Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: A Chance Encounter with Han Ning! Wu Xiaoyan: A Melodramatic Love Triangle?

Gu Yifan whipped his head around. Seeing the soft, pink lips right in front of him, he froze for a moment.

Looking again, he saw that Su Qinghe’s face was already as red as a ripe tomato.

”Your cheeks are like ripe tomatoes in a field... but right now I just want to kiss your stubborn lips...”

The melody of the song echoed endlessly in Gu Yifan’s mind.

”You... can you let me go?”

Noticing Gu Yifan’s strange behavior, Su Qinghe, her face flushed and looking like she was about to cry, said timidly.

”Uh...”

Hearing her voice, Gu Yifan finally snapped back to his senses.

”Ahem.”

”Um... I was just trying to close the car door, that’s all. I didn’t mean anything else.”

Gu Yifan faked a couple of coughs, sounding a little awkward.

”Mm-hmm.”

Su Qinghe nodded, her face still red, but didn’t say anything more.

”So... it’s getting late, and I’m hungry. Let’s go get some breakfast!”

Gu Yifan said, hastily changing the subject.

Without looking at Su Qinghe again, he started the car and drove toward the street opposite the school gate.

......

Just as Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe were sitting at a roadside noodle stall eating,

Han Ning and her deskmate-slash-best-friend, Wu Xiaoyan, were waiting for the light at the crosswalk on the other side of the street, talking and laughing.

Suddenly, Wu Xiaoyan spotted Gu Yifan. She tapped Han Ning beside her and said, ”Hey, Xiaoning’er, is that Gu Yifan over there?”

Following her friend’s finger, Han Ning saw the exact moment Gu Yifan was placing some meat into Su Qinghe’s bowl.

She froze for a second, and then her expression instantly darkened.

Wu Xiaoyan didn’t notice the change in Han Ning’s expression and continued talking, almost to herself. ”It really does look like him. Is that girl next to him the ’pauper school beauty,’ Su Qinghe? Hey, Xiaoning’er, should we go over and say hi?”

”No!”

”If you want to go, go by yourself!”

Han Ning said in a cold tone.

”Huh?”

It was only then that Wu Xiaoyan sensed something was off with Han Ning.

She suddenly remembered that Gu Yifan hadn’t come looking for Han Ning at all recently. Before, Gu Yifan had practically wanted to be stuck to Han Ning’s side every second of the day.

She had originally thought they were just having a little spat because of the confession incident last time.

Plus, with the college entrance exams coming up, everyone was busy studying. It was normal for Gu Yifan not to be hovering around every day like before, so she hadn’t paid it much mind.

’But judging by Han Ning’s attitude now, it seems like they’re still fighting?’

Suddenly, she also recalled the gossip that seemed to be circulating around their grade recently—that Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe were together.

She had scoffed at the rumor before. After all, others might not know how deep the feelings between Gu Yifan and Han Ning were, but she knew perfectly well!

’But, given the current situation, it seems there really is a story here!’

’That’s right!’

She suddenly remembered over a month ago in the park, when Han Ning had tearfully told her that Gu Yifan didn’t want her anymore.

At the time, she’d just assumed Han Ning was angry and spouting nonsense, so she hadn’t taken it seriously.

’This...’

’Could it be? Did Gu Yifan’s feelings really shift? Did he stop liking Han Ning and get together with Su Qinghe?’

’Holy crap!’

’Is this... he likes her, but she likes him, and the other she likes him too?! A total cliché love triangle?!’

In an instant, a melodramatic love-triangle idol drama started playing out in Wu Xiaoyan’s head.

She turned and stole a glance at Han Ning, her eyes filled with a complicated mix of emotions.

’That’s not right!’

’This shouldn’t be happening!’

’Knowing Han Ning’s personality, if this were really the case, there’s no way she wouldn’t have told me!’

’But why didn’t that girl Han Ning say anything to me about this?’

’Could there be some kind of unmentionable secret involved?’

’Is that why she didn’t tell me?’

Wu Xiaoyan’s thoughts ran wild.

Just then, she suddenly realized the green light had turned on at some point, and there were less than 10 seconds left to cross!

”Ah, the light is green!”

”Xiaoning’er, let’s hurry!”

With no time to think further, Wu Xiaoyan tugged on Han Ning’s hand.

”I’ve suddenly lost my appetite. I’m heading back to the classroom.”

Han Ning turned to Wu Xiaoyan, said her piece, and then turned back around and started walking into the school on her own.

”Uh...”

Wu Xiaoyan was completely dumbfounded.

”What the...”

Staring at Han Ning’s retreating back, she stood frozen on the spot.

She glanced over at Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe not far away, then turned to look back at Han Ning’s retreating figure.

”Looks like this is even more complicated than I thought...”

Wu Xiaoyan muttered to herself.

Then she turned and chased after Han Ning. ”Hey, Xiaoning’er, wait for me...”

......

Meanwhile, Gu Yifan had finished eating.

As he stood up to get a napkin, he happened to see Wu Xiaoyan chasing after Han Ning.

He paused for a moment but didn’t think much of it.

”Here, wipe your mouth.”

Gu Yifan said, handing the napkin to Su Qinghe.

”Mm-hmm... Thank you.”

Su Qinghe took the napkin and thanked him in a quiet voice.

A little while later, Su Qinghe also finished her noodles.

Then the two of them got up, paid the bill, and left.

As for the car, Gu Yifan had already found a parking lot for it earlier, so they could just walk now.

......

When Gu Yifan got back to the classroom, it was already 6:50 in the morning.

There were less than 10 minutes left before the morning reading session.

By this time, the classroom was almost full.

’Makes sense!’

Even a guy as lazy as hell as Wang Zibo had shown up, which basically meant everyone in the class was there.

”Brother Fan, morning!”

”Heh heh...”

Gu Yifan had just sat down when that guy Wang Zibo turned around and grinned at him.

”Uh...”

”What’s with the shit-eating grin, you dog? Did you find money on the way to school or something?”

Gu Yifan shot him a look and said casually.

”Hm?”

Wang Zibo’s eyes suddenly went wide!

”Holy crap!”

”Brother Fan, how did you know?!?!”

he asked, looking at Gu Yifan with a shocked expression.

Gu Yifan: ”...”

’I was just bullshitting, for fuck’s sake!’

Gu Yifan was speechless. ’Has my mouth been blessed today or something?’

he thought to himself.

”Brother Fan, I won’t lie to you, on my way to school just now I really did find five yuan on the curb!”

”Heh heh...”

Wang Zibo leaned in close to Gu Yifan’s ear and whispered with a sly look on his face.

Immediately after, he started to tell Gu Yifan the story with great exaggeration, ”Brother Fan, let me tell you, I wasn’t the only one who saw the five yuan, there was also this...”

”Stop, stop, stop...!!”

Listening to him buzzing in his ear like a fly, Gu Yifan hastily cut him off.

”Huh...”

Wang Zibo froze, looking confused.

SLAP!

As Wang Zibo watched in confusion, Gu Yifan pulled out 10 yuan and slapped it on the desk.

”Damn it, anyone who didn’t know better would think you found a few million!”

”Here’s 10 yuan. Take it and stop bothering me!”

Wang Zibo: ”...-_-||”
