Chapter 1473: Chapter 1574: The Trouble Caused by a Slender Waist_1

”Could it be that someone disguised themselves as Hao Mu?” the Empress Dowager asked as she looked at the pitifully weeping little maid and spoke to Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu harbored the same suspicion, but having been through many trials and seen the wickedness of human hearts, she dared not be careless anymore.

”Empress Dowager, let’s first lock this maid in the Sky Prison and interrogate her thoroughly. If she is innocent, it will not be too late to release her.”

”That seems reasonable,” the Empress Dowager nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, a cold light flashed in the little maid’s eyes, and her body unexpectedly shot into the room, heading straight for Fen Wan who was soaking in the medicinal bath barrel!

That movement was so swift, she hardly seemed like an ordinary maid, clearly, she was a Martial Arts expert, but strangely, nobody had noticed it until now.

Moreover, Ruozhu had just sealed the maid’s acupoints, and in an instant, she understood why the little maid pretended to be pitiable—it was all to buy time to release her acupoints.

Hao Feng and Luan Chao were the quickest to react, charging towards the little maid. Suddenly, a dagger appeared in the maid’s hand, aimed straight for Fen Wan’s throat.

In this critical moment, Hao Feng released a burst of inner strength from his hand, striking the little maid’s body and causing her to miss Fen Wan with her stab.

Luan Chao seized the opportunity to kick her, kicking the little maid to the side.

”Who exactly are you?” Luan Chao rushed over and restrained the little maid, this time not taking any chances, promptly dislocating both of her arms.

Though dislocation is not as serious as a fracture, being forcefully disarmed is incredibly painful, yet the little maid did not utter a sound, merely clenching her teeth tightly as beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.

Inside the room, Fen Wan was still soaking in the medicinal bath barrel, and Luan Chao sensibly picked up the little maid and left the room.

”Speak, who sent you here?” Luan Chao, wary she might attempt suicide, dislocated the little maid’s jaw with a lift of his hand. Then he touched her face a few times, ”To think you are not in disguise. How long have you been hiding in the Palace?”

The little maid did not have the look of someone who would rather die than speak. Luan Chao’s face darkened, ”There are always ways to make you confess willingly!”

Immediately, Luan Chao signaled to his subordinates with a glance; two Shadow Guards took the little maid away.

The Empress Dowager, with lingering fear, said, ”I remember that maid; she has been in Cining Palace for three or four years now, hasn’t she?”

”Her name is Dudu, and indeed it’s been over three years,” Hao Mu confirmed with a shake of his head, ”It’s hard to tell on an ordinary day.”

The subsequent matters were left to the Emperor and the Shadow Guards. After giving Hao Feng further instructions, Bai Ruozhu left for the Female Physicians Institution.

”Doctor Bai, Consort Lü from Hanlu Palace has seen the effectiveness of your treatment on Xumeiren and wishes for you to examine her. She’s having stomach pains again this morning,” Wei Tianzhen quickly said upon seeing Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu smiled and said, ”It was not just I who treated Xumeiren; all of you did too. In the future, you all will need to put forth effort as well.”

The five female physicians felt somewhat embarrassed; they weren’t yet capable of treating any illnesses, still learning from Bai Ruozhu. But hearing Bai Ruozhu speak like this excited them, making them feel that they were not useless, that with hard work, they could surely treat people too.

”Help me take the medicine box; let’s go see Consort Lü,” Bai Ruozhu instructed Wei Tianzhen to lead the way as they left the Female Physicians Institution.

Jiu Sheng saw them leaving for the medicinal visit and quickly grabbed a pen and paper to follow, some people at the Imperial Medical Hospital showed contempt, sneering, ”Jiu Sheng, a renowned Imperial Doctor, is actually running errands for those female physicians, truly a disgrace to the Imperial Medical Hospital.”

Soon, Bai Ruozhu met with Consort Lv, and her first impression was that the lady was frail as if a gust of wind could blow her away, with a waist as delicate as a willow, it wasn’t uncommon for someone with stomach problems to be thin.

