The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 548: Chapter 548 One Step to the Summit?_1

Wife?

Carson Flores suddenly looked askance, a puzzled expression appearing in his eyes.

His lawful wife was Shirley Miller, and Shirley Miller had been out of touch for half a year now; most importantly, she was an ordinary person who had never practiced cultivation before, so how could she have attempted an assassination on Gunner Tate?

Who was impersonating his wife?

Without needing instructions from Carson Flores, Abel Compton had already inquired in detail about the matter and only hung up after a long while.

”Mr. Flores, Gunner Tate was the target of an assassination, uh, it’s not quite right to call it an assassination, as the person did sneak into the Sect quietly and found Gunner Tate, but she presented herself openly, claiming to be your wife, named Shirley Miller...”

Carson Flores’s eyes widened, his expression astonished, ”Are you sure you got it right, Shirley Miller?”

Abel Compton nodded, ”That’s right, I specifically asked again, it’s definitely Shirley Miller, in her twenties, very beautiful...”

Shirley Miller attempted to assassinate Gunner Tate?

Carson Flores found it unbelievable; what was going on?

”And the result?”

Having confirmed that the assassin was indeed Shirley Miller, Carson Flores’s heart suddenly raced—her going against Gunner Tate, wasn’t that like a lamb entering a tiger’s lair?

”Both were injured, Shirley Miller escaped as the other experts from the Sect rushed over. Gunner Tate is now in seclusion healing his injuries.”

Carson Flores’s eyes widened, his face a picture of disbelief, ”Both were injured?”

Abel Compton’s face also showed an undeniable shock, clearly, he too was stunned by the news. After his initial shock, he suddenly felt fortunate.

Carson Flores, in his twenties, an Innate Grandmaster, could easily outmatch him. And Carson’s wife, also in her twenties, had managed to injure Gunner Tate to a mutual defeat—what kind of monstrous couple were they?

Carson Flores had just left Mount Kahdas; would there still be a way for them to survive if he joined forces with his wife against the Five Dragon Sect?

Having encountered Carson Flores first, no matter the process, he was ultimately now following Carson, could this be a blessing in disguise?

”Yes, it’s said that Gunner Tate is seriously injured, while Shirley Miller was also wounded but not as severely as Gunner Tate.”

Gunner Tate was more seriously injured than Shirley Miller?

Did that mean that Shirley Miller was more formidable than Gunner Tate?

Carson Flores felt as if he had heard an exaggerated joke. Just half a year ago, Shirley Miller had still been an ordinary person. And now, half a year later, she was evenly matched with Gunner Tate?

A leap to the peak?

Carson Flores couldn’t bother to inquire further from Abel Compton, he pulled out his phone, turned it on, and immediately dialed Shirley Miller’s number.

”I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off.”

Carson Flores put down his phone, his gaze indeterminate.

It really was Shirley Miller!

Before, he had been unable to reach Shirley Miller, but now her phone was turned off, indicating she had indeed returned.

Carson Flores was overwhelmed with unexpected joy; how had Shirley Miller suddenly become so powerful?

Could it really be as his aunt had said, that she had been taken to The Unknown Land?

Besides the miraculous methods of Cultivators from the Blessed Land of Cave Heavens, Carson Flores could think of no other way someone could turn an ordinary person into a super expert in half a year!

Did Shirley Miller seek out Gunner Tate because she heard he was being hunted by the Five Dragon Order?

To stand up for him?

Aside from feeling moved, Carson Flores’s emotions became incredibly complex.

After thinking it over, he called his aunt Leah Frost, who had always been in the western metropolis. Perhaps she had more information.

”Ah, you’re finally in touch!”

Leah Frost’s excited voice came through the phone, and then the next sentence stunned Carson Flores.

”Shirley Miller came looking for me!”

Carson Flores asked in surprise, ”What did Shirley want with you?”

Leah Frost replied, ”She came directly to ask if we knew of your whereabouts, saying she couldn’t contact you. I told her everything about you, then she left, and I don’t know where she went. You should get in touch with her quickly.”

”I can’t get through.”

Carson Flores said bitterly, ”Her phone is switched off. I’ve just received news that she went to the Five Dragon Sect to kill Gunner Tate, and both were injured in the process. Now I don’t know where she is...”

Leah Frost’s voice suddenly rose by an octave, ”Assassinate Gunner Tate? Both injured? You’re talking about Shirley Miller? Am I hearing this right?”

”You heard right, I’m shocked too, but that’s the fact.”

Carson Flores suddenly came to his senses, ”Aunt, when you said you told her everything, you meant?”

Leah Frost said righteously, ”Everything, of course, including your affairs with Samantha Tate and her being sent to the Heavenly Mountain cave...”

Carson Flores suddenly found it hard to maintain his composure, ”You said all of that?”

Leah Frost huffed, ”Otherwise, you tell her. Samantha was right, you’re good at everything else, but when it comes to relationships, it’s good to be responsible, but you’re often too soft-hearted and hesitant. So, I told her for you, to stop the back and forth.”

Embarrassed, Carson Flores asked, ”What did she say?”

Leah Frost shook her head, ”She didn’t make any statement. At first, she said she could step aside for you and Samantha Tate, but I called her out on her true feelings. She then found herself in a dilemma, and I advised her that neither of you are ordinary people, so there’s no need to constrain yourselves with the laws or standards of ordinary people. If there’s affection, then there’s no need for mutual torment. It seemed like she listened, but as for her final decision, I don’t know.”

If there’s affection, then there’s no need for mutual torment?

A thought stirred in Carson Flores’s heart. Yes, now even Shirley Miller had become an Innate Grandmaster, and potentially they would all embark on the path of cultivation. Why couldn’t they walk it together?
