Chapter 2349: Chapter 2348: Midnight Demon

Zheng Xin was almost in tears as he listened. ”How should I know? It started suddenly yesterday morning. I thought some ointment would fix it. What should I do now?”

Bai Ruozhu feigned sympathy and said, ”Don’t worry, I’ll give you some medicine first, but I’m not familiar with sea creatures, so I’m not sure how much it’ll help.”

”Alright, alright, thank you, Master Bai,” Zheng Xin said politely.

Bai Ruozhu quickly wrote down the formulas but wasn’t kind enough to provide Zheng Xin with prepared pills, suggesting he go to the storeroom and grab the medicinal materials to slowly make a decoction.

”There are a few medicines I’ve never heard of, Master Bai. Do you have some in stock? Could you give me a little?” Zheng Xin asked sheepishly.

Beside him, Fo Lanying almost couldn’t help but ask how much he planned to pay for the seasickness medicine from Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu shot her a look to stop her from speaking.

”We brought quite a bit of medicinal materials, but they haven’t been sorted yet. If you look for them now, it might take a day or two to find them all. I’m just worried about the helmsman’s situation being urgent,” Bai Ruozhu appeared troubled.

”In that case, never mind, I’ll think of another way.” Zheng Xin said, scratching himself again, leaving more bloody marks on his neck.

After he left, Fo Lanying quietly spat and muttered, ”What a piece of work, wanting treatment without paying a penny, and even expecting to get the medicine for free, too. How shameless!”

Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”He probably thinks everyone should cater to him, and he should get what he needs immediately.”

”Shameless!” Yizi muttered, somewhat naive, and could only curse like this.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ”Alright, let’s go back to our room. The weather’s bad today, be careful not to get too much sea breeze and catch a cold.”

Yizi and the others, worried about the wind causing rough skin, quickly followed into the ship cabin.

Inside, Teng Ya was doing some crochet work, which Bai Ruozhu had taught her and her mother, not that they needed to produce anything—just so they could learn a skill for when they leave the ship and need to find work.

Teng Ya was quick-witted, learning faster than her mother. The little girl was diligent, couldn’t sit idle, and practiced crochet work whenever she could, already crafting several hats.

”Teng Ya, take a break, let your sister Yizi teach you how to make shoes later,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile to Teng Ya.

Teng Ya’s eyes lit up, ”Like the embroidered shoes you wear?”

”Yes, Yizi is great at making them, learn well from her, and you’ll make beautiful shoes in the future,” Bai Ruozhu, who couldn’t make embroidered shoes herself, had arranged with Yizi beforehand.

Yizi took Teng Ya’s hand and said, ”I’ve cut the shoe pattern. Come look with me later.”

Bai Ruozhu saw Teng Ya eager to try and smiled, ”Why don’t we go now?”

”Great!” Yizi stepped out of the room first, with Teng Ya quickly following.

At night, the sea became stormy, and the ship rocked with the waves. Jiang Yichun, sleeping on the outside of the bed, fell with a thud.

Bai Ruozhu sat up in a jolt, ”What happened?”

Realizing no one was on the bed, she hurried to get up, but as the ship tilted, she lost her balance and slipped off the bed, landing on Jiang Yichun on the floor.

Jiang Yichun groaned, ”I was fine until you landed on me; you might give me internal injuries.”

Bai Ruozhu was startled, but she didn’t hurt herself. Gently, she punched him and said, ”How could I be heavy enough to squash you flat?”

”You’re not heavy, but you’ve got enough on your front to crush me,” Jiang Yichun chuckled softly.

”If anyone’s going to be squashed, it’s me. What are you pretending for?” she replied, regretting why the topic revolved around her certain areas.

Suddenly, Jiang Yichun flipped her over beneath him, ”I don’t believe it; let me see if it’s really flat.”

As he spoke, he reached and began to knead her, Bai Ruozhu’s face flushed as she complained, ”Stop fooling around! There’s a storm; we might be needed outside.”

Jiang Yichun ignored her, mischievously saying, ”This storm won’t disturb us; even if we went out, we couldn’t help.”

Before Bai Ruozhu could say more, he sealed her lips with his own, kissing her deeply.

They called each other’s names passionately, leaving distinct marks on each other’s skin, embracing deeply from their souls...

”Want to soak in the hot spring?”

”Okay.” Bai Ruozhu nodded wearily and, with a thought, the two entered the space.

Soaking in the hot spring pool, Bai Ruozhu finally felt relieved, her fatigue mostly gone.

”Keep it up, and I’ll make you sleep on the deck!” Bai Ruozhu complained.

”How am I fooling around? I don’t know who just was so cooperative. Women really are fickle,” Jiang Yichun grinned mischievously.

Bai Ruozhu gave him a punch, splashing water droplets that landed on his collarbone, sliding down his chest muscles—the sight was too enticing.

She instinctively swallowed, finding it challenging to resist with a man like this around.

Jiang Yichun heard her gulping, smirking as he did.

He wanted to tease her further, when there were shouts from the ”big screen” side.

”Quick, grab the harpoons, Night Demons are here!”

”Hurry, everyone get up! Don’t want to end up in the Demons’ stomach? Get energized!”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances, halting their antics, hurried out of the hot spring pool to change into clean clothes and left the space.

”Master, are you awake? Something happened above,” Jianqi’s voice came from outside the door.

”Awake, where is everyone else?” Bai Ruozhu responded, glaring at Jiang Yichun. If it weren’t for his antics, they wouldn’t have been stuck in the room, and who knows what outsiders would think.

Jiang Yichun’s lip twitched; he had no idea Night Demons would come.

They left the room, Jianqi said, ”I asked them to go to the deck first, instructing them not to separate.”

”Alright, let’s check it out,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Know what the Midnight Demon is?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”Not yet, the sea’s too dark. I only saw a pitch-black area; what they describe as Demon seems huge,” Jianqi said.

While speaking, the three reached the deck, others hurried to them, Qiu Zhi anxiously asked, ”Master, should I step in to help?”
