The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Since We Care About Each Other, Why Torture Each Other?_1

Shirley Miller listened silently, her face a tapestry of complex emotions.

Carson Flores arrived in Polgel, saved Samantha Tate, glimpsed her chest, was pulled by Samantha to the hospital to pretend to be her boyfriend, but accidentally saved Samantha’s grandfather, and thus, their fates intertwined.

She finally unraveled the question that had long puzzled her, understanding why Carson mentioned upon their meeting that ”he’d seen her chest, and she’d been relentlessly pursuing him.”

Carson had mistaken her for her cousin Samantha Tate.

At the time, Carson wanted to explain, but she had not given him the chance to do so, driving away instead.

Upon reflection, after she and Carson got married, whenever they discussed the matter, Carson had tried to explain, but she had always interrupted him.

After that, things became simple.

At home, Carson played the role of a pretend husband, while he played the pretend boyfriend to his cousin outside. His cousin fell for him first, initiating the pursuit of Carson, and their affection deepened over time, all of it so natural.

When Samantha came to the company to see her, they both ran into Carson in the elevator, one a pretend wife, the other a pretend girlfriend, both denying their roles.

Later on, Carson and Samantha’s affection deepened, and Carson kept silent, probably planning to wait until the three-month term ended to divorce her and then elope with Samantha.

During their conflict with the Miller Family, her relationship with Carson took a significant step forward, yet the three-month term had not ended when she was taken away by Mr. Ouyang. Before leaving, she had brought up the past, telling Carson not to worry about her.

This was not something she could blame Carson or Samantha for.

”Although they both acknowledged each other and even shared the same room, they haven’t truly been together...”

Shirley Miller looked up in confusion, not immediately grasping Leah Frost’s point.

Leah Frost decided to be blunt: ”What I mean is, they haven’t slept together, they haven’t had sexual relations.”

Shirley Miller’s eyes widened in shock: ”Why?”

Leah Frost spoke softly, ”Samantha feels like a thief, stealing something that belongs to you. She wants to meet you and have a proper conversation to decide the final outcome. Until then, she couldn’t bring herself to...”

Shirley Miller’s eyes instantly reddened: ”Why is she so foolish? Knowing that Carson and I are just in a marriage of convenience, she could have told me directly. How could I have stood in the way of her happiness? Even if they were together, she’s my cousin, how could I blame her?”

Leah Frost felt the genuineness of Shirley Miller’s emotions, whispering, ”It’s because she also sincerely sees you as a sister. And doesn’t she also know that you’ve fallen for Carson?”

Shirley Miller instinctively denied it: ”No, Carson and I are just in a marriage of convenience!”

Leah Frost looked intently into Shirley Miller’s eyes: ”Really? But Carson has said that you shared a bed, that you were close... If you weren’t in love with him, would you, a person like you, ever allow yourself to be so intimate with someone you didn’t like?”

Shirley Miller became flustered.

Leah Frost’s words were like a sharp sword, slicing through her facade, piercing right into her heart.

”Samantha entered the depths of Heavenly Mountain, and Isabella Roth has said that unless she makes progress in her cultivation and bears a mission, she may not leave Heavenly Mountain. This means that Carson and Samantha will not meet again for an unknown time. Because of this, will you also disregard your own true feelings and leave Carson?”

”Samantha’s last wish before she left was for you to stay with Carson, not to divorce. Would you want to disappoint her?”

Shirley Miller was at a loss for words and finally sighed, ”What does Carson think?”

Leah Frost pursed her lips and spoke softly, ”Let me ask you a question first, where did you disappear to these past few months?”

Shirley Miller shook her head: ”I can’t say.”

Leah Frost’s eyes sparkled: ”Did you really go to The Unknown Land? Don’t worry, even if you tell me, I’ll keep it a secret... ”

Shirley Miller hesitated for a long time before finally nodding, ”Yes.”

Leah Frost smiled: ”Then isn’t the problem solved?”

Shirley Miller looked at Leah Frost: ”Solved? How?”

Leah Frost chuckled softly: ”Carson is destined to follow the path of cultivation just as well. All three of you will become cultivators, blessed with prolonged lives. Why limit yourselves with the laws and standards of the mortal world?”

Shirley Miller vaguely understood Leah Frost’s implication, her expression a mix of embarrassment and annoyance: ”You’re saying we all...”

Leah Frost laughed: ”The choice is yours. I’ve heard that aside from yourselves, Carson has another woman in Seashore, the daughter of the wealthiest family in Tianhai. You two sisters both know her and have good relations with her, and most importantly, you are both aware of her relationship with Carson. If the two of you can overlook that, then why are you so bothered by each other being together?”

”If your sisterly affection is not stronger than your relationship with Camille Rhodes, you can tolerate her, why can’t you tolerate your own sister or cousin?”

”If you leave, Samantha won’t be happy; if Samantha leaves, you’ll be sad. Since you care for each other so much, why torment each other?”
