Jiang Yichun hurriedly embraced Bai Ruozhu, and Bai Ruozhu also wrapped her arm around his waist.

”It’s been provoked,” Tang Feng said with a frown.

”Under normal circumstances, it shouldn’t be attacking our ship. Could something have gone wrong? Or is our understanding flawed?” Bai Ruozhu said worriedly, given that the era was different and the marine creatures here might differ from what they knew.

”I’ve figured it out!” Tang Feng suddenly exclaimed, pointing at the fish hanging on the outside of the ship, ”Throw all the fish down for it to eat. Once it has food, it won’t attack us!”

”Yes, that should be it.” Bai Ruozhu agreed, nodding.

Unfortunately, even though Tang Feng shouted again, the ship workers only knew how to attack the whale but wouldn’t heed Tang Feng’s advice.

”The boat is accustomed to catching fish along the way and hanging them on the hull’s edge. Maybe there are too many fish, or the smell of blood attracted the whale, so the people on board didn’t know its intent and kept attacking to defend themselves, thus further provoking the whale.” Tang Feng shook his head as he spoke.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and said, ”Jianqi, Qiu Zhi, go throw those fish into the sea, and Qiu Zhi, don’t hastily use spells.”

”Yes.”

The two quickly went to cut the ropes, allowing many fresh fish and some that had just been pickled to fall into the sea.

Zheng Xin finally noticed their actions and angrily came over to question, ”What are you doing? If the fish are gone, what will we eat?”

”The ocean is the last place lacking fish,” Tang Feng said unhappily.

”I’m the helmsman, anything on deck is commanded by me. Acting without my permission is against the rules!” Zheng Xin said angrily, but unfortunately, his neck itched, making his voice falter.

Just then, a sailor shouted from behind, ”Boss, the demon stopped ramming the ship!”

”It got the food it wanted, so naturally it won’t cling to us anymore. Throwing away those fish is worth more than wasting arrows and everyone’s effort on pointless conflicts,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

Zheng Xin’s face looked somewhat unpleasant. ”It’s too early to say. What if it’s insatiable and after eating the fish, it has more energy to ram the ship? Who will be responsible then?”

His words sounded quite aggressive.

Jiang Yichun exuded a murderous aura, ”I’ll be responsible!”

”You...” Zheng Xin was stumped, angrily glaring at Jiang Yichun.

”I’ve been responsible all the way, and now I order you to stop attacking,” Jiang Yichun added.

Many ship workers wanted to stop but feared offending Zheng Xin, so for a while, they didn’t know what to do.

Zheng Xin gritted his teeth, and hatred deepened in his eyes, ”Fine, I’ll let everyone stop attacking. If something goes wrong, you take full responsibility, or we’ll head back tomorrow!”

Jiang Yichun snorted coldly, ”Stop, didn’t you hear?”

The ship workers all looked at Zheng Xin, clearly Zhong Xin held more sway over them.

”Stop, everyone rest where you are,” Zheng Xin snorted coldly and said.

Tang Feng gratefully glanced at Jiang Yichun, thanking him for trusting him.

”As long as nothing provokes the whale, it’ll leave soon,” Tang Feng said quietly.

Bai Ruozhu nodded; she’d heard this theory before too.

They all quieted down, observing for a reaction from the sea. Not long after, the whale started swimming again, spouted water, and called out, then rammed the ship once more.

Tang Feng’s face turned very grim, ”How can it be...”

Not far away, Zheng Xin’s face showed a mocking expression, ”The midnight demon just wants to destroy the ship and kill people, will it really reason with you? What a joke!”

Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, looking at the bottom of the ship. She suddenly realized the whale had been ramming the same spot all along!

”That’s wrong, you stay here, I’ll be right back!” She said and dashed off toward the ship cabin below.

Jiang Yichun was worried and hurriedly chased after her.

Zheng Xin’s face changed, and he secretly signaled his subordinate, whose deputy also started heading toward the ship cabin.

Yuan Licheng showed disdain, casually throwing something out, triggering an array that made Zheng Xin’s subordinate circle aimlessly without entering the ship cabin.

”What’s going on?” he asked in shock.

Zheng Xin looked at Tang Feng, ”What do you mean?”

”No meaning, just solving the problem now.” Tang Feng said with a stern face.

In the ship cabin, Bai Ruozhu rapidly rushed below, only to find Teng Liu ahead of her. He waved upon seeing her, ”Sir, Madam, come quickly, someone below has been punished without permission, a lot of blood spilled.”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened; she knew why the whale kept ramming that spot—it was provoked by the smell of blood.

She and Jiang Yichun hurriedly caught up with Teng Liu; in a damp room at the lowest level of the ship cabin, they found an elderly man on the verge of death.

”I’ll stop the bleeding first, clean off these bloodstains quickly, some have already soaked through the ship’s exterior,” Bai Ruozhu said.

She didn’t guess the old man’s identity, seeing him covered in injuries, with the deepest wound on his leg—not fatal immediately, but the ongoing bleeding would eventually lead to his death.

The elder had already lost consciousness.

Bai Ruozhu swiftly applied acupuncture, while Teng Liu and Jiang Yichun dared not delay either.

Once Bai Ruozhu stopped the old man’s bleeding, she casually took out a bottle of drug powder, handed it to Jiang Yichun, and said, ”Achun, find a way to sprinkle this in the sea outside; it can neutralize the smell of blood, but the drug is scarce, use it sparingly, just target the small patch of sea under this room.”
