The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 493: Chapter 493: In a Really Bad Mood, Take it Out by Killing Carson Flores!_1

In the tent, Kane Howell was dumbfounded.

He had sent everyone else away to question Garrett Howell and the other three alone, but he never anticipated receiving news that shocked him to the core.

”He defeated all four of you by himself?”

Garrett Howell wished he could dig a hole and bury himself in it: ”Yes, none of us could withstand a single punch from him.”

Kane Howell widened his eyes: ”Could he be an Innate Grandmaster? No, that can’t be right; he’s only been a Great Grandmaster for a short time, hasn’t he?”

Garrett Howell forced a bitter smile: ”That’s what we thought too, so we planned to rob him of his possessions. Had he not shown consideration for Jaiden’s sake, I’m afraid we all might have been killed.”

Anger flashed across Kane Howell’s face, and he was about to rage when the memory of the annihilated Vasquez Family dampened his fury. His gaze shifted towards Josie Howell, who was hiding at the back, her face still swollen: ”Carson Flores did this to you?”

Josie Howell answered with shame: ”I did it to myself. If I hadn’t, he would have. And if he had, I probably wouldn’t be alive...”

Kane Howell looked at Josie Howell’s ghastly appearance and was speechless for a long while. As an Innate Grandmaster himself, here to ensure safety, the Howell family members got humiliated, yet they could do nothing but endure.

Four people couldn’t beat one?

Disgraceful!

Humiliated and unable to take revenge!

No reason to fight back, nor dare to!

Pathetic!

Kane Howell’s spirits deflated, and he waved his hand: ”Forget it, forget it. That kid is not someone to mess with. Stay away from him in the future.”

...

At the edge of the camp.

Jaiden Howell looked grim, his eyes filled with guilt as he spoke to Carson Flores: ”Mr. Flores, I’m sorry. I wanted to repay your kindness, but I almost ended up costing you your life...”

Carson Flores actually felt grateful to Jaiden Howell. Without his recommendation, he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to enter the Underground City, wouldn’t have met Wilson Weiss, and wouldn’t have received Weiss’s inheritance. This was a significant reason why Carson Flores could remain calm when he saw the four Howells again.

As foolish and malicious as these four were, if things had been different, he might have become absorbed in searching the houses in that village, rather than wandering out due to the inevitable fruitless search and ultimately encountering Wilson Weiss.

Because of the positive outcome, every step of the journey seemed like the best possible path.

But even though Carson Flores appreciated Jaiden Howell, that gratitude was something he kept to himself.

A single Cultivation Technique from a powerful being led to such bloody and brutal slaughter—what would happen if word got out?

Carson Flores was certain that if this news were to spread, he would be hunted down by a pack of Innate Grandmasters within minutes!

Carson Flores reassured him: ”Old sir, look, I’ve gained quite a lot, and I’ve learned something new, too. Besides, what they did has nothing to do with you. Please don’t blame yourself. I’m actually very grateful to you for recommending me.”

Jaiden Howell sighed deeply: ”Mr. Flores, I’m sorry for what happened. If there is ever anything you need me to do or any way I can help, just ask.”

After offering some consolation to Jaiden Howell, Carson Flores found a spot to lie down and catch up on some much-needed sleep, waiting for what would come next.

He didn’t leave because he wanted to see how things would unfold.

Not long after the Howell’s squad had returned, other squads began arriving one after another.

Compared to the well-organized Howell squad, the others had fared worse. Injuries were the least of their issues—many squads had suffered severe losses, and some had gone entirely missing, likely meeting with misfortune.

When Maxton James emerged with two members of the Five Dragon Sect, Carson Flores felt a tinge of disappointment.

Five of them, first ambushed by several squads, then caught in chaotic battles with many other squads, and attacked indiscriminately by the Ghost-faced Bats, and only two had died?

This guy was lucky, surviving against all odds.

The death of two comrades and a scarred face filled Maxton James with rage. He had hoped that Carson Flores might have died as some small consolation, only to be shocked to see Flores upon returning to the surface, alive and apparently having left before him.

Fuck, the kid is still alive, and he got out before me?

I’ll get you as soon as I turn around!

In plain view of everyone, Maxton James couldn’t attack Carson Flores, especially since the wound on his face was still fresh and painful.

As Maxton James shared the story of the man in green who strode down the road and effortlessly claimed the door trigger, everyone was shocked once more.

This Unknown Land was not only home to countless man-eating monsters but also housed Cultivators so powerful they were beyond comprehension!

Wasn’t this expedition tantamount to suicide?

”Recall all exploration squads!”

As all the Sects busied themselves with recalling their exploration teams, Carson Flores quietly left the camp, and it seemed he did so quite carelessly as he was spotted by Maxton James who was lying outside his tent resting.

Maxton James sprang to his feet, his eyes gleaming as he watched Carson Flores’s receding figure: ”I’ve rested enough; time for a stroll.”

With a casual remark, Maxton James followed Carson Flores from a distance, his gaze malevolent.

Feeling extremely upset, killing Carson Flores would be a good way to vent!
