Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 82: Chapter 82: So You Do Have a Conscience, Kid. Dad Didn’t Dote on You for Nothing

In a parking lot near the entrance of Mountain City First Middle School.

”Brother Fan, what are we doing here?”

Wang Zibo asked in confusion, looking at Gu Yifan, who was walking beside him holding Su Qinghe’s hand.

”We’re getting the car!”

”What else would we be doing?”

Gu Yifan shot him an irritated glance.

”Getting the car?”

”Brother Fan, did you ride your electric scooter here today?”

”But there are three of us. We can’t all fit on an electric scooter!”

Wang Zibo said, pausing for a moment.

Gu Yifan shot him a glance, not bothering to explain.

As Wang Zibo watched in confusion, Gu Yifan walked straight up to his Mercedes G-Wagen and unlocked it.

”HOLY SHIT!!!”

Watching the scene unfold, Wang Zibo’s eyes instantly went wide as saucers.

He scrambled over to Gu Yifan and said in disbelief, ”A... A G-Wagen??”

”Look at you, so unworldly!”

Gu Yifan said with a disdainful glance, then turned to Su Qinghe. ”Hanhan, get in!”

”Oh, okay~”

Su Qinghe nodded obediently, then expertly opened the passenger door and got in.

”This...”

Wang Zibo’s jaw went slack, and he stood frozen on the spot.

After casually buckling Su Qinghe’s seatbelt for her, Gu Yifan rolled down the window and yelled at the still-dazed Wang Zibo, ”Hey, you getting in or not? If not, I’m leaving without you!”

”Huh?”

The sound finally snapped Wang Zibo out of his stupor. He hurriedly pulled open a back door and scrambled inside.

”Seriously, Brother Fan, where did this car come from?”

”And when did you get your driver’s license?”

”I...”

Once inside the car, Wang Zibo fired off a barrage of questions, his face a mask of confusion.

”Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold it!”

Seeing that he was about to launch into a full-blown interrogation, Gu Yifan quickly cut him off.

”Uh...”

His ”spell-casting” interrupted, Wang Zibo forced himself to swallow the words already at the tip of his tongue.

”I’m only saying this once, so don’t ask about anything else. If you ask, the answer is ’I don’t know’.”

”The car? I bought it with money I earned myself.”

”I’ve always known how to drive, I just wasn’t old enough to take the test, you know that! As for the license, I got it a little while ago.”

”And one more thing. My parents don’t know about this car. I’ll tell them eventually, but you’d better not let it slip!”

Gu Yifan said quickly, all in one breath.

Wang Zibo: ”...”

After hearing Gu Yifan’s explanation, he was momentarily speechless.

Gu Yifan saw he was stunned. He shot him a glance, not bothering with him, and simply started the car.

”VROOM~!!”

Amid the roar of the engine, the car slowly pulled out of the parking lot.

As he watched Gu Yifan drive like a seasoned pro, Wang Zibo’s eyes filled with envy, though a faint flicker of worry also flashed across his face.

Seeing him hesitate over and over in the rearview mirror, Gu Yifan said irritably, ”Hey, Dickwad, if you have something to say, spit it out. Stop hemming and hawing like a little bitch. You’re so nervous, anyone would think you were waiting to get a happy ending!”

”Uh...”

Called out on his worries, Wang Zibo looked extremely awkward!

”Brother Fan, this car must have cost a few million, right?”

After a moment’s hesitation, he asked, ”You... you didn’t do anything illegal, did you?”

Gu Yifan: ”...”

”Illegal my ass!”

”No!”

”I already told you, I bought it with my own money!”

”As for how exactly I earned it, I’ll tell you later!”

Gu Yifan glared at him in the rearview mirror and snapped.

’But even though I’m snapping at him, I’m actually very touched.’

’This damn dickwad... He actually knows how to worry about me. Guess you do have a conscience, you little punk. This daddy didn’t spoil you for nothing!’

Gu Yifan thought to himself.

”Oh, okay.”

Hearing Gu Yifan’s definitive answer, Wang Zibo finally relaxed.

You might ask, did he really believe Gu Yifan that easily?

Of course he did!

They had grown up together. He knew what kind of person Gu Yifan was better than anyone.

If he said he didn’t break the law, then he didn’t.

That was beyond question!

And so, Wang Zibo was back to his usual sleazy self.

”Brother Fan, after the college entrance exams, I’m gonna get my license too. When I do, let me borrow the car for a couple of days, huh?”

He said with a broad grin to a driving Gu Yifan, after looking and touching all over the car’s interior.

”Sure, whatever. Get your license first.”

Gu Yifan replied casually.

”Alrighty~”

”We have a deal, then! No backing out!”

”You just watch, I’ll have my license in two weeks! Heh heh!”

Wang Zibo rubbed his hands together and threw a confident punch in the air.

”Hah~”

Seeing his confident expression, Gu Yifan just scoffed.

’Others might not have known, but Gu Yifan remembered it all too clearly.’

’In his previous life, this dumbass Zibo had failed the skills portion of the driving test a full eight times. Then, he failed the road test another six times. From the day he signed up to the day he finally got his license, it took him a grand total of two and a half years!’

’Damn it!’

’The worst part was, the dumbass was so traumatized by failing over and over that after he finally got his license, he was too damn scared to actually drive!’

’So as for all his talk about getting his license right after the college entrance exams, I couldn’t even be bothered to respond.’

...

It was the evening rush hour, with people getting off work and students leaving school, so traffic near the school entrance was backed up.

”Hey, Zibo, did you tell your mom we were coming over for dinner?”

Gu Yifan asked, turning to Wang Zibo while they were stopped at a red light.

”Don’t worry, I told her!”

”But, Brother Fan, you’ve got to put in a good word for me later!”

”Otherwise, my mom is seriously going to beat me!”

Wang Zibo said, his face a mask of misery.

”Alright, alright, I get it.”

”Later, just follow my lead. Don’t worry.”

Gu Yifan said dismissively with a wave of his hand.

”Okay, okay!”

Wang Zibo nodded, but for some reason, he still felt a sense of panic.

「6:30 p.m.」

Gu Yifan, Su Qinghe, and Wang Zibo finally arrived back at the underground parking garage of the residential district.

After parking the car, the three of them went upstairs.

「Cuihu District, Phase Three, Building 19, Apartment 1510.」

”What are you waiting for? Open the door!”

Gu Yifan said irritably, seeing Wang Zibo just standing there in a daze.

”But...”

”Brother Fan, let me mentally prepare myself first!”

Wang Zibo said with a pained expression.

”SMACK~”

Gu Yifan smacked him upside the head and snapped, ”Prepare my ass! Hurry up and open the door! I’m dying of thirst here!”

”Okay, okay~”

With a look of resignation, Wang Zibo took a deep breath. Full of trepidation, he took out his key, opened the front door, and called out, ”Mom, I’m home~”

However, the only thing that answered him was a long feather duster...

...
