Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Su Qinghe’s Playful Side? Rejecting Guaranteed Admission

RING-RING—RING-RING—

As the school bell rang, Gu Yifan, who had been sleeping with his head on his desk, felt a tickle on his nose.

”Ngh?”

He slowly opened his eyes to see Su Qinghe looking at him, her face flushed red. With her hands behind her back, she looked just like a little kid who had done something wrong.

”Hm?”

Gu Yifan paused, surprised. ”Hanhan, what are you doing here?”

Her pretty face beet red, Su Qinghe explained in a small voice, ”The... The Director of Academic Affairs told me to go to his office. Then I heard a teacher say you were being called too, so I came over.”

”Oh, okay.”

Gu Yifan nodded. ”Then let’s go!”

”Mhm.”

She nodded and followed Gu Yifan out of the classroom.

Just as she thought Gu Yifan hadn’t noticed what she did and was breathing a secret sigh of relief...

Gu Yifan suddenly leaned in and whispered in her ear, ”About you tickling my nose just now... I’ll get you back for that tonight!”

WHOOSH~

Su Qinghe froze. A blush once again colored her exquisite, beautiful face, and even the skin of her neck turned a light shade of pink.

’So he knew!’

’I’m done for!’

’This Big Bully is going to torment me again...’

「Office Building, Third Floor, Room 305, Office of the Director of Academic Affairs.」

Inside, besides Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe, were a few students from other classes, as well as several homeroom teachers.

The small office was packed with people.

”Ahem... is everyone here?”

Chen Xiangdong, the Director of Academic Affairs, glanced at the crowd and spoke slowly.

”Director Chen, everyone’s here,” a male teacher who was bald on top replied.

”Good. It’s a little crowded in here. Let’s move this to the conference room!” Chen Xiangdong said.

With that, he led the group upstairs toward the conference room.

”Teacher Ye, what’s going on?”

Walking at the back with Su Qinghe, Gu Yifan quietly asked his homeroom teacher, Ye Xiangying.

”It’s about the university recommendations. You’ll find out in a bit.”

Ye Xiangying glanced at the group ahead before replying in a low voice.

”Oh, okay.”

Gu Yifan understood immediately.

...

「A few minutes later.」

Inside the conference room, everyone sat down, each student next to their own homeroom teacher.

”Ahem~”

Once everyone was seated, Director Chen Xiangdong cleared his throat and addressed the room. ”Ahem... Teachers, students. The reason I’ve called you all here today is to discuss the list for this year’s university recommendations.”

Gu Yifan had been secretly observing everyone. When the director finished speaking, he noticed no one’s expression changed. It seemed that, aside from himself and Su Qinghe, everyone else had probably been told about this in advance.

Thinking this, Gu Yifan couldn’t help but shoot a glance at his homeroom teacher, Ye Xiangying.

’Looks like this old lady isn’t very reliable!’

In reality, he was misjudging Ye Xiangying.

The reason Ye Xiangying hadn’t mentioned it to Gu Yifan was because his recommendation was already a sure thing!

Perfect scores in every subject on three consecutive mock exams—unless the school’s leadership was completely blind, how could Gu Yifan not be on the recommendation list?

The same was true for Su Qinghe.

She had been number one in their grade from her first year of high school all the way to her third, a streak only broken by the appearance of Gu Yifan. How could someone like her not be on the list?

Therefore, her homeroom teacher hadn’t mentioned it to her either.

”Ahem... every year, our school receives recommendation spots for several top universities in the country. I’m sure you all are aware of this.”

”This year is no exception. We currently have eight recommendation spots, but there are ten students here today.”

After Chen Xiangdong finished speaking, everyone in the room looked at each other in confusion.

’Eight spots, ten people. Does that mean two of us won’t get recommended?’

’Then why the heck did they call the two who aren’t getting a spot?’

’Isn’t that completely pointless and redundant?’

Many of them grumbled silently.

”Ahem... Everyone, please calm down.”

”The reason I’ve asked all ten of you to come is that for two students, Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe, we’ve received notices from Qingbei and other top universities offering them both exam-free admission and a full waiver for four years of tuition and fees. Therefore, they do not take up any of the recommendation spots.”

Chen Xiangdong explained slowly to the room.

WHOA~

The moment he finished, all eyes in the room involuntarily turned to Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe!

There were looks of shock, envy, and admiration... In short, it was complicated!

But it made sense!

One had achieved a perfect score, ranking first in the entire grade, while the other had dominated the top spot since the first year of high school. If the others were considered academic aces, then Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe were on the level of an Academic God.

So, it wasn’t strange that Qingbei would offer them such terms.

But Gu Yifan was a little surprised. After all, this whole recommendation business was something he’d never had the chance to encounter in his previous life, so he didn’t know much about it.

The same went for this Hanhan, Su Qinghe.

Forget recommendations—in her past life, she hadn’t even survived. As for this life, she spent all her time either studying or with Gu Yifan. If he didn’t know about it, she was even more clueless!

For a moment, she was unsure what to do and subconsciously wanted to ask for Gu Yifan’s opinion.

But they were sitting quite far apart, making it difficult for her to ask.

As for pulling out her phone to send a message, that was even more out of the question.

After all, using your phone in a setting like this would be disrespectful.

As if sensing her anxiety, Gu Yifan shot her a reassuring glance.

Receiving his look, Su Qinghe finally relaxed.

”Ahem... you can all go back and think this over carefully. Discuss it with your families and decide which university’s recommendation you want to accept.”

”Alright, if there are no other questions, you can each take a recommendation form to fill out and give us your answer by tomorrow. The school will then arrange for everyone to visit their respective universities for the recommendation assessment. The final results will be out before the college entrance exams, so it won’t affect your ability to take them.”

”If there’s anything else you don’t understand, you can ask your respective homeroom teachers.”

”Okay, that’s all for today. Sorry for taking up your lunch break. Let’s dismi—”

Director Chen Xiangdong finished speaking, and seeing the time, he was about to dismiss the meeting and head to the staff cafeteria for lunch.

But before he could finish his sentence, Gu Yifan suddenly raised his hand. ”Director, I have something to say.”

”Er...”

Chen Xiangdong froze. He was about to put on a stern face but stopped when he saw it was Gu Yifan who had spoken. His half-stern expression instantly returned to normal, and he even managed to squeeze out a small smile. ”Oh, it’s you, Student Gu Yifan. What is it you’d like to say?”

”Hehehe...”

Everyone’s gazes turned to Gu Yifan.

Under the confused stares of the crowd, Gu Yifan spoke slowly, ”Director Chen, can I choose not to be recommended?”

Everyone: ”...”
