Chapter 2313: Chapter 2312: A General Dies in Battle After a Hundred Fights

Seeing Luo Family crying so heartbreakingly, Bai Ruozhu felt a tightness in her heart. Could it be that Fang Qing was killed by Ma Tongfang?

No, she saw Fang Qing more than twenty years later, so he should still be alive, but the Luo Family must think he’s dead.

Ma Tongfang showed a sinister smile on his face, ”Those who achieve great things don’t bother about trifles. Since you are a descendant of the Ma Family, you should contribute to the Ma Family. Isn’t he just a man? How could he compare to the Yueqiu Clan Chief? Don’t you know how to cherish?”

”I must be blind, what kind of family, you are simply an Evil Demon!” Luo Family shouted in pain, ”I curse you to die a miserable death, a miserable death!”

Ma Tongfang didn’t get angry either; he smiled and said, ”Handing you over to the Yueqiu Tribe in exchange for victory in this war, I can also get promoted and nobly ranked, just consider it as doing something for your brother.”

Bai Ruozhu ground her teeth in anger, so this is how Ma Tongfang relied on selling out his family to earn military merits and later developed into the formidable General of the South! But a person with such a malicious and despicable mind, haven’t used other dirty tricks over the years?

She had previously interacted with Ma Tongfang a few times, his niece Ma Linglong treacherously plotted against her, and she only thought it was Ma Linglong’s personal issue, never considering that Ma Tongfang was an even more insidious villain.

She had really thought of people too simply!

”The Chief wants this person, what to do?” Someone from the Yueqiu Cavalry asked.

The burly men on both ends snorted coldly, ”Trying to use this to make us surrender, there’s no way, I don’t care who the Chief wants, everyone charge out and kill as many as possible, if we can capture the person back, that’s even better, if not, blame it on Ma Tongfang!”

”Alright, Boss, you’re straightforward, unlike the overly sentimental Chief.” A cavalryman said.

”Charge, kill for the Boss!” The leading strong man rushed out first, shouting loudly.

The horses galloped swiftly, charging straight towards Ma Tongfang. The other Iron Cavalry followed, and in an instant, yellow sand rose all around, followed by the swinging of spears and swords, heads being chopped off and flying in the air.

The speed of these cavalrymen was too fast; the archers didn’t even have time to aim before they were upon them, their heads harvested, and the infantry swung their swords only to leave a white mark on the horse’s armor, unable to harm these Iron Cavalry!

Seeing Ma Tongfang in a disadvantageous position, Bai Ruozhu was surprised to find that there was no panic in Ma Tongfang’s eyes.

At this moment, he suddenly waved his arm and shouted, ”Form the array!”

Iron chains were pulled up one by one, immediately blocking the cavalry, even tripping a horse; but the warhorse reacted quickly, getting back up, and the cavalryman on its back mounted the horse again.

Indeed, the Yueqiu Cavalry was extraordinary.

But even so, because of the iron chain blockade, the cavalry couldn’t capitalize on their speed advantage, and a group of infantry rushed over, surrounding them tightly.

”Damn it!” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but curse. It wasn’t that she worried for the Yueqiu people, but she finally understood why there was no panic in Ma Tongfang’s eyes earlier.

Because he had already prepared an Iron Chain Array to block the Yueqiu cavalry, and for better effect, he even disregarded the casualties of his archers and infantry, or rather, used them as bait to lure the cavalry into it, to catch them in an urn!

Looking at the bodies strewn across the ground, Bai Ruozhu’s eyes reddened. She knew tactics must be used on the battlefield, and sacrifices would be made, but she couldn’t accept using her own people as bait, watching them die in vain!

If a war victory is obtained in this way, she could never agree to it!

The faces of the soldiers who had just died showed fear and despair, with no fatalistic resolution of knowing they were bait, indicating they didn’t even know they were being sacrificed!

All of a sudden, a murderous intent rose in Bai Ruozhu’s heart; she itched to kill Ma Tongfang directly.

But at this moment, the Yueqiu cavalry was like being stuck in a quagmire, quickly falling into a disadvantage.

The leading strong man suddenly roared, spear thrusting into the iron chain, twisting with great force, his horse exerting itself alongside its master, but the chains were held by so many, intertwined one by one, the horse struggled and neighed loudly.

At this time, many holding the chains were cried out as they got thrown out; the cavalry leader indeed had tremendous strength!

”You guys retreat first! Don’t worry about me!” The leading strong man shouted.

”Boss, you go first!” Someone yelled worriedly.

”Damn it, doesn’t my word count? Get back for me!” The cavalry leader swore, shouting at his subordinates.

The others dared not disobey and hurriedly broke through the encirclement.

Ma Tongfang showed a sarcastic look, laughing lowly, ”Foolish, today you shall be buried here.”

He reached out and took out a bow and arrow, drawing it into a full moon, shooting at the cavalry leader who was exposed while holding the iron chain.

With a whoosh, the arrow flew swiftly, directly piercing into one of the cavalry leader’s eyes.

He screamed in pain, his body swaying almost off the horse, but his ferocity was also revealed, both hands gripping the iron chains fiercely, knocking those pulling them to the ground.

”Boss!” Someone cried out, wanting to turn back on horseback, but the cavalry leader shouted, ”Get back for me, this is my last command to you, listen to me!”

All the cavalrymen were stunned, they were tough men, yet their eyes brimmed with tears.

”Go!” With another yell, everyone’s body shook, showing a determined look, whipping their horses, rushing through the City Gate. But Bai Ruozhu could clearly see their tear-stained faces, their eyes full of anger and pain.

”Hold on, we must avenge the boss!” A cavalryman shouted.

Others cried, at this time, there was a loud noise from behind, someone fell heavily. They quickly turned back, seeing the leader and his warhorse falling to the ground, pierced by blades all over. The arrow in the leader’s eye had been pulled out sometime, revealing a bloody hole; his face was covered in blood as if he was a Xiuluo from hell.

He spat out a mouthful of blood, enduring the pain from his wounds, crawling with great effort towards his warhorse. Finally, his hand reached the horse’s head, he painstakingly patted the horse’s forehead, his mouth moved, but no words came out.

From the City Wall, Bai Ruozhu watched his lips, and a phrase emerged in her mind: Old friend, sorry to trouble you.

For a moment, Bai Ruozhu’s face was full of tears. How could there be such a difference between generals?

Ma Tongfang used his own people as bait, scheming against his family for military merits, sacrificing his soldiers, while the Yueqiu chief seemed rough and uncouth, yet he bore the risk for his subordinates, preferring to sacrifice himself to protect his men.

Is this the difference between people?
