Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Su Qinghe: Don’t be mean to me anymore, okay...?

5:00 AM, sharp.

Gu Yifan drove to the Dongba Street Xingfu District, and in the distance, he saw Su Qinghe’s lonely figure under a dim, yellow streetlight.

He couldn’t help but frown, stepping on the gas. The car quickly pulled to a stop in front of Su Qinghe.

The window rolled down, revealing Gu Yifan’s handsome face.

Su Qinghe’s eyes lit up. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Gu Yifan say in a somewhat angry tone, ”Didn’t I tell you to wait for me upstairs?!”

”Uh...”

Su Qinghe was so taken aback by his angry tone that she didn’t know how to react.

”Get in!” he said impatiently, seeing her standing there in a daze.

”Oh, oh~”

At his words, Su Qinghe snapped out of it. She didn’t dare to say a word as she quietly opened the car door and got in.

”Do you have any idea what time it is?”

”Don’t you know how dangerous it is for you to be out here all by yourself!?”

”I told you to wait for me upstairs like a good girl, so why did you have to come out by yourself?!”

”If something happened to you, what would I do?!”

Su Qinghe hadn’t even settled into her seat before Gu Yifan unleashed a torrent of scolding on her.

HUFF... HUFF... HUFF...

Gu Yifan was about to explode with anger!

’I told her beforehand not to come out, to just wait upstairs, but she still had to come out!’

’Doesn’t she know how dangerous it is for a girl to be out alone so late at night!’

’Especially in the alleys of an old residential district like this. If she ran into a bad person, she could scream her lungs out and no one would come to help!’

’Seriously!’

Su Qinghe: ”...”

Although Gu Yifan’s tone wasn’t very nice, she wasn’t angry.

She knew he was just worried about her.

”I... I’m sorry.”

Seeing how angry Gu Yifan was, she reached out, tugged on his sleeve, and said softly, almost timidly, ”I just didn’t want to make you wait too long. I’m sorry. Please don’t be angry, and don’t be so harsh with me, okay...?”

Gu Yifan turned to glance at her. Seeing her flushed little face and her pitiful, gentle expression, his heart instantly softened, and more than half of his anger vanished.

”Don’t do this again, you hear me?” he said, looking helpless and still a bit grumpy.

”I... I know,” Su Qinghe answered in a small voice.

”Hey, I was so harsh with you just now. You’re not mad?” Gu Yifan had a sudden thought and asked.

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe froze for a moment.

”No... not at all.”

She turned to look at Gu Yifan, shook her head gently, and said with a serious expression, ”I know you were worried. I’m not mad.”

”Er...”

Seeing the serious look on her little face, Gu Yifan didn’t know what to say.

”You’re such a Hanhan!” he said, exasperated.

”I’m not Hanhan,” Su Qinghe pouted and retorted softly.

”Hah!”

However, Gu Yifan just grunted and didn’t say anything more to her.

He started the car and drove off.

...

Time passed quickly.

In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed since the day Gu Yifan accompanied Su Qinghe to her part-time job.

During this past month, besides his routine classes, Gu Yifan spent almost all of his remaining time with Su Qinghe.

Life was simple and pleasant.

Strangely enough, ever since that night Han Ning ran out of his house crying, he didn’t know what Ye Wanqing had said to her, but in any case, she never came to bother Gu Yifan again!

Gu Yifan was happy to be left in peace, glad he no longer had to worry about the trouble Han Ning caused.

’Good!’

’After the college entrance exams, we’ll all go our separate ways anyway. So be it!’

...

May 30, 2013. Thursday. Clear skies.

days until the college entrance exams!

On the blackboard at the front of the classroom, the big red characters, written in chalk to mark the time, had been erased and rewritten again and again.

It was a constant reminder to everyone that time was running out.

An atmosphere of tension and pressure filled every senior-year classroom.

All the senior-year ”dogs,” apart from eating, sleeping, and going to the bathroom, were practically glued to their seats.

...

”Brother Fan, how do you solve this problem?”

”I’ve been working on it for ages, but my answer just doesn’t match the key!”

Just as Gu Yifan was spacing out while looking at the scenery outside the window, Wang Zibo, who sat in front of him, suddenly turned around holding a test paper and asked.

”Hm?”

His train of thought broken, Gu Yifan snapped back to reality and glanced at Wang Zibo.

He was amused to see the boy’s face flushed red with frustration, looking like he was tearing his hair out.

”Let me see it,” he said nonchalantly.

With just a single glance, Gu Yifan saw the problem.

He looked up at Wang Zibo and said, ”You’re not wrong. The answer key is wrong!”

”Huh?”

Wang Zibo was stunned.

”That can’t be right. Isn’t this the official answer key that came with the test?” he scratched his head, sounding suspicious.

”Believe it or not. If you don’t, then forget it!” Gu Yifan said, rolling his eyes.

”Hey, no, I believe you, Brother Fan! I believe you!” Wang Zibo quickly added, ”It’s just... for the official answer key to be wrong, isn’t that a total rip-off?!”

”Isn’t that pretty normal?”

”The answer key was made by people too. With so many materials and test papers being printed, it’s not strange for there to be mistakes!” Gu Yifan explained casually.

”That’s true!”

Wang Zibo thought that made a lot of sense.

But he was still annoyed with the people who printed the test paper!

”Damn it! Son of a bitch, wasted over an hour of my time!” he cursed, test paper in hand.

Seeing him like this, Gu Yifan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”Alright, Zibo, it’s not like they did it on purpose. Besides, they can’t hear you cursing, so why waste your breath?”

”Sigh!”

”Even if that’s true, I’m still pissed off!”

”These people who print the tests are just too irresponsible!” Wang Zibo said indignantly.

Hearing this, Gu Yifan just shook his head helplessly and didn’t bother responding.

He turned his head back to continue looking at the scenery.

Wang Zibo watched Gu Yifan sleeping in class, spacing out after class, and gazing at the scenery—so effortlessly cool that he didn’t even need to study or review—and was extremely envious!

But he was also self-aware.

’Can’t be helped!’

’Who could blame him? That guy Gu Yifan had placed first with perfect scores in all subjects on the last three mock exams!’

’If nothing unexpected happened, this year’s top scorer in the college entrance exams would be none other than Gu Yifan!’

’Right now, the entire school leadership was practically worshiping him like the God of Wealth!’

’Whatever he wanted to do, they would grant his every request!’

’Forget sleeping in class—even if he took a shit during a lecture, they’d probably just smile and bear it!’

’There was no other reason!’

’It was simply because Gu Yifan represented the political achievements they were about to secure!’

Sigh~

’Comparing yourself to others is enough to drive you crazy!’

’Who knew how many people envied Gu Yifan!’

However, Wang Zibo was pretty philosophical about it!

’Who was Gu Yifan?’

’His brother!’

’Gu Yifan = Wang Zibo, and Gu Yifan = future top scorer of the college entrance exams!’

’Therefore!’

’Future top scorer of the college entrance exams = Wang Zibo!’

’Nothing wrong with that logic!’

’My man!’