After paying her respects, Bai Ruozhu carefully took Consort Lv’s pulse, then asked, ”Your Highness, do you often have trouble eating?”

”The stomach pain is so severe, how can I swallow anything?” Consort Lv said with a worried frown, her tiny face somewhat jaundiced, making her look prematurely aged.

Consort Lv’s stomach was extremely weak, it seemed that many things were hard for her to digest, no wonder she was always in pain.

She reached out and pressed down on Consort Lv’s stomach and suddenly noticed that Consort Lv’s clothes were especially tight, and the belt was tied very tightly as well. If Consort Lv had lost weight due to stomach problems, her clothes should be looser, and if she was uncomfortable, why was her belt tied so tight?

A phrase suddenly came to mind for Bai Ruozhu: ”King Chu likes a slender waist, many starve in his palace.”

”Your Highness, is it because you want to maintain a slender figure that you often eat very little, or even nothing at all?” Bai Ruozhu quickly asked.

”I was afraid of getting fat in the past, and indeed there was a time when I dared not eat anything, but now with the constant stomach pain, even if I want to eat, I feel helpless,” Consort Lv replied, her brows tightly knitted together.

Turns out she was right. She sighed and said, ”There’s a common saying that nine out of ten stomach issues are caused by hunger. Your Highness’s problem started because you didn’t eat regularly and always starved yourself. Now, you can only rely on gradually nourishing your stomach to get better.”

Pointing at Consort Lv’s belt, she said, ”If Your Highness truly wants to get better, you cannot continue to neglect your body like this. You need to loosen your belt a bit, it’s not necessary to wear it so tight. Otherwise, poor health will affect your complexion, and having only a beautiful figure without a beautiful face is pointless.”

Consort Lv’s expression fell instantly, ”No way, His Majesty likes my slim waist, I can’t become thick-waisted.”

Bai Ruozhu looked at her tiny waist, barely enough to grasp, and thought that even if she put on a bit more weight, she wouldn’t become thick-waisted.

”I’m not asking Your Highness to give up on your slim waist, just to appropriately recover your health so you can avoid the torment of stomach pains, wouldn’t that be good?” Bai Ruozhu patiently persuaded.

”I can’t loosen it, the moment I loosen the belt, it will quickly thicken, what if His Majesty doesn’t like me anymore?” Consort Lv said with an utterly desolate look, and then suddenly exclaimed, ”I don’t want treatment anymore, you all leave, my stomach isn’t in pain anymore.”

Bai Ruozhu paid her respects to Consort Lv and then directly took her leave.

This stunned Wei Tianzhen and the five others, as well as Jiu Sheng; they hadn’t expected Bai Ruozhu to simply walk away. Were they supposed to just watch Consort Lv’s illness worsen?

Seeing their puzzled looks, Bai Ruozhu shrugged her shoulders and said, ”Although doctors are often likened to loving parents, if she doesn’t accept the help, we don’t need to waste our efforts in vain. Talking too much could actually agitate her, and her current physical condition isn’t suited for too much excitement.”

Jiu Sheng realized, ”So a doctor also has to look at the situation when persuading someone, not just focus on responsibility and enthusiasm. Headstrong persistence can actually worsen the patient’s condition.”

”So, do we wait for Consort Lv to come around herself? What if she never does and continues to be stubborn?” Li Cuicui asked worriedly.

Bai Ruozhu started laughing, her expression cunning like a fox, ”If it really comes to that, I have my own clever plan.”

Today, I’ve been busy with issues regarding selling a property in Shanghai; I had no idea selling a house could be this bothersome, I didn’t have lunch until 2:30 PM. Tomorrow, I have to go back to record the utilities, then go and settle the bills; next month, I need to travel back again for the transfer of ownership, which is honestly exhausting. Today’s update is very late, so I can only strive to type, but I can’t guarantee there will be five updates.
