Chapter 555: Chapter 555 The Strongest in Kyushu_1

”Apologies, but what are those?”

Carson Flores couldn’t continue discussing the issue with Leah Frost and had to quickly change the subject. After all, Leah Frost was his aunt and elder, wasn’t she?

Carson opened the sandalwood box.

Inside weren’t many items, just four little boxes sealed with wax, and an exquisitely crafted Token.

Seeing Carson’s awkwardness, Leah Frost stopped teasing her and explained, ”Two Dragon-Tiger Pills, one Great Revival Pill, and an invitation Token to the Nine Provinces Gathering.”

Carson’s eyes lit up—all good stuff.

The Dragon-Tiger Pill wasn’t much use to an Innate Grandmaster, but for Great Grandmasters, it was quite beneficial to enhancing their strength. The pill was hard to refine and very difficult to obtain.

The Divine Cloudy Sect’s Rocky Stein could only produce one pill, while the entire Vasquez Family could only produce three. Now that the Reid Family could only come up with two showed how precious they were.

As a Physician, Carson naturally understood the efficacy of the Great Revival Pill—a Superior Elixir that treated internal injuries. It was said that as long as there was a breath left in one, it could cling to life and not die. For lighter internal injuries, it was even more effective, like a cure-all.

Carson’s attention fell on the shimmering gold Token, and he asked softly, ”The Nine Provinces Gathering—what’s that? Is it a conference or an organization?”

Leah Frost explained, ”An organization founded by the strongest in the Nine Provinces, Kaenu Hail. The group doesn’t have many members, but each member must possess two key elements: first, powerful strength, at least that of an Innate Grandmaster; and second, significant influence in a particular region.”

Carson blinked, ”An uncrowned king?”

Leah laughed, ”Something like that. It’s said that the Nine Provinces Gathering divides the world into nine regions, selecting three official and three alternate members for each zone. That means there are a total of fifty-five people in the Nine Provinces Gathering, including Kaenu Hail.”

Curious, Carson asked, ”Every organization has a purpose or philosophy. What’s the Nine Provinces Gathering’s philosophy?”

Leah replied, ”To punish the wicked and maintain peace.”

Carson snorted with derision, ”With so many evil people in this world, do they really kill them all? Plus, in the realm of cultivation, with its webs of grudges—’you kill me, I kill you’—who is considered the evil one? Or do they decide that?”

Leah Frost didn’t smile, ”They naturally don’t concern themselves with the grudges within the cultivation world; after all, where there are people, there is conflict. But if there are utterly vile and powerful individuals who commit heinous acts, they will intervene. Not all Innate Grandmasters in this world are good people. After all, once someone gains immense power, it’s easy for desires to become uncontrolled and for them to commit outrageous deeds.”

Carson asked, ”Are there precedents?”

”Plenty.”

Leah casually mentioned a few examples of crazed, malevolent Innate Grandmasters who were put down by the Nine Provinces Gathering, ”I trust in Kaenu Hail’s original intention. The Nine Provinces Gathering doesn’t belong to any one power but acts as a blade hanging over the heads of all wrongdoers, instilling fear in them.”

Carson didn’t comment. He toyed with the Token in his hand, ”What about this invitation Token?”

Leah explained, ”The Nine Provinces Gathering meets once a year. Those who receive an invitation Token can attend, listen in, and when there are vacancies, some attendees will be invited to fill them, maintaining the fifty-five-member structure.”

Curiously, Carson asked, ”The Reid Family received an invitation, and they gave the Token to me. Does that mean I can attend?”

”Yes.”

Leah answered, ”As long as one reaches to the level of an Innate Grandmaster and has an invitation Token, you can attend. The Nine Provinces Gathering isn’t really a mystery; most families know about it, and every year they invite some people to expand their influence.”

Carson turned the Token over and noticed a date and a phone number on the back, ”Is this the meeting date? That’s not many days away.”

Leah nodded, ”That’s right. You can call that number to get the specific meeting location and other details. Just follow the instructions.”

Carson wasn’t very interested, looking up to ask, ”Are you interested in attending?”

Leah shook her head, ”I don’t want to expose my strength.”

Carson casually tossed the Token back into the box, ”I’m not particularly interested either.”

Leah, curious, asked, ”You don’t want to meet Kaenu Hail, the strongest in the Nine Provinces?”

Carson chuckled, ”Nope. What if he doesn’t like the look of me, calls me a villain, and smashes me with a slap? Where would I go to reason then?”

Leah couldn’t help but laugh, ”How are you a villain?”

Carson blinked, ”Don’t they all call me a ’clan wiping specialist’? Along the way, I’ve been taking out clans left and right. I’ve already taken out two here in Xijing, and next up is the Five Dragon Sect...”

Leah chuckled, ”That’s just normal enmity; you haven’t indiscriminately killed innocents. That doesn’t cross the line, so it’s not considered evil. If you were to truly wipe out families, leaving no survivors, even commoners, that for the Nine Provinces Gathering would be an evil that must be eliminated...”
