Chapter 82: Chapter 82: 1 Billion Consultation Fee

The burly old man known as Sect Leader Song was none other than Song Penghui, the Sect Leader of the Vajra Sect. He said disdainfully, ”Ye Xiu is a mere doctor. Would he dare to show me, of all people, any disrespect?”

”Then why isn’t he here yet?” the gray-haired old man asked.

Song Penghui’s brows furrowed. He waved Guo Xiang over and demanded, ”What’s going on? Why hasn’t Ye Xiu arrived yet?”

”I told him to be at the gymnasium by nine o’clock,” Guo Xiang replied.

”But it’s already a quarter past nine!” Song Penghui slammed his hand on the table. ”Call him and ask where he is.”

”I don’t have his cell phone number,” Guo Xiang admitted, embarrassed.

”Then what are you waiting for? Go find him!” Song Penghui roared.

”Yes, yes, of course...” Guo Xiang hurriedly sent his men to search the streets for Ye Xiu while he himself rushed to Ye Xiu’s home.

At that moment, Ye Xiu was lounging on a chair by his pool, basking in the sun, when he heard footsteps approaching.

Opening his eyes, he was rendered speechless. ”Ma Tengkong, why are you back again?”

”Heh heh, brother, I’ve brought you some business,” Ma Tengkong said with a sly grin.

”What business?” Ye Xiu asked curiously.

Ma Tengkong bent over and whispered fawningly in Ye Xiu’s ear, eager for praise. ”I brought you a patient. He said he’d pay any amount of money if someone could cure him. See? Isn’t this a huge deal?”

Ye Xiu was too weary to even comment on Ma Tengkong’s shamelessness. He just asked, ”What’s his name?”

”Nie Yunfei. He’s the sole heir of the Nie Family, and his father has spent a fortune trying to get him cured,” Ma Tengkong said with a sheepish smile.

At the name Nie Yunfei, a cold glint flashed in Ye Xiu’s eyes. ”Tell him to leave,” he said coldly. ”I won’t save him.”

”Why?” Ma Tengkong was stunned and grew anxious. ”Brother, you can’t just turn your back on money! If you cure Nie Yunfei, the Nie Family won’t refuse even if you ask for a hundred million.”

”Do you want to be thrown out again?” Ye Xiu retorted coldly.

”This...” Ma Tengkong grew flustered. ”Brother, I already promised Nie Yunfei! Please, for my sake, just treat him.”

”You promised him, so you can treat him. What does it have to do with me?” Ye Xiu said dismissively.

Ma Tengkong’s face turned grim. He had been thrown into a trash bin outside Tu Mountain Manor by Chloe. After waking up and climbing out, he had run into Nie Yunfei, who was also looking for Ye Xiu for treatment. He seized the opportunity to strike up a conversation, claiming that he and Ye Xiu were sworn brothers and that Ye Xiu would definitely treat Nie Yunfei if he asked. For that, Nie Yunfei had even given him a check for one hundred thousand.

But now Ye Xiu refused to even see the man. How was he supposed to explain that?

”If you don’t leave now, I’ll have Chloe throw you out,” Ye Xiu said impatiently.

”I’m going, I’m going right away!” Ma Tengkong turned and fled.

At that moment, a sickly Nie Yunfei was standing on the bridge with two bodyguards. Seeing Ma Tengkong run over, he asked, ”Did Ye Xiu agree to treat me?”

”Ahem...” Ma Tengkong was extremely embarrassed. ”Ye Xiu is in a bad mood. Maybe you should come back another day?”

”I don’t have much time left,” Nie Yunfei gasped for breath. ”Take me to him.”

”He doesn’t want to see you,” Ma Tengkong blurted out.

”That’s none of your concern. Just take me to him,” Nie Yunfei insisted.

”But...” Ma Tengkong hesitated.

”Take me to see Ye Xiu, and I’ll give you another hundred thousand,” Nie Yunfei said.

Ma Tengkong’s eyes lit up. ”Deal! Follow me.”

Ye Xiu was getting up to head back into the villa when he saw Ma Tengkong approaching with Nie Yunfei and two bodyguards. He was instantly furious. He had told Ma Tengkong to get rid of Nie Yunfei, and the man had brought him here instead.

Courting death!

”Brother, let me make an introduction. This is...” Ma Tengkong began cheerfully.

”No need for introductions. I know him,” Ye Xiu stated sternly.

”You know each other?” Ma Tengkong was taken aback.

”Ahem...” Nie Yunfei looked embarrassed.

”We’re more than just acquaintances.” Ye Xiu glared at Nie Yunfei and said, ”Ten years ago, after I was framed, I was homeless and wandering the streets. I stumbled upon Nie Yunfei and his men raping a female student.

”When Nie Yunfei saw me, he had his men beat me for over half an hour and warned that if I dared to say a word, he would kill me.

”Later, I was being chased by assassins. After four days without food, I collapsed from hunger at his doorstep. He threw a steamed bun on the ground, stepped on it, and told me to eat...”

As he listened to the history between Ye Xiu and Nie Yunfei, Ma Tengkong’s expression grew increasingly grim. No wonder Ye Xiu refused to even see him after hearing his name. So that’s the deep-seated hatred between them. Ma Tengkong panicked. He had forced this meeting, and he feared Ye Xiu wouldn’t let him off the hook for it.

”Divine Doctor Ye, I was too young back then. I did many things wrong, and I’ve been repenting for all these years. I hope you can give me a chance to turn over a new leaf,” Nie Yunfei said apologetically, adopting a humble posture.

”I don’t care whether you’ve truly repented, and I won’t take revenge for what you did to me. You can go,” Ye Xiu said indifferently.

Hearing that Ye Xiu wouldn’t hold the past against him, Nie Yunfei secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but he didn’t leave. Instead, he said, ”Divine Doctor Ye, I suffer from a strange illness. All the famous doctors in the country, even the Ghost Doctor, can’t diagnose me. I hope you can examine me. Name any price you want.”

”I will neither diagnose you nor treat you,” Ye Xiu stated coldly.

”One billion!” Nie Yunfei declared. ”As long as you cure me, Divine Doctor Ye, I’ll give you one billion.”

Hearing this figure, Ma Tengkong’s breathing quickened. One billion! If that were all his, he would be set for life.

”I don’t need the money,” Ye Xiu said impatiently. ”Leave now. I wouldn’t save you even if you gave me the entire Nie Family fortune.”

Seeing Ye Xiu so resolute, Nie Yunfei finally dropped his pretense. ”Ye Xiu,” he said coldly, ”don’t think you can act high and mighty in front of me just because your name has been cleared. You’re just a mere doctor. Crushing you would be as easy as crushing an ant.”

”I knew you were faking it,” Ye Xiu scoffed. ”Go ahead, use every trick you have to force me. Bring it on.”

”Ye Xiu!” Nie Yunfei was enraged. ”You’re asking for it! See the two bodyguards behind me? With one word from me, they could kill you right now.”

”Well, well, well, who’s being so arrogant?”

Just then, Zhu Xiaowen and Yun Lan walked over. Zhu Xiaowen looked at Nie Yunfei with contempt. ”I was wondering who it could be. Turns out it’s the great cripple Nie. You’ve already got one foot in the grave, and you still have time to come out here and act tough?”

She then turned to Ye Xiu. ”Brother Ye, you rest. This trash isn’t worth your effort. Yun Lan and I can handle him.”
