After purchasing the golden sternum, Gu Xi led his subordinates, carrying the Dead Mirror Immortal, towards the Library.

As for the sign in front of the Witch’s House, the woman leaning at the window had already closed her eyes and ceased her previous actions.

For such an unreliable living signboard, what could Gu Xi say?

After all, his city was filled with such strange and bizarre things.

This time, he hoped there wouldn’t be anything that would make him uncomfortable in Hope City.

Just as Gu Xi was approaching the Library, a horn sounded from the direction of the Barracks.

Gu Xi turned his head to look in that direction and discovered colorful flags rising above the Barracks, as if they had won a great prize.

Gu Xi thought for a bit and waved to his subordinates, ”Carry this Dead Mirror Immortal to the Library for me; I’m going to take a look at the Barracks.”

Upon saying this, the Evil Coffin automatically turned, carrying Gu Xi towards the Barracks.

Upon reaching the Barracks’ gate, before Gu Xi could jump off the Evil Coffin, Fu Gu came out to greet him.

”Master, you have arrived.”

”I just heard the sound of the horn and came to see what’s happening. What exactly has occurred?”

”It’s like this, Master, the Barracks have completed their first upgrade, and the sound from earlier was from the Barracks’ upgrade.”

”The Barracks have upgraded?”

Gu Xi was somewhat surprised upon hearing this.

He never expected that among the core buildings, the Barracks would be the first to upgrade.

”Yes, Master, ever since the Barracks were established, they have been diligently completing daily tasks, accumulating enough experience. Plus, with ample city resources, it’s only natural that the Barracks upgraded.”

As Fu Gu spoke, Gu Xi had already started inspecting the situation of the Barracks.

[Building Name: Barracks

Level: Level 2 (Upgradeable)

Traits:

Reorganizes up to 10,000 soldiers, ensuring all soldiers enjoy special effects and buffs from the player. (If these reorganized troops fall in battle, they can be rapidly supplemented by other soldiers taking up their weapons and armor)

Simultaneously dispatches five units to complete city missions (missions ranging from Level 1-5).

Can store 5,000 sets of weapons and equipment.

Detects city invasions and attacks two days in advance.

Can dispatch two units for stationing at outdoor resource points.]

Seeing this information, Gu Xi thought to himself: As expected.

The Barracks indeed had upgraded.

At this moment, Gu Xi was also curious: ”Fu Gu, what were the conditions for the Barracks’ upgrade, and why haven’t the other core buildings upgraded?”

”Master, the upgrade conditions for the Barracks are quite simple: complete 50 city conquest missions, and reorganize 5,000 soldiers.

Since the Barracks were established, we have been diligently completing city conquest missions.

Once each mission ends, we immediately assign new personnel to quickly set off, so we’ve already met the standard.

Regarding the 5,000 soldiers, the Undead you arranged to come last night have completed their unit reorganization work, achieving the goal of reorganizing 5,000 soldiers.

Plus, with enough resources, we’ve started upgrading the Barracks since yesterday, and just now, the Barracks completed the upgrade.”

”Well done, let’s go in and have a look.”

Understanding why the Barracks upgraded so quickly, Gu Xi was relieved. He was also quite curious about what a Level 2 Barracks looked like.

Upon this, Fu Gu stepped aside, inviting Gu Xi to enter.

Upon entering the Barracks, Gu Xi noticed that compared to last time, the interior was significantly larger, with many new rooms partitioned out.

Each room had corresponding signboards indicating their functions.

Armory, Data Room, Collection Room, Map Room, Adjutant Room, Strategist Room, Black Spear Camp Barracks, Bone-Slaying Camp Barracks...

As they walked past these rooms, Fu Gu introduced their functions to Gu Xi one by one.

The Armory and Data Room need not be elaborated upon; they are used to store weapons and maintain data on the city’s various troop types.

The Collection Room is for holding achievement rewards or memorabilia from city conquest missions.

However, according to Fu Gu, at least Purple Quality city conquest missions are worth collecting, Blue Quality and below are not.

The Map Room is for drawing maps. It houses the most comprehensive proportional maps of Yalidu City, although these maps cover explored regions. Areas occupied by the enemy or obscured by the Death Curtain are not mapped.

The Adjutant Room can accommodate two adjutants. Adjutant personnel require special Undead and a certain talent.

Of course, with their involvement, Fu Gu could save many tasks, and the details of city conquest missions would be more comprehensive.

The Strategist Room is similar to the Adjutant Room, accommodating two strategists. Strategist personnel also require special Undead and a certain level of Intelligence.

Strategists can research more combat plans; when dispatching units for city conquest missions, they can be more focused.

As for the Black Spear Camp Barracks and Bone-Slaying Camp Barracks, they serve as the garrisons for these two camps, allowing them to contact the Barracks at any time through these rooms.

When assistance from these two units is required, Fu Gu can immediately issue orders to them as long as he’s here.

Explaining these matters, Gu Xi and Fu Gu arrived in the center of the Barracks.

Upon entering here, Gu Xi noticed that the originally flat map had become three-dimensional.

Three different layers of maps could be opened and pieced together at any time. It was clear this was influenced by the Yaliduvi Tower, with the Barracks beginning to plan research on Yalidu City during two different periods.

Simultaneously, Gu Xi also noticed significant changes on the map on this level. Apart from the Main City District becoming more three-dimensional, Gu Xi also found that a part of the Mist District beyond the Magic Plant District had been explored.

The city’s underground Sewer was also clearly marked, even suggesting the Barracks intended to create a separate map of the Sewer.

It seems the Barracks were indeed meticulously handling the maps.

However, Gu Xi soon discovered something different.

”Fu Gu, what is this place?”

”Oh, this is one of the Mysterious Mirror Image nodes that Luna recently secured. Since the Mysterious Mirror Image Space isn’t integrated yet, this area is only considered captured, not an occupiable position, so I can’t send troops to station there.”

Looking at these newly marked glass locations, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask, ”Can Luna’s current situation be seen from this map?”

”This might not be possible.”

”What about after the Mysterious Mirror Image Space is integrated? Will it be considered inside or outside the city?” At this point, Gu Xi raised a question.

For this question, Fu Gu gave it serious thought, ”It might be like the cleaned-up Sewers, considered a subordinate position of the city.”
