Chapter 1467: Chapter 1568 Dengdeng is Not a Little Brat_1

Bai Ruozhu greeted Nanny of Lady Xu and then wrote a prescription for her. She also explained, ”Lady Xu’s headache and poor rest are related to overthinking. It most likely started with an irregular schedule and frequent late nights.”

”Oh, it must be from the exhaustion before our lady entered the palace,” sighed Nanny. ”Her father was worried that she wouldn’t know the proper conduct in the palace, so he increased her studies two months before she entered. It was either practicing etiquette or memorizing poetry and books. She often had to study until late at night and got up early the next day to continue learning.”

”Yes, not only because of the lack of rest and sleep, but her stress was also too high, which left her with a chronic disease that causes recurring headaches. Was entering the palace really that good?” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but sigh. What was the point if a perfectly fine woman was tired to the point of developing neurological headaches?

Lady Xu often suffered from headaches and naturally looked pale and not in good spirits. How could she compete for favor in that state?

”Doctor Bai, can our lady’s condition be cured? The previous Imperial Doctors treated her for a long time, but there was no improvement,” Nanny said with a sigh.

”It can definitely be cured. However, if Lady Xu is unable to relax and always overthinks, it will be hard for her to fully recover,” Bai Ruozhu said while also advising some precautionary measures, including appropriate exercise for Lady Xu, paying attention to her diet, and even encouraging her to develop a hobby to prevent overthinking all day long.

”Alright, alright, I will definitely talk to our lady about this. We are so grateful to you, Doctor Bai, for today. Our lady hasn’t been able to sleep well these past few days. Thank you so much!” Nanny expressed her gratitude to Bai Ruozhu with a bow.

”Nanny, you are too kind. This is what we at the Female Physicians Institution should do. If Lady Xu feels unwell in the future, or if you have any discomfort, you can come to us,” Bai Ruozhu answered with a smile.

Nanny was surprised, ”Old servant can also come for treatment?”

”Why not? A doctor’s heart is kind; where is the reason not to treat someone?” Bai Ruozhu continued with a smile, ”Nanny, you have some minor eye problems. Drinking Chrysanthemum Tea can help. You should use your eyes less at night to prevent the condition from worsening. I’ll send you some eye Medicine Liquid in a couple of days. If you wash your eyes with it daily, it will help a lot.”

”Doctor Bai, you are truly incredible. Recently things seemed a bit foggy when I was looking at them. I didn’t realize it was truly an eye problem. Thank you so much!” Nanny, excited, was about to bow again to Bai Ruozhu but was steadied by her.

”Nanny, you don’t need to be so formal, these are our responsibilities.”

After leaving Lady Xu’s residence, Bai Ruozhu asked the five female physicians, ”Did you clearly remember the technique I just used?”

Wei Tianzhen nodded, ”We all remembered.”

”It’s fine if you didn’t remember clearly, you’ll practice it this afternoon. Discuss it with each other; those who remember clearly should help the others, and then you all should practice together. I’ll test you tomorrow morning,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile, ”There will be a reward for the person who ranks first.”

The five of them didn’t dare to ask what the reward was, but their eyes sparkled, seemingly filled with anticipation.

Walking on the path, Li Cuicui couldn’t help but ask, ”Doctor Bai, we used to only treat the masters. If we also start treating the servants, won’t we be too busy to cope?”

”If we’re too busy, we do our best. Treating more patients is also a way to improve yourselves,” Bai Ruozhu replied.

Jiu Sheng nodded repeatedly, taking notes. Years later, he compiled the Bai Family Medical Canon, which recorded many of Bai Ruozhu’s statements.

When lunchtime arrived, Bai Ruozhu left the Palace to have a meal with her parents and Little Dengdeng at home.

Little Dengdeng, holding his mother’s hand, asked, ”Mother, why hasn’t father been playing with me recently?”

”Your father is busy with official duties. Little Dengdeng should be understanding. He is working hard also to provide for us,” Bai Ruozhu said, patting her son’s head.

Dengdeng tilted his little head and said, ”When I grow up, I will make money, so Dad won’t have to work so hard.”

The whole family was amused and kept saying Dengdeng was a filial child.

Dengdeng, flattered, blushed and smiled shyly. Bai Ruozhu was amazed, wondering if shyness was an innate emotion even for such a little kid.

”Mom, will you take me to visit my uncle this afternoon? I’ve taken apart that wooden dog so many times already,” Little Dengdeng added.

Standing behind them, Nanny Zhang smiled and said, ”The lady doesn’t know how skilled the young master has become at dismantling that toy; even I get dizzy watching. He’s taken it apart and put it back together so many times. Now he doesn’t play with anything else, just that toy. His fingers are blistered from it, but he won’t put it down.”

Bai Ruozhu stretched out her hand to feel her son’s hand and indeed found a small blister on the tip of his right index finger. Seeing such a tender little hand with a blister made her heart ache immensely.

”Nanny, didn’t we agree you wouldn’t tell Mom? It doesn’t even hurt,” Little Dengdeng pouted angrily, blaming Nanny Zhang for breaking her promise.

Bai Ruozhu lifted Dengdeng onto her lap and said softly, ”Silly child, Nanny Zhang is worried about you; that’s why she told me. Didn’t you go to the doctor, Mom? I’ll apply some ointment, and the blister will go down quickly.”

After she finished speaking, she took a jar of ointment from Space and applied a little to Dengdeng’s fingernail.

”It’s cool, and it really doesn’t hurt anymore,” Dengdeng exclaimed, but then he quickly covered his mouth, realizing he’d slipped up; he had just said it didn’t hurt, and now he’d given himself away.

The family was again amused by Dengdeng’s antics, but they also felt sympathy for the child.

”Ruozhu, Dengdeng is still young; there’s no rush to learn,” Lin Ping’er whispered.

Bai Ruozhu gave a wry smile, ”That’s what I think too, but this child fell in love with mechanical technique the moment he saw it; no amount of persuasion is enough.”

Little Dengdeng, with quite sharp ears, immediately said to Lin Ping’er, ”Grandma, I want to learn mechanical technique from my uncle; I love mechanical technique.”

Lin Ping’er, caught between laughter and tears, muttered, ”What does a little brat know about love? I hope it’s not just a fleeting interest.”

Suddenly, Dengdeng’s eyes reddened, and he said with a choking voice, ”I’m not a little brat; I really do love it! Grandma is being mean!” Tears started to spill, and he began to cry.

The usually non-crying child was now in tears after just a few words, leaving Lin Ping’er both heartbroken and helpless. She quickly enveloped him in her arms and said, ”Grandma was just teasing you, our Dengdeng is already a little man. If you love it, you have to stick with it. Grandma supports you.”

Bai Ruozhu was amused by the antics of the old and the young. Her son might truly be enamored with mechanical technique, and he might not just have the fleeting Heart Nature of a child to give up after a few days. The adults should not underestimate the child and wound his self-esteem.

After dinner, Bai Ruozhu took Little Dengdeng to the Astrology Tower to find Ning Yu, but unexpectedly, a message came from the Palace, making Ning Yu’s already pale face turn even paler...
