Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

This concerned Xu Wen’s future development. He Jing, who usually didn’t talk much, said a bunch of things. ”If Jian were here, she’d definitely support you! If you really can’t make up your mind, do you want to call Jian now? You should’ve told us last night. Jian could even give you some advice in person.”

Xu Wen took it seriously. ”Since you support me, it looks like I can give it a try. I’ll ask Jian too.”

As she spoke, she took out the phone from her pocket that she received yesterday. She called Ye Jian’s number.

She couldn’t get through in the first two calls. When Xu Wen tried again, Ye Jian’s phone was turned off.

Xu Wen looked at the time displayed on her cell phone. It was 3:20 pm. Logically speaking, Ye Jian should have already arrived in the capital city. Her cell phone should be turned on.

”Why is her phone still switched off? Did something happen?” she muttered in a low voice. Song Zhiqiu, who was reading at the side, didn’t look up. He said calmly, ”It’s also possible that the plane was delayed because of the weather. Try again later. Send a message and ask her to get back to you once she turns on her phone.”

Xu Wen listened and sent a message to Ye Jian.

It was not until a few minutes past 7:00 pm that Xu Wen finally received Ye Jian’s reply. The content was very simple: [I arrived safely. I won’t be able to use my cell phone temporarily. I’ll contact you when I’m free.]

Xu Wen’s heart skipped a beat. She handed her cell phone to Song Zhiqiu. ”What does she mean? She’s already home. Why can’t she use her cell phone?”

Song Zhiqiu, who had been revising for the postgraduate exam with his girlfriend all day long, leaned forward and finished reading the message. As he pursed his lips, a hint of darkness flashed past his eyes. He smiled and said, ”It’s no big deal. Who keeps staring at their cell phones when they go home? She must be accompanying her family. She’ll contact you when she’s free. Be good and don’t think too much. You should hurry up and study for the postgraduate exam.”

As he spoke, he naturally reached out to confiscate Xu Wen’s phone and placed it in his pocket.

Ye Jian couldn’t use her cell phone for the time being… It seemed like Ye Jian had gone to do something unknown and dangerous.

It wasn’t a ’something’. It should be a mission.

They were still studying for the postgraduate entrance examination and wondering which unit they would go to in the future. Ye Jian, who was always ahead of all the students, had already confirmed her future path and adapted in advance.

Then, he looked at his girlfriend who was studying seriously. There was a faint smile in Song Zhiqiu’s eyes. It was all thanks to Ye Jian, who had plans for the future, that Xu Wen caught his interest. If not, he wouldn’t have suggested taking the postgraduate entrance examination together.

He hoped that Ye Jian could return safely. With her ability, she would definitely return safely.

’See you next year, comrade!’

In the quiet library, the students were writing furiously and working hard for their future. Ye Jian, who had made a call to ask for a refund and a new flight ticket, was already sitting in an inconspicuous black sedan. Besides her and the driver, there were two other people in the car.

”This is all the information about the missing girls. They all dropped out of school early to work because they were poor. Last March, the police intercepted a batch of new drugs. That was when this group of girls disappeared…”

The man in the back seat handed a stack of documents to Ye Jian. At the same time, he handed over a few photos. ”If it weren’t for the family of this girl who reported the case, no one would have realized that so many girls had gone missing. The investigating police didn’t think that their disappearances might be done by a multinational drug dealer. It was only last week when the narcotics police found a new clue that they connected the two.”

When Ye Jian arrived at the airport during the day, she received a call from Major General Yang. After talking for five minutes, her schedule changed. She flew from the capital city to Yun Province.
