Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2310: Chapter 2309: Meadow and Mountain Flowers

Tang Feng saw that the place was already understood, so he dismissed Gao De, who was still a bit awkward and said, ”Sir, don’t mind them, Fang Qing and his wife have no children and are a bit eccentric, but they’re pitiful people.”

”We are here to seek relatives, not to make enemies, so don’t worry.” Tang Feng said with a smile.

”Alright, then I’ll take my leave.” Gao De bowed and left.

Bai Ruozhu gave Jianqi a look, signaling him to keep an eye on the Fang couple secretly, then went to a nearby restaurant with Tang Feng and the others for a meal.

”Why don’t you just capture them first? Who knows how long we’ll have to wait otherwise.” As soon as they sat down, Tang Feng disagreed with the plan.

Jiang Yichun shook his head, ”It’s said that Merfolk are inherently strong, even a child among them is as good as an expert here. If we provoke them, and they flee desperately, it could be difficult to trace their whereabouts again.”

”Or maybe you could try revealing your identity and have a good talk with that Luo?” Tang Feng continued to suggest.

”No way!” Bai Ruozhu quickly opposed, ”We haven’t figured out the situation yet, Yichun’s identity cannot be revealed to outsiders.”

Tang Feng had to give up and proceeded to order wine and dishes for everyone as a gesture of welcome.

After the meal, Bai Ruozhu and his team stayed at an inn, Qiu Zhi hesitated and found Bai Ruozhu, asking, ”Master, since Merfolk are considered demons, if you uncover the truth, can I capture them?”

Bai Ruozhu rolled his eyes at him, ”Who told you Merfolk are demons? Has the Dragon Tiger Gate caught any Merfolk before? Merfolk, merfolk, they’re still people!”

Qiu Zhi was left speechless, stammering for a long time, he couldn’t remember when the Dragon Tiger Gate had ever captured a Merfolk, so perhaps Merfolk really aren’t demons? Otherwise, why didn’t their ancestors catch them?

The little Daoist was thus tricked by Bai Ruozhu, who laughed secretly to himself, Merfolk are indeed hard to find, and who knows if the Dragon Tiger Gate people could even encounter them, let alone defeat them.

”I remember reading that Merfolk tears can turn into pearls, I wonder if that’s true?” Qiu Zhi curiously asked again.

”Once you find a real Merfolk, you can ask her personally.” Bai Ruozhu replied.

Qiu Zhi nodded, ”Okay, if it’s true, I’ll exchange a pearl with her, and later I can show it to my master and the others.”

”Sure.” Bai Ruozhu saw that he wasn’t asking more, and with Jiang Yichun having a potential outburst, quickly sent Qiu Zhi away.

Once the person left, Jiang Yichun finally spoke, ”Did you notice too, Fang Qing disguised himself, making himself look a bit older, while Luo didn’t look well but wasn’t that old. If calculating from when Luo was almost imprisoned by the previous Yueqiu Clan leader, she is already over thirty. Even if the curse didn’t affect her, she shouldn’t not age, right?”

”Perhaps the beauty of Merfolk allows them to stay youthful forever at thirty?” Bai Ruozhu pondered, ”But what about Fang Qing? Isn’t he supposed to be an ordinary person? How could he not age too?”

Jiang Yichun’s eyes widened suddenly, ”Could they both be Merfolk?”

Bai Ruozhu also got excited. If both were Merfolk and over thirty, then they must have a way to help Yichun!

”Yizi, you also go with Jianqi to keep watch. If anything happens, send someone back to report.” Bai Ruozhu noticed Yizi’s frequent daydreaming and knew she was thinking about Jianqi, so simply sent her over. Besides, Yizi’s array skills were good, hiding herself shouldn’t be a problem.

Yizi happily went over not long before reaching the area where Jianqi was hiding, but she couldn’t find any trace of Jianqi after searching for a long time.

Even if Jianqi hid well, he wouldn’t not notice her arrival, right? Yizi was getting a bit nervous; could something have happened to Jianqi?

No way, her martial arts were not good; she could only set up an array, so she better quickly report back to the master.

As she turned to leave, the surroundings suddenly changed with every step she took, the stone-paved road turned into grassland, and the low houses on both sides became lush shrubs and flowers.

Yizi covered her mouth in terror, what is happening?

If Yizi couldn’t see something was wrong now, she’d truly be a fool. But even though she perceived something odd and tried to retreat, what was behind her had also turned into grassland and vibrant mountain flowers.

What is going on? Is it an illusory realm? Or has she been drawn into some kind of array that causes illusions, a Bewildering Array?

Yizi closed her eyes, silently counting to ten, then suddenly opened them. The result wasn’t what she expected; everything around her turning into a bubble, allowing real scenes to reappear; she was still in the meadow with mountain flowers. Beautiful as it was, she found it unnervingly creepy because this place was never meant to be grassland.

What should she do? Yizi took a step forward but didn’t dare move much; if it was an array, any action might trigger a Killing Array, putting her in danger. But standing still wouldn’t solve anything.

Yizi was somewhat scared, her body began to tremble slightly.

She knew such cowardice was undesirable, she should stand fearlessly, but fear, like a tide, slowly eroded her heart.

No, if she was trapped in such an illusion, what would happen to Jianqi?

The reason Jianqi hadn’t shown up earlier, could it be because something happened to him, trapping him here too?

Yizi’s eyes widened with determination; she could fear and be scared, but she would never allow Jianqi to be endangered!

Thus, the power of love being great, Yizi instantly regained her spirits as all the fear slipped away, replaced by determination on her face.

She stood and took three deep breaths, then focused her mind, starting to observe her surroundings.

After about a quarter of an hour, she suddenly began to move, ”Left seven,” she murmured quietly, then walked seven steps to the left.

”Forward nine,” she walked forward nine steps, appearing to follow no particular pattern, yet incorporating changes of the Five Elements.

After one round, nothing changed around her, but Yizi didn’t encounter any danger either, she breathed a huge sigh of relief; now she knew what to do.

...

As night slowly fell, Bai Ruozhu and the others had dinner at the inn. Qiu Zhi asked, ”Master, do you want me to call them back for dinner? The two of them can’t just not eat.”

Bai Ruozhu reckoned that Qiu Zhi was inexperienced and somewhat reckless; sending him might expose their whereabouts.

”You sit and eat first, we’ll discuss later. Jianqi is prudent, even if he can’t return, he would have Yizi come back to eat first.”

”Oh.” Qiu Zhi responded, and continued eating.

Suddenly, he felt useless, no wonder Jiang Yichun was reluctant to bring him along before.
