Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Thinking Too Small? Su Qinghe’s Choice

It was already 12:30 PM by the time they left the conference room in the administrative building.

”Su Hanhan, you’re really something else!”

Gu Yifan looked at Su Qinghe with a complicated expression and said helplessly, ”No, I had my own reasons for refusing the guaranteed admission. Why did you have to copy me and turn it down too?!”

That’s right!

After Gu Yifan had rejected the guaranteed admission offer, this silly girl, Su Qinghe, had followed his lead and rejected it too!

This left Gu Yifan completely exasperated!

He had refused the offer because that damn system had suddenly popped up and given him a new mission!

And it was a mission he simply couldn’t refuse—or rather, one he didn’t want to.

***

「Back in the conference room.」

Just as Gu Yifan was planning to quietly accept the school’s guaranteed admission and was mulling over which university to choose, the voice of that damn system suddenly echoed in his mind.

”DING~”

”Congratulations, Host, for triggering the main storyline mission: ’Flex on the Masses’.”

”High school is one of the most important stages in life. How can a successful winner in life not leave behind a legend from their high school days? Please choose whether to forfeit the guaranteed admission, participate directly in the gaokao, and become the national top scorer in the science stream with a perfect score in all subjects. Let your name resound throughout the country and become a high school legend!”

”Upon completion of the mission, the Host will be rewarded with 150,000 original shares of Moutai!”

[Note: The original shares can be sold at any time without restriction.]

Hearing the system’s voice, he froze completely.

’Flex on the Masses...’

’Isn’t that just fucking showing off?!’

’But that’s not the point!’

’The point is the 150,000 original shares of Moutai!’

In his past life, there was hardly a single person in the country who hadn’t heard of the famous Moutai stock!

From its IPO until the day Gu Yifan died, the stock had only hit its daily downward trading limit twice in several decades.

A market cap of over two trillion, a legend of the A-share market, the number one bull stock of the A-share market—all these titles were enough to prove how badass it was!

If Gu Yifan remembered correctly, Moutai’s original share capital was 185 million. It officially went public on the A-share market in 2001 with a total of 71.5 million circulating shares issued at a price of 31.39 yuan each. The total share capital that year was only 250 million.

It was now 2013, and the total share capital seemed to be just over 1 billion. But what was the stock price again?

Gu Yifan couldn’t quite remember off the top of his head.

However!

’Without a doubt, no matter what the current stock price is, as long as I get those 150,000 original shares, I’ll freaking make a killing!’

’For one simple reason!’

’The original share price of Moutai was only one yuan!’

’That’s right!’

’You heard me!’

’Just one yuan!’

’And the most important part is that original shares aren’t subject to lock-up periods. I can sell them whenever I want!!!’

”DING~”

”System Friendly Reminder: The current price of Moutai stock is approximately 200 yuan per share. (Note: This is not an integer and has decimal places. The value has been rounded.)”

Just then, the system’s voice rang out again.

”Holy crap!”

”150,000 times 200!”

”That’s... thirty million???”

Gu Yifan was instantly stunned!

’Holy shit!’

’Thirty million!’

’Who could handle this?! Who could possibly refuse?!’

Originally, Gu Yifan had planned to go on a spending spree with his bank card after the gaokao, use up his last cashback opportunity, and then use the cashback money to start a business from scratch in college!

Before, he had always thought that this was the startup capital the system was providing him!

But now!

’The damn thing is just giving me thirty million straight up? I’m supposed to reach the peak of my life right away???’

For an ordinary family, thirty million, if used sparingly, was more than enough to just lie flat and live comfortably for the rest of their lives!

Of course, Gu Yifan wasn’t going to just lie flat. After all, he still wanted to stand at the top of the pyramid and see the view from up there!

’Still, thirty million!’

’That’s enough to fail at starting a business many times over!’

’At least I wouldn’t be like an ordinary person, who could never recover after a single business failure!’

’It’s just like Eldest Young Master Wang. His father had casually tossed him five hundred million to start a business.’

’And the system only gave me thirty million for my startup. Compared to that, it’s nothing!’

