Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Wang Zibo: Godfather, Save Me

’In this life, I’m done being a simp!’

’Someone else can have that job!’

Gu Yifan thought, shaking his head.

”DING-A-LING—DING-A-LING—”

The school bell rang, signaling the start of the afternoon classes.

Just like in the morning, the teacher was still going over the exam paper during English class.

But Gu Yifan didn’t listen at all. That damn system, which hadn’t appeared for a long time, had shown up again and given him a new mission.

”DING~”

”Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission to make a ’who’s number one’ bet with the treasure girl, Su Qinghe, and shattering her long-standing, undefeated record as the grade’s top student with a perfect score in the sciences!”

”DING~”

”The ’Professional-Level Singing Skill’ and ’Tear-Proof Black Stockings’ rewards are now being distributed...”

[Note 1: The Professional-Level Singing Skill will be delivered via memory transfer and various physical enhancements, instantly granting the Host the singing ability equivalent to a professional.]

[Note 2: The Tear-Proof Black Stockings are made from Heavenly Silkworm Silk. In addition to being more aesthetically pleasing than ordinary black stockings, they are warm in winter and cool in summer. Most importantly, the special material is completely tear-proof!]

...

As the system’s voice faded in his mind, Gu Yifan felt his head instantly fill with a great deal of music theory. In that same moment, his throat suddenly felt itchy, and he had an intense urge to burst into song!

Thankfully, he managed to suppress the urge. If he had actually done it, it wouldn’t matter if he’d gotten a perfect score—he’d fucking die of social embarrassment!

’Hmm... I should find some time to take that Hanhan, Su Qinghe, to a karaoke bar and show off for her!’

Gu Yifan himself hadn’t even noticed that, at some point, whenever he thought about doing anything, the first person who came to mind had gradually shifted from Han Ning to Su Qinghe.

At the same time, a beautifully wrapped gift box suddenly appeared in his desk drawer.

’I didn’t even have to guess. It had to be those damn Tear-Proof Black Stockings!’

Gu Yifan was speechless. ’It’s just a pair of black stockings, for fuck’s sake! Why is the box so exquisite? You’d think they were some kind of treasure!’

When no one was looking, he reached out, opened the box, and took a peek. On the surface, the stockings from the system didn’t look any different from a normal pair.

But when he touched them, they felt soft, smooth, and cool in his hand.

Oho!

Gu Yifan’s eyes lit up slightly!

A bold idea suddenly flashed through his mind!

’If I could get Su Qinghe to wear these black stockings, and then...’

’Hmm... a world of ice and fire???’

’Holy shit!’

’Totally doable!’

At this thought, Gu Yifan couldn’t help but let the corners of his mouth curl up slightly.

System: ”...”

...

At 5:45 PM, the noisy ringing of the bell marked the end of the day’s classes.

”Brother Fan, we have tomorrow off! Wanna go to the internet cafe and play some games?”

”I just learned a new special move yesterday. You can give me some pointers!”

Wang Zibo said excitedly, turning his head to Gu Yifan.

Gu Yifan was packing his things. Seeing Wang Zibo’s excited expression, he glanced at him and said, ”Play games?”

”Yeah!”

”It’s not often we get a day off. Shouldn’t we take the chance to relax?”

Wang Zibo nodded, saying it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

”Heh~”

”I suggest you first think hard about how you’re going to face the mixed-doubles beating from your parents when you get home!”

Gu Yifan said coolly, looking at him.

”Uh (⊙o⊙)...”

The smile on Wang Zibo’s face froze instantly.

It was true!

On this city-wide mock exam, although his Chinese score had improved, he had bombed the science composite test!

His score was still around 400, barely scraping the threshold for a third-tier university.

The difficulty of this city-wide mock exam was comparable to the Gaokao, so basically all the parents were paying close attention to the results. Wang Zibo’s parents were, naturally, no exception.

”So, still want to play games?”

Gu Yifan looked at him with a teasing expression.

”Well...”

”Play? The hell I will!”

”I’ll probably be bedridden tomorrow!”

Wang Zibo said, his face a mask of misery.

”Let’s go. Time to go home and eat!”

Gu Yifan said with a slight smile.

”Uh...”

The moment Wang Zibo imagined being strung up and getting a mixed-doubles beating from his parents, he couldn’t help but tremble.

”No way! Um... Brother Fan, can I stay at your place tonight?”

He said after a moment’s thought, his chubby face scrunched in misery.

”Hm?”

”Jibo, are you serious?”

”It’s just a few steps away. You think your parents won’t come over and drag you back?”

Hearing this, Gu Yifan glanced at him, speechless.

”This...”

For a moment, Wang Zibo was actually unable to come up with a rebuttal.

”Come on. You can run, but you can’t hide.”

”Just go home first and see. Maybe your mom’s in a good mood today and won’t beat you!”

Gu Yifan said casually.

”How is that even possible!”

”You know what my mom’s temper is like!”

”Especially if she finds out you got first place in the whole city. She’ll probably beat me even harder!”

Wang Zibo’s chubby face fell as he spoke helplessly.

”Uh...”

Hearing that, Gu Yifan thought, ’He probably has a point.’

Given Wang Zibo’s mom’s personality, he most likely wouldn’t be able to escape this beating.

”Jibo, I can only wish you good luck!”

Gu Yifan said, patting his shoulder.

With that said, he slung his backpack on and prepared to leave.

Wang Zibo: ”...”

”Brother Fan, you can’t just leave me to die!”

He threw himself around Gu Yifan’s thigh and cried, ”You have to help a brother out! Save me, bro!”

Gu Yifan froze.

”Get off!”

”How am I supposed to help with this?”

”Take the beating for you?”

”What, am I crazy?!”

He said, completely exasperated.

”Don’t be like that!”

”Brother Fan, bro, big bro, godfather! You can’t just leave me to die!”

”I know you have a way!”

Wang Zibo blurted out in desperation, his hands tightening their grip on Gu Yifan’s thigh!

Gu Yifan: ”... -_-||”

”Alright, alright, alright! I’ll help, I’ll help!”

”But!”

”Fucking Jibo, can you let go of me first, you bastard? You’re about to pull my pants clean off!”

He looked down at Wang Zibo, who was still clinging to his thigh, and said with a dark expression.

”Ahem~”

”Brother Fan, sorry about that. I didn’t mean to.”

”Hehehe...”

Wang Zibo quickly let go of Gu Yifan’s thigh, scratching the back of his head and speaking sheepishly.

”Get lost!”

”And don’t touch me!”

Seeing his shameless expression, Gu Yifan felt a surge of exasperation.

”Alrighty~”

”But, Brother Fan, you promised! You gotta help a brother out!”

”Hehehe...”

Wang Zibo didn’t get angry. He just grinned obsequiously.

”What are you grinning at!”

”You damn Jibo, I swear I’m no match for you!”

Gu Yifan said with a wry smile, ”Hmm... helping you out isn’t out of the question!”

”But, Jibo, you have to remember: your bro can only give you a hand this one time. For the rest of the... hard stuff... you’re on your own!”

Wang Zibo: ”?????”
