Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Wang Rui, who was flipping through the messages, pursed her lips and smiled. ”Every summer and winter vacation, you never returned to the Southern Province. You never logged into your email either. We would have gatherings every time and would send you an email in advance. But you’re so heartless. You didn’t even participate once.

”However, we all know that you must be busy. If not, you would definitely have joined us. That’s why we don’t blame you. We always thought that we’d have a chance to meet.

”Look at this. It’s from the class monitor. Look at how envious he is… He said that the next time we meet, he has to watch you perform.”

As Wang Rui spoke, she suddenly lowered her voice. ”Let’s change the performance. Your performance makes people cry easily. You dance so well that you make people want to cry. When I asked you about it, you only replied that it was a tribute to the sacrificed heroes. But why do I feel that… it happened to you?”

In the past, she felt that the word ’sacrifice’ was very far away from her. However, today, Ye Jian suddenly said that she wanted to ’remember the sacrificed heroes’. It made her feel that such sacrifices weren’t far away. It was just that she didn’t know about them.

Ye Jian looked at the messages sent by her former classmates. The corners of her lips curled up slightly as she said softly, ”Yes, it happened to someone close to me, so my emotions were fluctuating a lot. Huh, Meng Wen is in Xiang City too? Do you see her often?”

Wang Rui’s lips trembled slightly. She wanted to ask Ye Jian if she was in danger, but she didn’t have the courage to ask it.

Seeing that Ye Jian didn’t want to say too much either, Wang Rui retracted her gaze and looked away cooperatively. ”Yes, we used to see each other often on weekends. We saw each other the most during our first year. In her second year, she got a boyfriend. Alas, she immediately forgot about her friends after getting into a relationship. It’s already good enough that we can see each other every month.

”A few days ago, she told me that she would bring her boyfriend back home during National Day to meet her parents. I advised her not to be anxious. It’ll be better for her to let her parents meet him after she graduates and her career is stable. I wonder if she’ll heed my advice.”

It wasn’t strange for a girl to have a boyfriend when she was already in university. Ye Jian smiled and said, ”If you have the intention to persuade her, she’ll definitely take your words to heart. As for whether she’ll have her parents meet her boyfriend now or later, you don’t have to worry too much about it.

”I’ll memorize her cell phone number. If I’m able to come out of school, I’ll call the two of you to see if we can meet up. Besides you and Meng Wen, are there any other classmates in Xiang City?”

”That’s all of us. There are others in the coastal cities, but they’re already working now. We don’t have many common topics to talk about online. The ones I’m in contact with are all still studying.”

As she spoke, Wang Rui sounded a little sad. ”If friends go for a long time without seeing each other, there’ll be fewer and fewer topics to talk about. It’s not like how it was in senior high anymore.”

Ye Jian pursed her lips slightly. That was true. As time passed, the friendship between former classmates would fade. When they met again, they would feel a sense of unfamiliarity.

After the two of them finished reading all the messages, Ye Jian borrowed Wang Rui’s cell phone and replied to her former classmates one by one. She kept replying until… Wang Rui received a notification that she owed money for her phone bill!

It was impressive to send so many text messages that a bill was sent over!

Fortunately, the convenience store on campus was still operating. Ye Jian ran over while Wang Rui chased after her. Ye Jian then paid the bill for her. Wang Rui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”You’re still the same as before. You don’t want to take advantage of others at all! The bill is probably 30 yuan at most, but you topped up a hundred yuan directly!”

Ye Jian smiled and replied, ”Because I earn a salary!”
