Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

The blood had dried up, and the policeman, Ah Da, had left…

In peaceful times, they belonged to the civilians. They didn’t belong to the police or the soldiers. They didn’t belong to the frontline staff who fought with all the criminals. This was because they had to bear the price of peaceful times. The photo they took on the first day they wore their formal attire was the photo that would be placed in the mourning hall when they died.

The true era of peace belonged only to the people. The people living in the era of peace actually had piles of bones under their feet.

They were the bones of martyrs. They used their bodies to exchange for the civilians to live in an era of peace.

Ye Jian closed her eyes. She really didn’t have the energy to raise her arm and salute. Her legs, which suddenly lost the ability to stand, plopped heavily on the gravel-filled ground. She knelt to send off the dead police officer, Ah Da.

”Ah Da, Ah Da…”

Ah Da’s comrades were in pain. Their tears hit the ground, leaving teardrops.

Police Officer Ah Da was sacrificed. Police Officer Dayang Ciwang was sacrificed. Within a day, two frontline police officers were sacrificed in a county police station.

The director of the police station received a call, but it suddenly ended. No matter how many times he called back, he couldn’t reach the number. The director, who was panicking, personally went out and set off with several police officers.

The three police cars in the small county city blared their sirens and zoomed out of the county city.

Duo Ji had told the director that there was a situation on their side. The repeat offender, Gongga Ningbu, had escaped, and Ah Da was injured… Then, communication was cut off and they couldn’t contact each other anymore.

How did the criminal, Gongga Ningbu, escape? He had just been caught and hadn’t been brought back to the station. How did he escape?!

The director, who was panicking, sat in the car with a dark expression. From time to time, he would use his phone to call the number that contacted him five minutes ago.

No matter what, he couldn’t contact the other party.

He couldn’t contact them during an emergency. He was so anxious that he wanted to smash his cell phone.

In 2003 and 2004, there were still many villages in the mainland that didn’t have mobile and internet signals, let alone remote areas like the northwest and highlands.

Ping Tao carried his comrade, Ah Da, who was no longer breathing, into the car. He carefully placed him on the seat and sat him side by side with Dayang Ciwang. He and Duo Ji sat at the back and held their comrades’ shoulders tightly. Ye Jian became the driver.

Ping Tao and Duo Ji told Ye Jian that they needed to return to the service area and arrest the escaped felon, Gongga Ningbu.

Ye Jian, who was worried about Xia Jinyuan, thought for a moment before agreeing. She actually wanted to send the two dead policemen back to their workplace first.

”Ah Da and Dayang Ciwang have already left. Before they left, they were still thinking about the escaped prisoners. We have to catch the prisoners and let our comrades leave at ease. This is their last wish. We have to complete it.”

Duo Ji’s explanation made Ye Jian change her mind. She nodded and agreed to turn around.

In the car, Ye Jian finally knew why they didn’t use a car that was for detaining criminals.

At first, the three police officers, Ah Da, Ping Tao, and Duo ji, were only escorting the prisoner, Zha Cuomu, to the hospital in the city. Half a month before that, Dayang Ciwang and his other colleagues caught a criminal in this city. As he had some work to do at the city’s police station, he didn’t return to his work unit with his colleagues.

This morning, when he found out that his colleagues had gone to the hospital so that the prisoner could seek treatment, the 45-year-old Dayang Ciwang, who had stayed up late to work until his eyes were bloodshot, decided to go to the hospital to meet them. He wanted to get his eyes checked and get some medicine.

The hospital in a small county city couldn’t be compared to those big hospitals in other areas.
