Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Resolving the Scandal in a Single Sentence

The moment the head of security finished speaking, an uproar swept through the crowd.

No one had expected a conspiracy to be lurking behind Divine Doctor Ye’s conflict with the security guards.

In an instant, all the onlookers were furious!

”Where is Luo Qiwei? That bastard! How dare he bully Divine Doctor Ye.”

”Zuo You, if you don’t make Luo Qiwei come out and apologize to Divine Doctor Ye in public, none of us will buy a house from your family.”

”I’m going to post this online so the whole country can see the Zuo Family’s ugly truth.”

The crowd was incensed, their indignation palpable, and it was clear the situation was escalating rapidly.

A vicious plan suddenly formed in the minds of Luo Qiwei and Dragon Hollyhock. Once Ye Xiu gave the USB drive to Zuo You, Dragon Hollyhock would certainly be kicked out of the Zuo Family, and Luo Qiwei would lose any claim to the family’s inheritance. If that was going to happen, then they might as well knock over the dog’s food bowl so no one could eat. By using Ye Xiu’s national influence, they could blow this whole incident out of proportion. ’Luo Qiwei, a Young Master of the Zuo Family, Orders Security to Assault the Divine Doctor.’ Once a headline like that hit the internet, it would trigger a media firestorm. The Zuo Family would be caught in a massive public relations nightmare. If they played their cards right, they could completely destroy the Zuo Family.

Zuo You instantly grasped the gravity of the situation and pleaded, ”Brother Ye, we can’t let this escalate.”

”I understand.” Ye Xiu nodded and turned to address everyone present. ”Everyone, please be quiet!”

The clamor died in an instant. Everyone fell silent.

This scene left Murong, Zuo You, Zuo Song’er, Luo Qiwei, and Dragon Hollyhock secretly amazed—Ye Xiu’s authority was terrifying.

”Ladies and gentlemen, this matter isn’t as big or complicated as you think,” Ye Xiu announced, his voice carrying over the crowd. ”Luo Qiwei had the guards attack me because of a personal grudge between us. It has nothing to do with Zuo You or the Zuo Family. I hope you won’t blow this out of proportion and drag the innocent members of the Zuo Family into it.”

He scanned the crowd before continuing, ”Furthermore, many of you have probably heard of Zuo You. He is a modest gentleman, a rare, upstanding young man from a wealthy family. Since he’s in charge of the Waterside Luxury Residences development, I’m confident that all aspects of it will be excellent.

”I originally came here to buy a house today. I didn’t know Waterside Luxury Residences belonged to the Zuo Family, but now that I do, I feel I must buy a unit here, if only out of respect for Zuo You’s character.”

Hearing that Divine Doctor Ye himself was buying a home at Waterside Luxury Residences, the onlookers instantly forgot all about Luo Qiwei.

They began clamoring excitedly.

”If Divine Doctor Ye trusts Zuo You, then I trust him too!”

”Haha, Divine Doctor Ye is buying a house here? I’m buying one too! If I live in the same community as him, I won’t have to worry about getting sick anymore.”

”With Divine Doctor Ye buying property at Waterside Luxury Residences, the feng shui there must be absolutely incredible.”

”This is my chance! I have to go reserve a unit right now!”

Shouting amongst themselves, the onlookers frantically rushed toward the sales office, as if afraid they would miss out if they were a moment too slow.

Luo Qiwei and Dragon Hollyhock stood dumbfounded. Their plan had been thwarted by Ye Xiu yet again. Worse, Ye Xiu had just given Waterside Luxury Residences the best possible endorsement. Once word got out that he was buying a home there, the development would probably sell out within days.

”Brother Ye, thank you so much,” Zuo You said gratefully. ”If you hadn’t stepped in, this situation would have escalated. We might not have sold a single unit at Waterside Luxury Residences, and the Zuo Family would be in a precarious position.”

”Brother Ye, you cured my illness and now you’ve helped us so much. My brother and I don’t know how to thank you,” Zuo Song’er said, her face full of adoration.

”If you want to thank me, that’s easy. Just make sure the units and property management at Waterside Luxury Residences are top-notch. If any issues pop up, the people who bought a home because of me will probably curse me to death,” Ye Xiu said with a smile.

”You can rest assured on that point, Brother Ye,” Zuo You said, thumping his chest.

Ye Xiu nodded, then turned his head to look at the ashen-faced Luo Qiwei and Dragon Hollyhock. ”So,” he taunted, ”are the two of you going to confess, or should I do it for you?”

His words made Zuo You and Zuo Song’er freeze.

”What do you mean, Brother Ye?” Zuo You asked.

Ye Xiu waved the security guards away before asking, ”Dragon Hollyhock and Luo Qiwei are having an affair. Did you really not notice at all?”

”What kind of joke is that, Brother Ye?” Zuo You asked in disbelief. ”That’s impossible. Dragon Hollyhock is my wife. She loves me very much. She would never betray me.”

”Dragon Hollyhock, you might as well tell him yourself,” Ye Xiu commanded.

”Ye Xiu is right,” Dragon Hollyhock said with a shrug. ”I knew Luo Qiwei long before I met you. We’ve kept in touch ever since we got married.”

”You...”

Zuo You felt as if he had been struck by lightning. In all the time he had known Dragon Hollyhock, he had never seen her act like this. Their marriage had always been held up as a model among elite circles, and she had always acted as if she loved him deeply. Now he discovered it was all an illusion. The woman he adored had betrayed him countless times behind his back.

”Oh, does that hurt? Are you heartbroken? Saddened?” Luo Qiwei said, taking pleasure in Zuo You’s misery. ”You must be about to explode with anger right now.”

”Luo Qiwei...” Zuo You roared.

”I’m right here!” Luo Qiwei taunted, shaking his head to provoke him further. ”Before you married Dragon Hollyhock, I already... tested her for you. And all those times she traveled abroad after you were married? She was actually coming to see me...”

”Shut up!” Zuo You charged forward in a blind rage, landing a solid punch on Luo Qiwei’s face.

”You dare hit me?” Luo Qiwei bellowed, raising a fist to strike back.

Just then, Ye Xiu’s cold voice cut in. ”If you dare to fight back, I’ll shatter you.”

Luo Qiwei’s fist stopped in mid-air, not daring to follow through.

Zuo You’s fists, however, did not stop. He vented all his boiling rage on Luo Qiwei, who was knocked to the ground. He curled up, enduring the kicks and punches without daring to retaliate.

Zuo You finally stopped when he was utterly exhausted. Panting, he looked at Dragon Hollyhock and asked, ”Did you ever love me?”

”Love?” Dragon Hollyhock scoffed. ”Zuo You, you’re so naive. Is there such a thing as love among the wealthy? I only married you for the Zuo Family’s fortune.”

”I understand.” Zuo You suddenly became calm. In a deep voice, he said, ”You can go. We’ll see each other at the Marriage Registrar’s office tomorrow morning.”

”Fine!” Dragon Hollyhock shrugged, then hauled Luo Qiwei to his feet, and the two of them left.

It wasn’t until they were long gone that Zuo You collapsed to the ground like a deflated ball. He was a man of iron will and stature, yet in that moment, he cried. He had truly loved Dragon Hollyhock with all his heart.

”I know revealing their affair like this was incredibly painful for you,” Ye Xiu said, patting Zuo You’s shoulder comfortingly. ”But it’s better to rip the band-aid off. If you had kept her around, she would have been the death of you and your family sooner or later.”
