Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

After listening to the soldier’s report, Lieutenant Colonel Zhu frowned. After pondering for a moment, he suddenly turned around and stopped in front of a military map. This was the military map of the entire Yeni, including the rainforest where the mine was located.

”Where is the vehicle parked?” he asked the soldier.

The soldier pointed out the approximate location of the vehicle on the military map. A look of joy flashed past Lieutenant Colonel Zhu’s eyes. He couldn’t wait any longer. He entered the tent and asked the soldier to contact the company that was going to rescue the hostages.

After several rounds of communication, Lieutenant Colonel Zhu finally contacted the Storm Commando Brigade whose members had entered the tropical rainforest.

The mine in the northwest of Yeni was located in a primitive tropical rainforest. The tropical rainforest was split into two. 59% was Libyan territory, and 41% was neighboring territory. It was especially rich in minerals.

Libya had abundant mineral and forest resources. However, because it was one of the poorest countries, it didn’t have the ability to develop, mine, and use these resources well. The Chinese mine company and the Libyan mine company signed a five-year contract. Both sides developed and shared resources.

While Li Jinnian was talking to Lieutenant Colonel Zhu, Big Shark pointed at a red sandalwood tree and said to Ye Jian, ”Only Libya has such a big red sandalwood tree. Unfortunately, to the Libyan people, it’s just a tree. It can’t change anything.”

Red sandalwood was a top-notch furniture material in the world. In China, there was the saying that one inch of red sandalwood was worth one inch of gold. This showed how precious red sandalwood was.

During a short rest, Ye Jian used her hands as fans to fan herself. The air was a little stuffy. Yeni, which had been sunny for four days, quickly welcomed heavy rain. It was the same in the rainforest.

She raised her head and looked at the red sandalwood tree. Two men could hug the circumference of the bark. This was the first time she saw a red sandalwood tree. If Big Shark hadn’t pointed it out to her, she wouldn’t have known that she had come into close contact with a red sandalwood tree.

She touched the rough bark and sighed softly.

The resources were obviously abundant, but because the country was poor, they couldn’t make use of these resources. It was unknown if it was a blessing or a pity that the expensive red sandalwood tree could survive here.

From the looks of it… the sorrow was greater than the blessing.

Big Shark seemed to have thought of something. After he finished speaking, he fell silent.

Three minutes later, Li Jinnian ended the call and spoke to Sea Anemone in a low voice. After another two minutes, the water ghosts received good news.

There was a hidden truck, and it was fully fueled. If they were lucky, they would be able to drive the truck to their destination.

Every vehicle in the peacekeeping camp was equipped with a GPS device. At the moment, the vehicle was still at the same spot. It hadn’t been driven away by the illegal militants or the original military unit in the tropical rainforest.

This was good news. Although they needed to take a detour, it was better than walking on two legs.

The group of 16 people continued their march. They were 64 kilometers away from the mine. The price of being so close was that they had to walk in the rainforest. They had to take a path that no one else would take.

Actually, there was no path. They had to rely on their own feet to create a path. They walked straight through the dense forest. The mosquitoes in this rainforest were huge, as though they had mutated.

The rainforest here was different from the forest at the border of Yunnan Province in China. Sometimes, large areas of trees soared into the sky in the primeval forest in Yunnan Province. Because of the lack of sunlight, there were very short bushes on the ground.

As for this place, there were all kinds of unknown trees that were taller than humans. There were dense bushes between the trees, and there were thorny vines entangled in the bushes. When one stepped on them… one would disappear.
