Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

According to past practices, Ye Jian should be the busiest during this winter vacation. However, this year was different from the past. She could go home early for a vacation. She had even booked a plane ticket and would fly back to the capital city at 11:00 am tomorrow.

He Jing didn’t stay in school, but she needed to go on a business trip with an instructor. She would write the report when she came back. It would probably take around ten days.

The next morning, the two of them sent Ye Jian to the school gate and watched her leave. Looking at the airport bus that was far away, Xu Wen sighed with emotion. ”This is the first time I’ve sent Ye Jian home. In the past, she always left without saying anything. I wouldn’t even know that she had left the school.

”She’s been busy for so long. It’s time for her to have a relaxing vacation.” He Jing, who had also sent Ye Jian home for the first time, sighed softly. She looked at the traffic coming and going. When she opened her mouth again, her voice was filled with sorrow. ”After the winter vacation, it’ll be the last semester. The final assessment in April will be followed by May 1st. After that, June will come… And the three of us will go our separate ways.”

Xu Wen was a little down. She kicked the path with the tip of her toes. After a long time, she said in a low voice, ”Have you ever thought of taking the postgraduate entrance examination?”

He Jing was stunned for a moment. She shook her head. ”No, my family background doesn’t allow me to continue studying. I’ll follow the arrangements immediately after graduation.” She paused for a moment and seemed to have thought of something. She lowered her voice and asked, ”Is that your plan? Why didn’t I hear you mention it in the past?”

”Song Zhiqiu suggested that I take the postgraduate entrance examination until I get a PhD. My family… hopes so too. I didn’t think about it before, but now that both sides have suggested it, I’m a little tempted.”

”What about Song Zhiqiu? What are his plans?”

”He wants to go for postgraduate studies together. I’m only tempted because of this.”

”Then why are you still considering it? Go for it! It’s good to study for a PhD together! As long as the conditions allow it, you can continue your studies. You don’t have to consider it anymore. I think it’s very good.” He Jing smiled. Although she usually liked to pick on Xu Wen, she was still very good to her. ”As long as your family supports you and you don’t have any worries, you should continue your studies.

”What else do you have to worry about? Do you think that you won’t be able to get in? Are you scared of embarrassing yourself?”

…

Xu Wen looked at her comrade silently. The resentment in her eyes made He Jing laugh unkindly. ”Hahaha, am I right? Hahaha, you’re afraid of losing your reputation too, huh? Are you worried about being despised by Song Zhiqiu, who’ll definitely be able to pass the postgraduate entrance examination and get a PhD?”

”Be kind, comrade. I’ve been tired enough recently, but you’re still teasing me.” Xu Wen rolled her eyes. ”If you continue laughing, we’ll cut ties.”

It was impossible for them to cut ties. After He Jing laughed presumptuously, she cleared her throat and raised her hand to pat her comrade’s shoulder. ”Don’t worry. With Song Zhiqiu around, you’ll definitely be able to pass the exam. Since someone like him dares to ask you to take up postgraduate studies, it means that he has a detailed plan.

”Take care, comrade. You’re going to go for the postgraduate entrance examination. However, your decision came too late. You should’ve started preparing in your third year. Oh, right, you weren’t together at that time yet. You only decided to take the postgraduate entrance examination in your fourth year. You don’t have much time to prepare… No wonder you don’t have the confidence.

”Just give it a try anyway. How will you know if it won’t work if you don’t try? What if you get in? Time is tight. Let Song Zhiqiu hurry up and prepare for the exam. Fortunately, Jian has been supervising you for the past few years. It’s still possible for you to give it a try.”
