Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2340: Chapter 2339: Advance Precautions

Bai Ruozhu suddenly felt a pang in her nose, and tears almost fell. Tang Feng was like a brother to her, and seeing her brother end up in such isolation, how could she not feel heartache?

She turned her head away, not daring to let Tang Feng see her unusual behavior, for fear that he might feel awkward.

”Are you still reluctant to part with a few meals?” Tang Feng joked.

Bai Ruozhu quickly held back her tears, laughed, and said, ”Yes, so you have to pay for the meals.”

She smiled and reached out her hand.

”Money freak!” Tang Feng didn’t hand over any money; he just swaggered over to sit and drink tea, as casually as if he were at home.

”Tang Feng, was that thing your doing?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly asked.

Tang Feng glanced at her, ”Why do you ask?”

Bai Ruozhu glanced at him mockingly, ”Firstly, it couldn’t have been the Emperor, and secondly, I suspected it was Ma Feicui’s revenge. I sent someone to investigate, only to find that the Ma Family was also investigating the matter. So I knew it wasn’t the Ma Family who leaked the information.”

Tang Feng laughed, ”Can you guess that Ma Feicui’s ulterior motive was never about the liquor?”

Bai Ruozhu was stunned, then suddenly recalled the look in Ma Feicui’s eyes when she saw Jiang Yichun. Her face darkened.

”But you don’t have to...” Bai Ruozhu felt a pang of heartache. Did they implicate Tang Feng?

”What’s the big deal, we modern people don’t care about such trivial matters, do we?” Tang Feng said nonchalantly, but Bai Ruozhu still saw the pain in his eyes.

”Besides, it solves the problem once and for all; I don’t like being used.” Tang Feng said.

”But...” Bai Ruozhu opened her mouth, wanting to say, what will you do in the future? You can’t be alone forever, right?

But she couldn’t say it out, instead thinking of ways to help Tang Feng heal.

The Shipping Department hadn’t yet readied the ship, when news from the Capital arrived saying that Ma Feicui unexpectedly declared publicly that she didn’t care about any rumors, what she valued was Tang Feng’s talent and character.

”Damn it, the Ma Family is so shameless!” Tang Feng, upon hearing the news, was so angry he nearly smashed a teacup. He remembered he was at the Bai Residence, not his own home, and slowly put the cup back down.

Bai Ruozhu pouted, ”She’s deeply infatuated with you. At least that’s what the gossip is around town now.”

Tang Feng gave her a fierce look, ”Supposedly infatuated with your family’s man, and you still have the nerve to be amused?”

”She can desire but never obtain him, so what am I afraid of? If he can be easily taken away, then such a man isn’t worth wanting.” Bai Ruozhu said casually.

Jiang Yichun glared at her intensely, ”You give up on me that easily? I find myself having less and less status in your heart.”

Bai Ruozhu giggled, ”Who told you to always be a flirt?”

This time it was Jiang Yichun who was speechless, he scratched his nose and said, ”It’s none of my business, I didn’t even talk to her.”

Tang Feng heavily sighed, ”Enough, can you not flirt so openly, consider the feelings of the single dogs?”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun chuckled and didn’t speak anymore.

Tang Feng stood up and said, ”I’ll go to the Palace, and finalize the sea voyage early; let them cause trouble as much as they want, I’ll just leave.”

”Alright, I’ll hurry the Shipping Department some.” Jiang Yichun said.

By the next day, the rumor of Ma Feicui being deeply infatuated had spread throughout the Capital. Someone even said: ’Marry a Ma Family daughter, and one would gladly spend all their family wealth.’

The following afternoon, someone went to the Government Office to beat the drum and filed a grievance, accusing Ma Feicui of abducting a commoner man, causing the man’s family to break apart, and even having someone ruin the face of the man’s beautiful wife.

The matter caused an uproar immediately. Ma Feicui’s infamous reputation was known in Xunyang City, not many knew in the Capital, but who among the common people would dare to beat the drum and file grievances over nothing?

Public rumors in the Capital split into two factions. Some said it was false accusations, claiming if Ma Feicui was of such a nature, why would she not care that the Champion could not ’perform’? Others said it was because the Ma Family girl had a sullied reputation and wanted someone who couldn’t ’perform’ to cover it up, so the Champion wouldn’t interfere with her misdeeds in the future.

Ma Feicui was shocked upon hearing this in the Ma Family, ”How could someone from Xunyang City come to the Capital to file complaints, it must be Bai Ruozhu doing this!”

Ma Tongfang was also suspicious, ”Why does this keep involving Bai Ruozhu, why do you think she did it?”

Ma Feicui composed herself and quickly said, ”That woman is extremely possessive. Tang Feng is close to her, even though she has a husband, she wants to maintain an ambiguous relationship with Tang Feng, so she doesn’t want me to marry him, and...”

”What?” Ma Tongfang thought for a moment, surely such women exist.

”Bai Ruozhu on the surface seems unbothered about what happened with Linglong, last time I saw her she hinted at it in her words, I feel she’s targeting our Ma Family. The incident involving Tang Feng was leaked, the Emperor suspected us, and now someone is ruining my reputation, if it’s not targeted at our Ma Family, then what is it?”

Ma Tongfang thought deeply and felt his niece’s words made sense, he was already somewhat guarded against Jiang Yichun.

”Don’t worry about this, Uncle will handle it for you.” Ma Tongfang said.

Ma Feicui quickly bowed, ”Thank you, Uncle. We also can’t let Bai Ruozhu off the hook, let the whole world know her shameless ambition!”

Ma Tongfang sneered, ”She was already unclear with Du Zhongshu, and now there’s Tang Feng too, let the world see if she has any virtue as a wife!”

After Ma Tongfang left, Ma Feicui sneered in the shadows, ”Bai Ruozhu, let’s see how long you can stay arrogant this time.”

...

Over on Bai Ruozhu’s side, she had already known that the person who beat the drum and filed grievances was someone Tang Feng had pre-arranged, which made her admire Tang Feng a bit more.

”Had you told us earlier that you were prepared, we wouldn’t have needed to worry.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”If they hadn’t pushed me, I wouldn’t want to fight them to the death yet; who told them not to relent.” Tang Feng impatiently furrowed his brows, ”I’m just worried they’ll manufacture bad public opinion later.”

Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, ”I have an idea.”

After saying that she immediately left, leaving Tang Feng dumbfounded, not knowing what she was going to do.

Bai Ruozhu rode straight to the Medical Alliance, and said to the manager there, ”Release an announcement saying Tang Feng is my sworn brother, and if anyone speaks ill of him, they need not seek treatment at the Medical Alliance. Also tell the Medical Alliance members in the Capital not to treat such people.”

The manager hurriedly asked, ”How will we discern who has spoken ill of Champion Tang during free treatment?”

Bai Ruozhu glared at him and said, ”Why think so much, right now I want to declare my stance, to support Champion Tang.”

The manager quickly said, ”Alright, alright, I’ll handle it right away.”
