Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2302: Chapter 2301: Each to Their Own Taste

After leaving the Palace of Consort Le, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but let out a melancholy sigh, but she quickly returned to normal. Here in the deep palace, she had to be cautious everywhere, regardless of whether there were people around her or not, she couldn’t show any flaws.

Tian Fang and the others had already returned to the Female Physicians Institution in the capital. Although those young women couldn’t all gather together as before, they had all made considerable progress, which put Bai Ruozhu at ease.

Not long after, Jiang Yichun arrived at the Female Physicians Institution, smiled at Bai Ruozhu, and said, ”I’m here to take you home.”

Tian Fang and the others began to cheer, with several young women looking at them with a mix of envy and curiosity.

”After not seeing you for so long, Lord Jiang appears and throws dog food again.” Tian Fang said with a cheeky smile.

This term ’throwing dog food’ was introduced by Bai Ruozhu. They found it amusing and had all learned it.

”Isn’t it natural to be good to my wife?” Our Lord Jiang began to show off after being praised.

”Truly making others envious, let us go cry in a corner first.”

Several female physicians joked, while Bai Ruozhu waved to them, ”Then I’m leaving first. I should not be going to the palace recently. If you have any issues, come to the Bai Residence to find me.”

After leaving the Palace Gate and sitting in the horse carriage, Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened. Jiang Yichun, knowing her best, gently took her hand and asked, ”What happened over there at Consort Le’s place? Did something unpleasant happen?”

Bai Ruozhu opened her mouth but then said, ”Let’s talk about it when we get home.”

Once back home, Bai Ruozhu took Jiang Yichun into the Space and, with a stern face, said, ”I saw Prince Xi today. He is poisoned with a slow-acting poison.”

Jiang Yichun was startled, ”What kind of poison? Did you tell them on the spot?”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”There was a nurse beside him at the time, and there were guards outside the door. I didn’t dare to alert the enemy, fearing the other party might notice a flaw and decisively tighten the grip to take the life of Prince Xi. Such a young child, how could they bring themselves to do it!”

She was very angry. Prince Xi had already been through so much hardship, yet some still wouldn’t let him go.

Jiang Yichun narrowed his eyes, ”Because Ling Xue also gave birth to a prince?”

Bai Ruozhu shivered. When it came to political sensitivity, Achun surpassed her by far. If he thought of this, it was most likely correct.

”If my poison skills hadn’t improved, I might not have discovered such a slow-acting poison either. Moreover, the poison won’t show any symptoms in the short term. Even your father might not be able to notice it, which shows the brilliance of the poison maker. But this kind of poison requires a long time of small dosage, so there must be a mole around Consort Le. It’s just not known whether the person administering the poison is the one who concocted it.”

Bai Ruozhu sighed as she spoke, ”Do you know? This poison is colorless and odorless, extremely hard to detect. But after prolonged poisoning, the person gradually becomes mentally impaired. When used on a child, it will only make people think he was born an idiot.”

Hearing this, Jiang Yichun’s heart twisted uneasily, ”Can you still detoxify it now?”

”It’s very difficult to detoxify. But the biggest problem is that no matter how you detoxify him, as long as he is poisoned again, the situation will suddenly worsen. If the root problem isn’t resolved, detoxification is basically harming him.”

Bai Ruozhu found a chair to sit down on and sighed again, ”If this poison isn’t solved eventually, even if the person is detoxified, their intelligence has already been affected, making it difficult to have the same mental capacity as normal people. Previously, Consort Le said Prince Xi was able to eat and sleep well, supposedly a child with good fortune. But this ability to eat and sleep is a mid-stage symptom of poisoning. Now I’m not even sure if Prince Xi can return to normal.”

For a long time, Jiang Yichun didn’t say a word, which was equivalent to saying that the poor Prince Xi had already become an idiot. Even if he wasn’t severely mentally impaired, his intellect in the future would still not be on par with others, so how could he inherit the throne?

Bai Ruozhu saw through his thoughts and shook her head at him, ”I think Consort Le doesn’t actually want him to become the emperor. As long as he can grow up safely and live a simple and happy life, that’s enough.”

Jiang Yichun’s brows furrowed tightly. After a long time, he finally said, ”Keep this matter confidential for now, and I’ll go privately to speak with the emperor.”

”Avoid the Virtuous King’s people. If Prince Xi becomes mentally impaired and if the emperor encounters any unexpected events, only Ling Xue’s child could ascend the throne.” Bai Ruozhu narrowed her eyes, ”I heard that child is being raised by the Virtuous Queen, and Ling Xue isn’t dead either.”

”I will speak with the emperor.” Jiang Yichun said with a somber expression.

Bai Ruozhu took him out of the Space, ”If you go to see the emperor at night suddenly, it might alert the enemy.”

Jiang Yichun nodded, but he couldn’t calm his heart.

Just then, Jianqi suddenly arrived and said, ”Master, this afternoon Lao Wan went to the nunnery wanting to become a nun. There’s been quite a stir in the capital.”

Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow. Was this Du Zhongshu’s backup plan or Lao Wan’s revenge?

”What exactly is being said?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”They say she is just an ornament in the Du Wang Residence. Born with a bitter fate, being sent around like an object, and since Duke Du cannot accommodate others in his heart, she might as well shave her head and become a nun.” Jianqi said with a straight face, secretly glancing at Jiang Yichun, fearing he might be angered by these words.

”This is playing the sympathy card, wanting people to pity her situation, blaming me for sending her out as a gift? Also, trying to show Du Zhongshu’s infatuation and continue to smear my reputation?” Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”Isn’t it tedious to keep stirring up this kind of fuss?”

”The abbess at the nunnery didn’t dare take her in, so Lao Wan intended to crash into the halls and die. Consequently, it’s become known to both the Du Residence and the Lao Family, many people went to watch the spectacle, and the matron of the Lao Family also went.” Jianqi continued.

Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow, ”So this means it’s not over yet.”

”It seems it will be stirred up for a while. I suspect Du Zhongshu will also appear.” Jianqi said.

Bai Ruozhu narrowed her eyes, ”After several rounds of hidden confrontation, it’s time to show up and have a good showdown once. Prepare the horse; I’m going to watch the excitement!”

Jiang Yichun was about to speak, but Bai Ruozhu looked at him and said, ”You go to the palace to see the emperor and say you want to impeach the Du Wang Residence. He is lax in controlling his womenfolk, allowing them to seek death as nuns and even slandering a third-rank titled lady.”

”Alright, I’ll go now. Be careful.” Jiang Yichun understood that Bai Ruozhu had given him an excuse to enter the palace, nodded slightly to her, and added, ”If they need a beating, don’t hesitate to take action. If anything happens, I’ll back you up.”

”Okay, I understand.” Bai Ruozhu smiled with curved eyes, feeling grateful to have someone to rely on.

Bai Ruozhu went to rally Fo Lanying and Yizi, and Fo Lanying immediately became excited upon hearing the news.

”Ruozhu, whatever you need to do later, just tell me.”

Yuan Licheng sneakily laughed on the side, wondering if he was going to marry a bandit girl. But he liked it!

Jianqi, seeing Yuan Licheng’s expression, was quite baffed in his heart. Well, to each their own.
