Chapter 2339: Chapter 2338: Once and for All

”I’ve already arranged for someone to investigate, but with the rumors spreading so wildly, I’m afraid we won’t find anything,” Ma Tongfang sighed and said.

Ma Feicui suddenly showed excitement, ”I know, it’s Bai Ruozhu, it must be Bai Ruozhu!”

Ma Tongfang raised an eyebrow, ”What’s this got to do with Bai Ruozhu? Even if she had a rift with Linglong, it doesn’t mean she’d drag Tang Feng into it. What if she angers the emperor? Even if she’s foolish, Jiang Yichun isn’t!”

Mentioning Jiang Yichun made Ma Feicui’s heart tremble, the man she couldn’t forget even after one glance, whose face haunted her dreams every night.

How can one have such a captivating face? It would have been fine, but she happened to see that cold face blossom into a smile at Bai Ruozhu, that fleeting smile almost took her soul.

It must be that cunning Bai Ruozhu realized her intentions; she’d rather have Tang Feng mocked by the world than let Ma Feicui marry Tang Feng, giving herself the chance to be close to Jiang Yichun.

Driven by desire, Ma Feicui was not thinking clearly. If Bai Ruozhu was guarding against her, wouldn’t it be simpler to just stop associating with Tang Feng? Why make such a complicated move?

”What are you thinking? You’re not hiding something from me, are you? You have always been smarter than Linglong and the others, don’t keep anything from uncle,” Ma Tongfang’s voice carried a bit of severity.

Ma Feicui snapped back to reality and hurriedly said, ”No, I’ve come to the Capital City on my own, I have to rely on Uncle for decisions, how could I dare hide anything from you?”

When he saw her say this, Ma Tongfang didn’t suspect much and instructed her not to go out for now, then left.

After Ma Tongfang left, a fierce expression flickered in Ma Feicui’s eyes as she murmured, ”Bai Ruozhu, I will have that man!”

Her maid happened to enter with tea, startled by her intensity, almost dropped the tray, spilling quite a bit of the tea.

The maid mistakenly thought ”that man” referred to Tang Feng, thinking the Miss had changed, displaying such persistence over a man.

Ma Feicui glanced sideways at the maid, then at the tray in her hand, and said flatly, ”Can’t even carry tea steadily, wasted all those lessons, go out, kneel there till you can carry it properly.”

Terrified, the maid’s face turned pale, she hurriedly went outside to kneel, holding the tray steadily above her head.

Her sleeve slipped down, revealing several bruises, some new, red and purple from pinching, while others were old, greenish-yellow patches, probably marks from being struck with a rattan stick or branches.

The guards in the yard glanced at the maid, feeling a bit sympathetic, but knowing the Ma family masters’ hearts were cruel. Even if Ma Tongfang found out, he’d only think his niece wasn’t soft-hearted and wouldn’t punish her.

...

In Feixian Pavilion, Moon Lady looked at Tang Feng with some concern, softly asking, ”Master, why put yourself through this? It’s, it’s too much to bear!”

Tang Feng downed his wine in one gulp, yet there was a smile on his face, he seemed in a good mood.

”Once and for all.”

”But, but you really...” Moon Lady struggled to speak, though she was deeply admiring Tang Feng, Tang Feng never had touched her.

Tang Feng smiled at her, ”Moon Lady, I understand your intentions, after some time I’ll redeem you, you should return home and find a good, honest person to spend your life.”

Moon Lady’s face instantly turned pale, she knelt down with a thud, voice trembling, ”Did I do something wrong? Does Master want to get rid of me?”

”No, you’re a good girl, you shouldn’t stay in such a place, I don’t need to look into the Capital City situation anymore, I won’t serve in the court either, naturally I will find you a good place to go.” Tang Feng said, reaching out to help her.

”Master!” Moon Lady stood up and fell into Tang Feng’s arms, this embrace she had dreamed of countless times, she had thought of taking such actions more than once, but always hesitated due to fear, today she disregarded everything.

Even if she could only embrace him once, she was content.

Seeing Moon Lady’s tear-stained face, Tang Feng sighed and said, ”Moon Lady, I have no romantic feelings for you, moreover I’ve already made up my mind, in the future there will be no turning back, whoever is with me will suffer, listen well, don’t harbor any hopes towards me.”

Though at Feixian Pavilion, Moon Lady was a musician for guests, she was a clean girl only playing the qin, usually just saw other girls being bold. Even now, though she had thrown herself into Tang Feng’s embrace, she didn’t know what to do next, blushing deeply all the way to her neck.

”It’s alright if you don’t like me, just let me stay by your side to take care of you, if being a maid is okay too.” Moon Lady pleaded pitifully.

Tang Feng sighed again, unable to bear pushing her away.

”I have hands and feet, I really don’t need anyone to take care of me.”

Moon Lady’s face turned a few shades paler upon hearing this, ”I don’t want to marry some honest person, if Master doesn’t want me, I’ll stay at Feixian Pavilion for a lifetime.”

”Nonsense, your purity can’t remain intact over time!” Tang Feng said with some anger.

Moon Lady’s face was ashen, ”Without being with the one I love, purity means little to me.”

Tang Feng saw her like this and felt even more compassionate, pulled her to sit down, softened his tone and said, ”I’m heading out to sea, at least for a year, at most three to five years before I return, I can’t protect you then, making you leave here is wishing for you to have a normal life.”

”I’ll leave here as you say, but I’ll wait for Master, as long as you promise to come back for me, I am willing to serve you even as a servant.” Moon Lady held Tang Feng’s hand and cried.

Tang Feng finally nodded, ”I’ll arrange a way out for you, take good care of yourself.”

”I’ll wait for your return, we’ve made a promise.” Moon Lady looked up at Tang Feng expectantly.

”Alright, it’s a deal.”

After Tang Feng left, Moon Lady wiped her teary face clean, revealing a sweet smile typical of young girls, murmuring to herself, ”I don’t care what you become, I just want to stay with you, even if we can’t be a couple, even if just a maid by your side...”

...

Rumors were wildly spreading in the Capital City, fearing Tang Feng was upset, Bai Ruozhu invited him to her home for dinner. As a result, Tang Feng after dinner simply stayed, saying he was heading out to sea with them anyway, so he stayed at Bai Residence to avoid being left behind.

Bai Ruozhu found it amusing, ”Why would we leave you behind? We’ve agreed to go together.”

Tang Feng touched his nose, ”Actually, it’s just that the food at your place is delicious, and it’s lively with more people, dining alone is a bit lonely.”
