Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian’s hands were stained with blood. She looked at Ah Da, whose expression was getting worse. Her heart sank.

He couldn’t hold on for long. The policeman on the frontline couldn’t hold on any longer. His life was flowing out of her hands at a speed that she could see…

Hearing his comrade encouraging him to persevere, Ah Da struggled to open his eyes for a long time. He hummed softly in response.

Ah Da, who was trying his best to survive, knew that it was useless no matter how hard he tried. He couldn’t do it anymore.

His low and almost inaudible voice made Duo Ji, who had been waiting for an answer, cry like a child. The Tibetan man with a broad back hunched his back and laid beside his comrade, crying.

Tears welled up in the corners of Ah Da’s eyes. He heard his comrade’s sorrowful cries and his reluctance to part with him.

He also knew that Dayang Ciwang, who had been silent all this while, had already left. Dayang Ciwang had suddenly fallen ill and could not be saved in time. He had already passed away.

Ah Da, whose breathing was weak, wanted to take a last deep breath. He took a deep breath with difficulty and looked at the double image in front of him. He moved his lips. ”Stop… Stop… the car. I… want to… take a look…”

He wanted to see the blue sky again. He wanted to see eagles flying above his head again. He wanted to get close to this land he loved deeply again. He wanted to breathe the cold wind from the snow mountain one last time…

The car stopped. When Ye Jian got out of the car, her knees were so weak that she was kneeling forward as if she was about to fall. Her hand was still on the policeman’s neck. She couldn’t fall. If she fell… she would let go of her hand.

The police officers, Ping Tao and Duo ji, carried Ah Da out of the car. They walked to the side of the road and sat down first. Ah Da sat and leaned into his comrades’ arms. Duo Ji knelt at the side and held Ah Da’s hands tightly. Ye Jian knelt too. Her hands never left Ah Da’s neck.

The wind from the mountain range blew over. Even the wind was filled with sorrow.

Ah Da tried his best to open his eyes. He looked at the blue sky to see if an eagle had flown over. The sky was so blue. When would the eagle fly over?

The air was really good. It had the smell of the desert and the coldness of a snow mountain.

This would be the last time Ah Da opened his eyes. The sunlight was so glaring that tears flowed out of his eyes. He had to try his best to keep them open and watch… because this was the last time he would see sunlight.

In less than a minute, Ah Da slowly closed his eyes. At the last moment of his life, he left behind his last words. ”Dayang Ciwang and I… are together. You… continue… to… live… on…”

He didn’t mention his family. He only mentioned his comrades who had been fighting by his side. In the last moment of his life, he couldn’t feel at ease about leaving his comrades behind.

As for his family… He closed his eyes before he could leave any last words for them.

”Ah Da!”

”Ah Da! My Ah Da!”

The Tibetan men cried in pain. They hugged Ah Da tightly and cried loudly. Their sorrow was enough to make the wind cry.

Ah Da left. The policeman, Ah Da, had left.

Ye Jian slowly retracted her hands and staggered to her feet. Her hands were shaking so much that she didn’t even have the strength to raise them and send off the dead policeman with a soldier’s salute.

She looked down at her hands that were stained with blood. The blood had dried up and congealed into brown blood clots. The seams between her palms, hands, and hands were filled with brown blood. It was all blood that represented life… It had dried up.
