The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 589: Chapter 589: The Effects of the Strange Fish_1

The strange fish was about one meter long, its body soft and somewhat like a ribbonfish, but this was clearly not a ribbonfish.

How could a sea fish live in freshwater?

The strange fish had a set of sharply interlocked teeth, but its mouth was not big. Otherwise, the little guy’s wound would have been larger.

The strange fish had various wounds all over its body, clearly slashed by the little guy’s claws or bitten by its mouth.

The little guy nudged the fish toward Carson Flores, obviously offering it to Carson as a token of thanks.

Lilly Compton laughed, ”It’s giving you the fish, what should we do?”

Carson chuckled, ”Well, let’s give it a try. Eating just the fish meat shouldn’t be too much of an issue.”

Lilly’s face lit up with anticipation, ”Alright, let’s cook a bit to taste it first. I’ll go out and get some cooking gear.”

Soon, Lilly returned with a portable butane stove, cookware, and seasonings, and the two began cooking in the cave.

Carson selected some of the fish meat for cooking, lightly pan-fried it until golden brown on both sides, and sprinkled some seasoning salt on top before it was ready to eat.

After tasting a bite, Lilly’s eyes widened, ”So tender, so fragrant, so delicious!”

Carson also took a taste and indeed, it was incomparably delicious, bringing an indescribable pleasure.

As the fish meat settled in the belly, a warm sensation quickly rose from the stomach.

This feeling was familiar, just like the reaction after eating the raw Dragon Pattern Fish on Mount Kahdas, only less intense.

”It looks like this fish is indeed unusual, it has effects similar to the Dragon Pattern Fish from the Jade Pool. Let’s practice cultivation while eating!”

Lilly was inexplicably excited, ”Great, Carson, this must count as a serendipitous encounter, right?”

Carson smiled, ”I suppose so. In a world where Spiritual Energy is scarce, it’s truly uncommon to come across such a thing.”

Lilly curiously asked, ”If a place like this can be found by even me, why hasn’t anyone else found it?”

Carson had already considered this question and replied, ”The Unknown Land is rich in Spiritual Energy, those Cultivators don’t need to search for places like this in the mortal realm to practice. Besides, the Cultivators in the mortal realm mostly follow mortal cultivation techniques and not true Cultivation Techniques. Therefore, they can’t sense Spiritual Energy and don’t need to find such places to practice...”

”Even if there are occasionally special cases like you and me searching for lands rich in Spiritual Energy, exhausting the energy, it will slowly accumulate back over five or ten years. That is to say, as long as no Cultivator comes here within those five or ten years to deplete the Spiritual Energy, when we find this place, the result will be the same.”

Lilly had an epiphany and immediately became uplifted, ”Since the land of Spiritual Energy can recover, if I find more such places and rotate my practice among them, wouldn’t my strength increase rapidly, and perhaps I might even Breakthrough Innate and above more easily?”

Carson laughed, ”In theory, yes, but bottlenecks depend on the individual. The dean was stuck at the peak of Inner Qi because of talent issues and couldn’t improve, but you advanced to Great Grandmaster in one go. As long as you have the talent, what you said is entirely achievable.”

Lilly’s expression was one of excited anticipation, which meant that as long as she had the talent for Breakthrough, she would definitely reach above Innate and eventually enter The Unknown Land!

Watching Lilly’s thrilled expression, Carson encouraged, ”The Cultivation Technique you practice must be good; otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to advance so quickly. Work hard on your practice, and if one day you Breakthrough above Innate, you will see the entrance to The Unknown Land and qualify to enter it.”

Lilly nodded her head, ”Then I will come to find you in the future!”

Carson smiled, ”I don’t even know where I’ll be in the future. If you really need to find me and can’t, you should go to the Heavenly Mountain Cave to find Samantha Tate, or you could search for Shirley Miller at Rajevols Divine Mountain overseas.”

Lilly committed this to memory.

If Shirley Miller was his wife, then who was this Samantha Tate?

His red string of fate?

Lilly didn’t ask.

Carson telling her this meant he no longer considered her an outsider; she was already very happy.

”Let’s continue practicing quickly, we can’t waste such good fortune.”

In the following days, Carson and Lilly alternated between eating the pan-fried fish fillets and practicing their cultivation, leaving the rest of the fish to the little guy.

Firstly, they didn’t know if eating other parts would cause trouble and secondly, the fish was after all, the little guy’s spoils of victory, hoarding it would be somewhat unreasonable.

The little guy wasn’t picky – apart from the portion Carson cut away, it ate everything else completely.

After feasting, the little guy curled up and fell asleep next to Carson. It slept for so long that, had it not been for its steady breathing, Carson might have thought something went wrong after it ate.

Upon reflection, perhaps this was another way for it to digest and absorb the Spiritual Energy from the fish meat.

When the alarm clock sounded, Carson opened his eyes from his meditative state.

Checking the time, it was already the 8th.

The 10th was the day of the duel between Messiah Frost and Adriel Frost; it was time to head back!

Carson’s gaze fell on the still sleeping little guy, his eyes filled with hesitation – should he take it with him?
