Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1483: Chapter 1584: Sudden Change_1

Bai Ruozhu said with a light smile, ”For a woman, if her body is well-regulated, her complexion will improve, and with a good complexion, she can become beautiful. It’s like the clients who frequently visit my Beauty Pavilion. If they only take care of their skin superficially and their health is poor inside, they will still have a sallow complexion and won’t achieve a fair and radiant appearance.”

Toward the end of her speech, she deliberately hinted, ”After all, when others look at a woman, they first notice her face.”

Lady Lü lowered her head. Although Western mirrors were rare at the time, some concubines of status in the Palace still had them, differing only in size. The Western mirror gave a clear reflection, so Lady Lü had already seen the difference between herself and the beautiful Madame Xu before.

To be honest, Madame Xu’s natural beauty was not as good as hers, nor were her facial features as delicate, but the reflection in the mirror showed her own sickly appearance, her sallow complexion, and her overly stiff face from applying too much powder. It was nothing like Madame Xu’s skin, which seemed so delicate it could be broken by a mere puff, it was so enviable that she wanted to pinch it.

”Does Doctor Bai think my body can be well-regulated?” Lady Lü, having previously driven Bai Ruozhu away, now found herself feeling embarrassed to ask such a question and deliberately avoided her gaze, not wanting to meet Bai Ruozhu’s eyes.

Bai Ruozhu knew of her embarrassment and said with a smile, ”It is my honor that Your Highness trusts me. I will certainly find a way to regulate Your Highness’s body, cure your stomach ailment, and help you become even more beautiful.”

She intentionally flattered Lady Lü, and sure enough, it pleased her. Lady Lü’s expression softened considerably, and her gaze toward Bai Ruozhu grew much warmer.

Bai Ruozhu began to take Lady Lü’s pulse and noticed that the belt around her waist was not tied as tightly as before. She inwardly nodded her head, confirming that the medicine Madame Xu had provided was indeed effective.

While taking her pulse, Lady Lü frowned and her face turned a few shades paler.

”My stomach is hurting again,” Lady Lü said softly.

”Relax, Your Highness. I will perform acupuncture to alleviate the pain,” Bai Ruozhu said. After fetching the silver needle, she administered acupuncture to Lady Lü. Soon, Lady Lü’s frown eased, and it was obvious that her stomach pain had subsided.

”However, although acupuncture provides pain relief, it is after all a temporary solution and doesn’t address the root cause. Your Highness’s gastrointestinal health still needs proper attention—not just medication, but diet as well,” Bai Ruozhu said as she drew out some paper and a pen from her medicine box. ”Please wait, Your Highness, while I write down the formulas and a dietary plan. Follow it for three days, and you will certainly see improvement.”

At that moment, Jiu Sheng also took out paper and a pen, leaning over to copy the formulas Bai Ruozhu was writing.

Lady Lü thought it was odd enough that five female physicians were learning from Bai Ruozhu, but there was also a male Imperial Doctor taking notes. She found it very curious indeed.

”Who is this Imperial Doctor?” Lady Lü asked.

Jiu Sheng quickly put down his pen and bowed to Lady Lü, saying, ”I am Jiu Sheng, an officer from the Imperial Medical Hospital, and Doctor Bai is my Chief Doctor. Currently, I am learning from my teacher.”

Lady Lü listened in amazement. Suddenly, she recalled the matter of slim waists and, looking at Jiu Sheng, asked, ”Imperial Doctor Jiu, what do you think about women having slim waists?”

Jiu Sheng chuckled and said, ”Even if I don’t consider it from a physician’s perspective and look at it purely from a man’s point of view, men prefer women with fuller figures—they feel better to the touch.”

Bai Ruozhu was busy writing and let out a snort of laughter. Accustomed to the subtleties of the ancients, she found Jiu Sheng’s blunt words somewhat unbearable.

Lady Lü’s face flushed to her neck, and she said somewhat angrily, ”Imperial Doctor Jiu, it would be better if you paid more attention to your words.”

”Yes, it is my fault for speaking out of turn,” Jiu Sheng replied, but there was little sign of fear in his eyes. He bowed in apology and then continued to transcribe the formulas Bai Ruozhu was writing.

Bai Ruozhu originally wanted to scold him for his incautious speech, but then thought that what he said was indeed the truth, that a fuller body had a better feel to it, and since his intention was to stop Lady Lü from dieting, it wasn’t right to blame him.

After Bai Ruozhu had written the Formulas for Lady Lü, she dried them and handed them over to Lady Lü’s personal maidservant, saying ”Take the medicine twice a day, and the diet is for three days; it must be prepared precisely as I have written.”

The maid looked surprised and said, ”Five meals a day? Isn’t that too much?”

”Eating smaller meals more frequently is the way to nourish the stomach, just eat half a bowl each time,” Bai Ruozhu explained.

The maid nodded. ”Alright, I’ll make sure to arrange it properly for Her Ladyship.”

At that moment, a palace maid came to report from outside, ”Your Ladyship, Lady Xu is here to visit you.”

Lady Lü didn’t particularly like Lady Xu, especially since Lady Xu had become much more beautiful, and who wouldn’t feel envious?

But since Bai Ruozhu was still present, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to send Lady Xu away, so she had to say, ”She is kind. Let her come in.”

Soon Lady Xu entered, paid her respects to Lady Lü, and then thanked Bai Ruozhu with a smile. ”Dr. Bai, your medical skills are truly incredible. I haven’t had a headache in several days. Before, when the headaches came, I couldn’t sleep the whole night.”

”Lady Xu, it’s good that your health has improved. But you must continue with the treatment. Your situation is similar to Lady Lü’s; you both need proper care,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile, then cast a quick glance at Lady Lü.

”Yes, I will certainly follow the doctor’s orders,” replied Lady Xu, who was in good spirits and seemed more lively thanks to her improved health.

Lady Lü, hearing this, felt a great deal of envy and her trust in Bai Ruozhu’s medical skills increased even more. Bai Ruozhu silently observed her reaction, thinking it was time to stoke the fires a little more.

”Actually, Lady Lü could also practice a form of Yoga. It not only helps improve the health but also enhances the figure, making the body more graceful,” said Bai Ruozhu with a smile. ”This Yoga is a fitness secret technique that has spread from beyond our lands. If Your Ladyship doesn’t mind, I am willing to teach you the movements.”

Upon hearing this, Lady Lü’s eyes lit up. Could it be that she could become even more beautiful?

Before she could respond, Lady Xu eagerly said, ”Dr. Bai, you can’t play favorites. I want to learn as well.”

Bai Ruozhu looked at Lady Lü with a smile, and since Lady Lü couldn’t properly decline, she hurriedly said, ”Since there is such a secret technique, Dr. Bai might as well share it.”

Bai Ruozhu then explained the basic requirements for practicing Yoga to them and taught them the most fundamental positions. At first, both felt the poses were strange and were somewhat embarrassed to perform them, but seeing Bai Ruozhu do them so openly, they practiced several times.

”Yoga is about gradual progress; you two must not be too demanding of yourselves to prevent injury. It is enough for you to practice twice a day for a quarter of an hour each,” Bai Ruozhu emphasized.

They both agreed, and Bai Ruozhu took her leave, while Lady Xu stayed behind, discussing Yoga movements with Lady Lü. Their relationship seemed to grow closer because of it.

In the blink of an eye, two days had passed and Lady Lü’s health had improved a lot, with fewer stomach pains and even when they occurred, they were less severe than before. Just when she thought she would recover soon, she suddenly began vomiting violently and even convulsed throughout her body from the pain in her stomach, with large beads of sweat forming on her forehead...