’Besides, this reward has conditions, okay!’

’Even though this mission is a piece of cake for the current me, I still have to turn down guaranteed admission and take the gaokao. It’s a lot of extra trouble, isn’t it?’

Gu Yifan thought to himself.

Also, he thought about it and decided that after he got the 150,000 original Moutai shares, he wouldn’t sell them all at once to fund his business.

After all, he understood the wisdom of not putting all your eggs in one basket.

He planned to keep at least a portion of the original shares. Not only were original shares hard to come by, but compared to now, the future price of Moutai would break through 2,600 yuan. Keeping some shares as a safety net would be a form of security!

Gu Yifan suddenly felt that he had been thinking too small all this time.

’But it makes sense when you think about it!’

’I’ve been freaking reborn with a system. If I were like those protagonists in other rebirth novels who get a system that doesn’t give them a single cent, forcing them to miserably struggle to sell boxed lunches or deliver packages to start a business, then what’s the damn point of even having a system?!’

”DING~”

”Please make a choice, Host!”

The system’s voice rang out again.

’Like hell I need to choose?!’

’System, I choose to give up the guaranteed admission!’

He made his decision in his heart right then and there.

And so, the earlier scene had unfolded.

***

Seeing Gu Yifan suddenly go quiet, Su Qinghe thought he might have been angered to death. She tiptoed and reached out a small hand to check if he was still breathing under his nose.

”Hm?”

Noticing Su Qinghe’s little movement, Gu Yifan snapped out of his thoughts.

Su Qinghe quickly retracted her hand like a startled bunny, lowering her head and not daring to speak, like a child who had done something wrong.

Seeing her silent, Gu Yifan grew even more irritated.

”Don’t worry, I’m not dead yet!”

Seeing her like this, Gu Yifan was so exasperated he had to laugh.

SWISH~

Su Qinghe’s face flushed slightly, and for a moment, she didn’t dare to look at Gu Yifan at all.

”What’s wrong with you? Why didn’t you take the guaranteed admission?!”

”It’s better to be safe than sorry. Haven’t you ever thought about what you’d do if, by some chance, you messed up the gaokao?!”

”You little fool, you’re going to be the death of me!”

Gu Yifan said, utterly helpless.

Seeing that Gu Yifan was still angry, Su Qinghe said in a small voice, ”I... I won’t. Besides you, other people... I’m not afraid of them.”

”Sigh~”

Looking at her earnest and silly expression, Gu Yifan sighed helplessly.

At this point, there was nothing he could say to change it.

’But really, I don’t need to be too worried. With Su Qinghe’s current grades, as long as nothing unexpected happens, the gaokao will be a walk in the park for her.’

’Besides!’

’So what if she bombs the exam?!’

’I’m here!’

’Damn it, even if Su Qinghe did nothing for the rest of her life, I could still support her!’

’So there’s even less to worry about!’

’It’s just that I don’t want Su Qinghe to have any regrets about her high school years.’

Seeing Gu Yifan sigh with a helpless look on his face, Su Qinghe reached out a small hand and gently tugged on his sleeve. In a small, weak voice, she said, almost like she was whining, ”I won’t mess up. Please don’t be angry, okay?”

”Alright, alright, I know you’re just the pest!”

”Honestly!”

Gu Yifan shot her a glare and said irritably.

”It’s... ’best’...”

Seeing that Gu Yifan had used the wrong word, Su Qinghe glanced at him and said quietly.

Gu Yifan: ”...”

”Alright!”

”Let’s just drop it. Time to eat!”

he said with a sigh.

Suddenly, he thought of something and spoke again, ”Right, classes are suspended starting the day after tomorrow. From today on, you’re moving into my house. You’ll eat what I eat, and you can’t eat anything else. Other than using the bathroom and sleeping, you are not to leave my sight!”

”Otherwise, if some accident really happens, like you get an upset stomach or something, and you bomb the gaokao while I pass, then you can just come back and repeat the year by yourself!”

Su Qinghe: ”...-_-||”
